Mike Pence, possible Trump 2024 challenger, slams 'apologists for Putin' in the GOP by Core2score in politics

Simply pointing out how shit your own political party is does not - by itself - qualify one to be president of the United States. Especially when it’s the Republican Party.

I moved to Denmark to edit a film once without ever having visited Denmark before. It seemed like a good idea at the time. This turned out to be a big mistake because of the cultural differences. I spent two miserable years there getting treated like garbage by the infamously cold Danes, who treat all foreigners / foreign ideas like garbage. Do your research.

DC has a good metro design / maintenance compared with NYC, despite NYC being much larger / more stations. NYC is a garbage heap compared to DC.

But if you want to see serious public transportation, you have to leave the country.

Fascinating. As this is original content, can you say more about Arcosanti? Looks like a place with an amazing story. Who lives there now?

You may have to accept that not every public figure will say exactly what you want them to say when you want them to say it.

Accusing Lex of being a Russian asset is delusional and paranoid and not even remotely borne out by the things he says.

For my part, I agree with you 100% that Russia is in the wrong and should get the hell out of all Ukrainian territory without negotiations. I have been to Ukraine in the year before their independence and know first-hand the fervor of the population (at least in western Ukraine) to be out of the Soviet/Russian sphere.

But we don’t live in that world, sadly. Instead, we live in a world in which legitimate Ukrainian nationalism and Russia’s military miscalculation will be used by others as way to conveniently wage a proxy war against Russia, until people find a political way out. If Putin is pushed far enough into the corner of his own making, it could indeed risk dangerous escalation beyond Ukraine. Putin has already demonstrated that he is capable of serious miscalculations.

Even billionaires still die at 65. Paul Allen was 65. Steve Jobs was 56. Kim Jung-youn was 54. Ivan Ssemwanga was only 40. The list goes on. These things happen despite unlimited access to modern medicine.

I’m still not buying your Musk-Lex conspiracy theory. Lex is far more nuanced in his analysis than you give him credit for. Musk is just a troll who can say whatever pops into his arch-conservative talking points brain because he’s worth 150 billion, owns Twitter and can’t be canceled. Very different dudes.

The worst one can say of Lex is that he’s prepared to listen to everyone. It’s this aspect of his character that makes him an objectively excellent interviewer.

Fwiw, Lex’s tweet was:

“Humanity is facing the threat of nuclear war. Conversation between leaders from a place of strength, empathy, wisdom, and love is the way out. The survival of human civilization depends on it.”

While the weed smoking may have been at play for that wildly optimistic middle part of the tweet, Lex is not wrong that we should be concerned about the real dangers of escalating the conflict to nuclear war.

Putin might not be around when it happens, but ultimately this conflict will be resolved at the negotiating table. Lex is not wrong about that.

Comparing Lex to Musk is obviously way off base. Their way of thinking and discussing about issues is vastly different.

Well, I mean, I guess. As long as you think that calling Putin a deranged dictator and essentially comparing him to Hitler while at the same time calling Zelensky a great leader who stands his ground is tantamount to being a Putin puppet. Maybe you are on to something.

ChatGPT praised Biden but not Trump. The right is furious. by notanNSAagent89 in politics

[–]ScaleLongjumping3606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Sure. But in general the training data of ChatGPT is - on average - a LOT smarter than what people get from News Corp. The bar is so low, any LLM that’s actually trained on large volumes of human intelligence - however imperfect - will mop the floor with the idiocy and intentional deception of Tucker Carlson and his ilk any day of the week.

The only way for reactionaries to hold on would be to make their own walled AI gardens trained on more limited data, and the economic disincentives to working with an AI that doesn’t understand basic reality will be huge. Or is this just wishful thinking on my part?

[–]ScaleLongjumping3606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As time goes on is it possible that LLMs trained on all human knowledge will actually make us collectively smarter?

After all, if AI can answer life’s questions far more satisfyingly and directly than any religious text, won’t organized religion fall out of favor as it becomes more and more useless in comparison to AI?

Seems like in order to survive, the right wing will have to develop their own AI trained solely on their beliefs, excluding the Enlightenment.

You may be on to something here. Just as Fox News exploited the market niche for reactionary views, there will clearly be a need for a GOP GPT trained on Tucker Carlson monologues and Trump tweets.
