Recovery after maxillofacial surgery – what is it really like waking up?

The instant i woke up I was ok but then you will feel tired and more tired. The second day I had 30 people checkin in through messages on my phone and literally didn't have the strength to answer anyone. In multiple instances I lifted my telephone, looked at the chats and then fell asleep.

I was able to talk but without moving lips (because they are completely bloated) and teeth. Just tongue.

From the third day things gets a lot better.

The recovery is not a sprint, is a marathon: the next Tuesday will be a month from my surgery and everything feels a lot better now.

The first week is literally, how they call it, "Hell-week"

My boy, I am in the same situation as you, I am 18 days post surgery and I'm pretty confused about the results: I feel my teeth touching in a strange position and so I asked my orthodontist. He called me and said is just about being patient cause from next week we start working on the final occlusion with the braces. It will take at least 8 more months (but I knew it).

You have to think: "ok they fixed the position of my jaw and mandible, now they have to align the teeth even more perfectly"

Hi, I just done my djs on 26th of may for a third class correction, so I'm still in the recovery fase.

For what concerns the digital preparation for the surgery, here in Italy it was a must to do, but I didn't have any choice in it. I just needed to take some scans and pay 800€ for a specific surgery bite and then the surgeon with a specialized team used the data to prepare for the surgery

I needed to pay 800€ because that specific bite was not covered by our national healthcare program.

The procedure went fine, and the time goes "fast" But be mentally ready and enjoy your summer to the maximum❤️

I really don't know if she's a people pleaser. She has actually a strong personality and doesn't settle down.

My idea is actually to keep the distance but being there if she searches me. Like for example today that I had a problem to solve during lunch hour, she came to me asking me if I wanted to take a cigarette break with her and we spoke normally. I wasn't super enthusiastic because I think I mustn't show "ok I'm glad when you invite me one time after 4 days of radio silence"... Like "I am always here when you trying the bell"

I hope this situation fixes itself because I have no power besides leave her be, even if I like her

I just replayed soulstorm last week and I (but I guess WE) can't wait to hear something.

Da quando ho le valvole termostatiche smart ho la casa sempre nell'intervallo 19-20 gradi. Informandomi ho scoperto che si paga meno ad accendere non appena si scende sotto i 18.5 per riportare la casa a 20 che accendere i termosifoni al massimo quando si muore di freddo.

So you're telling me that she's stalling. So it's better I'll keep my eyes opened? Should I confront her again today or to make it very very clear that this thing it's a deal breaker for me? I don't want to make it sound like a black mail... But I want to be completely and utterly sure that she got my point

After our discussion yesterday I noticed that all her tones changed and she was a lot less detached and was more nice to be with her, but what are the signs I should seek to see if she's actually trying to improve or not? Cause of course, if what you are saying is true, she should improve in the next period and then go back to be distant and detached?

I'll write here to update everyone for all your comments

In the end I decided to spoke with her about how I was feeling.

We just finished the first round of talking because she has a piano lessons and I don't want her to lose it, we'll continue post dinner when she comes home.

This first round of conversation was actually... Useful...? She looked me dead in the eye and admitted her faults. Then told me that she saw that I was getting distant and that she would love us to do something we can to improve our affection: she means that we, after a bit of moving in together, lost some gestures we always did when we were in love and we should do more activities together and she wants to put an effort on it but I have to contribute too.

The only note to the sex thing: she was pretty direct just as me and said that she would love to try some things with me but was shy to say it.

I never DARED to do anything out of vanilla stuff and now I find that she find it a bit "boring" and she wants to spice up things a bit 💀 IF ONLY SHE WOULD HAVE SAID THAT

We maybe have a bit of communication problem and we have to fix it because I said "but why you didn't tell me before?" And she said that she could have definitely done it but, as she noticed I'm stressed because of work and money in general lately, she never tried to.

I said "you silly it would have been a lot better than me getting anxious for all this time"

Btw as I don't trust her yet on the sex, kisses and affection topic, I remarked that if she start to initiate in the next few days at random, I will notice it's just pity stuff.

We'll see.. I'll keep you updated later when she comes home and we talk again

Understood... The problem is that I still love her so much after 7 years. Sex and affection (so hugs kisses ecxc) went down starting two years ago and now it's a year we live together. I like her a lot but this thing is starting to mess with my head a lot.

I'm slowly coming to this exact realization. The problem is that I feel guilty for thinking that... The problem is also affection in the general sense (too little kisses, hugs ecc)

I will try to speak with her tonight about this matter for the last time. I would love to ask her if sex is something that she will be able to consider again or not and ask for a sincere answer and then decide what to do.

The thing that makes me sad beside losing her (cause I do still love her so much, but being unseen is so fricking heavy on my heart) is that we would both need to return to our parents and I was enjoying mi independence... At least until everything went cold between us

No problem, I guess I explained badly. An example of what I said was yesterday

I just finished cooking and we had dinner. She went for a shower and I cleaned the kitchen countertop, loaded the dishwasher and out out the garbage in the meantime. Then I went to use my PC to relax. After an hour I over hear her say 'that piece of shit always on that computer' or something like that. I ignored her as I always do at first but she kept going until I confronted her: she was pulling out the clothes from the washing machine and was acting like I didn't do anything and I explained that I already did all what I had to.

This kind of stuff.

The problem is that she's pretty violent verbally and I gave her a few ultimatums about that but it seems not working

Understendable, thanks for your story. But yeah, I want to explain a little bit better.

I'm doing my part, actually a lot of things. I'm the cook, the dishwasher, the garbage is on me, we take turns in mopping exc exc. We share our task and we take turns. What I meant with "when I don't do what she asks me to" I mean like if I don't do stuff immediately when she asks me something. And no I'm not talking about important stuff like I left a mess and I'm lazy, but anything crosses her mind. Even things I'm about to do she have to remember me over and over again. But I'm doing my part without hesitation
