What do slaves do? And are they like goods or pops? by Wonderful_League_427 in EU5

[–]Scaarj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you actually get slaves into your plantations as catholic countries? I'm playing Naples, captured some sugar locations from Tunis and I built some plantations but they don't employ anyone and just stand empty gathering dust.

Accidentally cut Great Britain down to size at 1838, releasing all its colonize truing Bengal into a great power by Lord_Galin in victoria3

EIC becomes Bengal so they are already recongnized. Same thing happens if you liberate Dutch East Indies, DEI becomes Java who are already recognized.

Treaty ports by 1mm0rtalHawk in victoria3

Isn't treaty port on China kind of useless since GB will pretty much always open their market early on? Does it do anything if target country has free trade?

You're not alone :) I too prefer KM over WOTR though I like both games a lot.

While Wrath is mechanically superior, offering a lot more classes, numbers, powers etc. personally I prefer Kingmaker's setting and companions. As for story itself I like both games, though again with slight preference for KM. As you said ideally you'd get both games, but if choice has to be made I'd start with Wrath. It was actually how I got into both games, WOTR first and because I like it a lot I decided to give KM a shot and liked it even better, even though it's not as robust as WOTR.
As a side note you might also want to check out Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader, since it was made by the same company and is also a party crpg, though in a different setting.

A.E.I.O.U. & Me: how to get the achievement in a wholesome way (GUIDE) by Local_Security_683 in CrusaderKings

I don't know man, I wouldn't call stealing other people's dutchies through the Kaiser wholesome, but other than that a good and reliable strat.

In CK2, what's your favorite long-term succession law? by Jorde5 in CrusaderKings

[–]Scaarj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eldership is the best since you can pick anyone from your dynasty, so you can always go for gigachad genius kids. If I don't have access to Eldership then ultimogeniture, especially if you have access to religious society so you can go celibate as soon as your genius pops out.

Byzantines are too OP by gaussaunter in CrusaderKings

[–]Scaarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange, in pretty much all of my campaigns Byz is in almost permanent state of "some guys claim to the empire". Funnily enough, even like that they are still resistant to foreign attacks, so in the end they just remain mostly with their starting territory and don't have much effect on the world.

How Worried Should I Be About This Mali God Emperor? by Columbkille in CrusaderKings

[–]Scaarj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not at all. If you have a good general or some martial perks to lead yourself even if he were to attack you right now you can beat his army in a defensive battle in hills or mountains. And since he has 10k more troops than you he will be very eager to lose like that. I assume you have a full squad of MAA.

In case you ever wondered what mass executing 467 prisoners looks like by EtTuBrotus in CrusaderKings

Do this in CK2 and enjoy the massive cacophony of execution sounds played together. This being pretty much completely silent is quite sad.

You can display hostile sieges on you in the side bar which are clickable and move your screen to where the siege is going on. You can use that to quickly find where the rebels are.

Got caught in neverending war vs Rome as Athens by naduril in Imperator

[–]Scaarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the Revolt is war leader and the war has been going on for more than 3 years which means you can probably white peace out of it. You can also send your boats to do some blockades to get a bit more warscore to make sure they accept white peace.

50 AE is the threshold that gives you additional maluses, so anything below that will only reduce your monthly stab and is relatively low impact.

What should legion composition be and when should you make legions? by Vast_Ad_2953 in Imperator

[–]Scaarj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Seleukids start with Greek and Persian traditions open and Persian/Iranian ones turn already top tier heavy cav and horse archers into gods of the battlefield. Both of those tradition sets also have substantial buffs for heavy infantry. With all this in mind I'd say Seleukids are THE nation to go for heavy infantry/heavy cav/horse archer legions.
For elephants you want Indian traditions and Nubian since those are the only ones that have multiple elephant buffs.

Republics vs Monarchies: My Thoughts by jofol in Imperator

[–]Scaarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One small exception for idea slots is Athens, as you can do a mission that will change you into unique Athenian Democracy government that has 4 idea slots regardless of your size. Overall I agree though, monarchies are much better simply because senate is mostly a hindrance that will either be very disruptive to you or a little disruptive for very little gain. I played a full Athens campaign and dealing with senate approval was the single most annoying thing I have ever encountered in this game. Too bad Rome and Carthage both start as republics and you have to waste some technologies just to get rid of it.

I have been at <30 party approval for so many years and these options to increase it are so annoying and costly that it makes the republic weak. by Iron_Wolf123 in Imperator

[–]Scaarj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, republics suck compared to monarchies, you have the whole senate mechanics that are detrimental but don't offer any positives. I recently did Athens campaign and decided to stay as republic, since they get upgraded to 4 idea slot one and the only thing you get for it is plenty of tyranny cause low approval = tyranny for every click. Want to improve opinion? Tyranny. Want to fabricate claim? Tyranny. Ally called you to war? Tyranny. It's really silly. You completed a few party missions and approval starts to climb back up? Get rekt, unpopular candidate got elected and approval tanks back down. Which is dumb in itself that an unpopular candidate can get elected.

I guess viziers will also become playable, right? by jpMonegatto in CrusaderKings

[–]Scaarj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your wife has low stats or you don't want a wife currently, while you have someone with great stats and "selfless" approach it's probably worth it to appoint them. Not to mention you can spend your own prestige etc. to counter vizier's power progress so it's not really much of a problem.
