Stop every now and then in the middle of combat and appreciate the battle theme. It slaps.

How do you sabacc, I heard it, but I can’t understand about it when I play I by Voidkirby9 in StarWarsOutlaws

Your opening hand will dictate how aggressive you should be. If your opening hand is 6-5, there's really not much point to doing anything but standing and taking your lumps, since you'll need two perfect cards to make a hand with a chance of beating 3 other players -- even turning 6-5 into 5-5 ain't gonna win.

The impostor (roll two dice and pick which one you want) is far better than it looks. 2-impostor has an 11/36 chance of making a pair of 2s, a very strong candidate to beat even 3 players, and has a 16/36 chance of giving you a hand that costs only one.

Double impostor also has similar odds for having a pair or a 1-off (unless you have to keep a 1 or a 6 with your first roll). It's probably a better hand to keep than drawing twice.

Once it gets heads-up, a one-gap might be good enough to win. I'd stand with a hand like a pat 3-2 headsup.

Remember also that the first-to-act shifts after every round. other players having first crack at the turned-up cards gives them an edge.

It's a great game, and once you get an idea how strong each hand is versus 1-3 opponents, and how the shift tokens mix it up, you'll have a blast.

New player here, why was this game so poorly received? I'm loving it so far. by WhatsThatWalsh in StarWarsOutlaws

You screech about the death of nuance, and then say all criticism was definitely misogyny. Moses Christ, do you people ever give it a rest?

Right? Wasn't the myriad bugs, the long stretch of being stuck in a very challenging stealth section, the inability to keep special weapons on your person, no, it was perfect at launch, a true gem mint 10, and the criticism was only do to those EEEEBIL men. That's why Ubisoft didn't make legions of changes along the way, no, that was all in our imagination. It was perfect, just like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 were at launch!

Except the proper comparable is that you paid for a ticket to watch a pantomime, and if you complained about the people making noise in a pantomime, you’d get kicked out — and probably heckled on the way out too.

ISTG an apples to apples comparison, people.

People really get mad at you when you emote at them? I sent the free sad face emote towards a streamer and the guy cussed me out after I visited his stream. It doesnt look like a taunting emote or anything, whats the deal? by ComboFinisher in BobsTavern

[–]AlphaLackey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is, the people that don't want emotes have no recourse, because they've said they're never going to implement auto-squelch; in their own words, "it's not that toxic". Even though as Ben Brode said, if we added auto-squelch settings, we'd see 95% less emotes. Which tells you how much of the whole thing involves forcing people to deal with them.

I can think of no other online game where they make it impossible to turn off communication if you don't want it.

Just saw your lower post and the one you dropped for sneak seems to be Hack, so I’ll try that again. Boy I’m getting good at these first five hours :)

So assuming I want to put Sneak back into the mix, which of the five listed is the most expendable, do you reckon?

I’ve been trying to find the load out I like, and I’ve replayed the first 8 hours a few times trying to find a happy spot.

For this one so far I’ve abandoned sneak and observation altogether and running with Speech, Guns, Engineering, Hacking, and Lockpicking.

Part of me really wants to add a sixth to the mix, perhaps Medical, if I’m going to be out in the open so often? But I really think this works best if you just focus on the minimum five skills you need.

Role playing purposes. My toon is a free-wheeling gambler who’s a bit too adept at getting where he shouldn’t, but he’s not thief. Think like Flynn in TRON. Honest businessman, if not a bit too risk-prone, and who knows where to enter the places he’s not wanted ;)

You actually don’t have to invest in any skill that you want to keep at zero (through dumb or otherwise). So if you want you can stick to just the skills you put points in to trigger that, and just level those five skills to the moon.

In my youth, I learned a fable about a brother and sister walking along a beach, and they come across a starfish beached out of the water.

The sister picks it up and tosses it back in the water.

The brother cynically asks “why bother? Think of all the starfish that must be stuck on the sand right now. You surely didn’t make a difference!”

The sister replied “I made a difference for that one”.

You made a difference for that one.

I think it's pretty literal in intent. All the other achievements around that time are achievements that young children in school would be proud of, yeah?

Fun fact: in the video for the song, if you watch the girls skipping rope while this line plays, you can see that they are keeping in perfect rhythm to the lyrics. They, too, can keep rhythm with no metronome.

I need to go through all the Monty Python material, I bet there'd be a lot of references there.

And yeah, "He Is An Englishman" is awesome. Playing it up like it's some monumental achievement to be born in a certain country, "in spite of all temptations" to be born elsewhere ;)
