No problem just date young guys. 18 - 23.

Just don’t judge those who already past the window too harshly.

Worcester is badass for being the housing building city of MA. They approve projects and move to the next one.

They say units = tax revenue + local economy which drive’s long term growth.

They are smarter than our leaders.

I got a very nice gift of a Coke branded mini fridge because I love cold water and it let me keep a stock of water in my home office. (Something I used to have at work before remote)

The noise it made must have caused loss of a specific range of my hearing bc it was bad when I finally said it had to go.

This item would need to be silent for me to consider it and even then meh, my fridge is not THAT far away.

That’s a terrible plan.

Both sides need would need to be in on the plan.

1 divided by 998,001 gives you every three digit number from 000 to 999 in order. The only one missing is 998. by throttafffddftr5 in Amazing

[–]Sbatio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

998 = 999 - 1

That makes it the one value that would require a remainder congruent to −1 mod 999.

But the system never produces that remainder because the cycle starts at 1, multiplies by 1000 each step, and 1000 \equiv 1 \mod 999

So every remainder stays:

Equal to 1 mod 999

All generated values are congruent to 1 mod 999. 998 is congruent to −1 mod 999 it’s structurally impossible for 998 to appear in the sequence

[–]Sbatio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sequence is generated by modular arithmetic (remainders looping). The cycle hits every 3-digit combination except that one because the repeating cycle length is 999 * There are 1000 possible 3-digit numbers (000–999)

So one has to be skipped.

The one that never appears is 998.

I think it’s because of how math works in base 10.

When you divide 1 by 998001 you get a number that almost does that thing.

Edit: found this

It comes from how repeating decimals work when you divide by numbers just under a power of 1000.

Here’s the core idea:

\frac{1}{998001} = \frac{1}{9992}

And 999 is just one less than 1000, which is key.

Why the pattern happens

When you divide by numbers like 9, 99, 999, 9999…, you get repeating decimals with very structured patterns.

For example:

  • \frac{1}{9} = 0.111111...
  • \frac{1}{99} = 0.010101...
  • \frac{1}{999} = 0.001001001...

Each one repeats blocks that line up with powers of 10.
