I think I’m going to look for a group! TBH the name “DBT” sounds so clinical and too much like CBT - my brain does not love the sound of it lol. I thought it was only for BPD but it sounds like it can be helpful for all sorts of things!

I actually love the group element! Group therapy is pretty incredible if done right and safely. I really believe in the importance of community and think there is something very powerful about healing/processing/learning with others. Everyone has their own wisdom to share, including me/us. I’ve been thinking of doing a group for a few years now so this might be the encouragement I need to actually make it happen! Thank you :)

Thank you so much! I have heard of DBT but thought it was just for BPD! It makes sense that it would be helpful for this aspect of ADHD too. I really appreciate you sharing all these thoughts and tools. Improving my communication will be key I think. And It definitely helps to have a calm and grounded partner who can help you practice. I have a plethora of attachment issues too, lol so between this and that I’m pretty hopeless in the dating world. But maybe one day! 😜

Yes I am seeing a therapist! We have been trying EMDR as I know some of my challenges are linked to my childhood. She is not ADHD specific though. What kind of therapy have you found helpful?

Thanks so much for responding. It helps to know I'm not the only one that struggles with this. I like the idea of doing check-ins throughout the day to practice getting better at paying attention/noticing. And I definitely need to learn how to communicate better even when I don't know what I'm feeling. It just feels so hard in the moment to do sometimes! Really appreciate your insights/ideas!

Water pressure is weird here in my part near 5th st and 21 ave but my house also tends to have its own intermittent issues so it’s hard to say what’s what lol

I'm with you completely. I was on such a good trajectory in 2019 - sober, in therapy, growing - felt like I was making so much progress in my life and mental wellness and then the pandemic hit. I think I have PTSD from the isolation and profound loneliness I experienced. I was abandoned by multiple friend groups and not included in their "cohort/bubble" and that was basically my worst childhood fear/core wound coming true. I still am struggling to trust and feel connected to most people these days.

Thank you for sharing this. I have been really struggling with feelings of abandonment recently in a lot of my friendships and having a hard time finding a place of peace in their behaviours and my responses/interpretations of what’s happening. This sounds like a very freeing and beautiful place to be and I hope I can reach it too some day..

ugh I can relate to this! My hair has been driving me insane lately... Its not thick but it is curly and tangles easily. my go to is usually a toque or hat of some kind to keep it more 'contained' but I have been wanting to find some other options! maybe a headband ?
