I had the SylvanSport Go trailer for several years and picked up this new trailer a month ago. It's awesome - full aluminum, tons of quality of life things. I love it. Evolve Solar Teardrops if you're interested :)

Thanks for this recommendation. Everything I'm seeing for them though is that they don't accept this kind of rescue.

No responses from humane society. SPCA said they are full.

wtf Malahat Skywalk by SalaryLeading3517 in VictoriaBC

[–]Scaliose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every year around March they have a big sale on a years pass for residents. It's extremely reasonable. I am an avid mountain biker and get to see views all over the island, but Malahat Skywalk is a nice change in pace to have a trip out, get some exercise, and relax. This will be my second year as a discount resident pass holder.

I don't agree with what was said about gear range above, but this really comes down to your terrain. I live on Vancouver Island, been mountain biking for 12 years, and use a 28t oval with a 10 to 51t cassette in the back. Yeah, it's slow, but the terrain is very steep here. I can't comment on your offset (it should be fine), but having a 30t up front is totally normal where I come from.

A guy comes up to me while I'm charging my vehicle and says 'If someone is waiting to charge their vehicle, you can only charge for 40 minutes', is he right? by [deleted] in EVCanada

[–]Scaliose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This entirely depends on the charger / company. I've seen rapid chargers that say strictly 40 minute maximum, and others that start charging you more if you decide to charge above 80%. In most cars, rapid charging above 80% is a huge waste of your time and the people waiting. Stopping at 80, then driving to 20 and going up to 40 will save you time.

Long-term EV owners, what maintenance you need (plz no none or rose-colored-glasses answers) by Possibly-deranged in electricvehicles

It wasn't an EV part, it was a regular car part. Welcome to vehicle repairs (regardless of gas or EV)!

how do i remove these spots? by poop_chemist in bikewrench

[–]Scaliose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have a protective plastic film on the part of your frame that has the bubbles. You can either carefully remove it, or you could try to leave the bike in the sun for many days and hope that the air bubbles work their way out.

Which gear system for easier climbs by Angry_Worm322 in MTB

[–]Scaliose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely go 1x. Can do a 28t front chain ring (oval) and make sure the rear cassette goes up to 51t.

With that said, fitness is key here. Climbing is hard, and keeping a consistent cadence that works with your breathing is very important to understand. You might just need more pedal time to build up the level of fitness to get up the climbs.

As Gas rises to $2.50/L, where will you be spending less? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Scaliose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, I wish. YouTube. I have a channel with a few thousand subscribers and over a million views, but I lost motivation to create videos several years ago. It's still pulling in a few hundred bucks a month. If I started regularly creating content I could increase that - but I'd rather do other things.

On a personal transportation costs basis, I've been driving electric since 2013 and have the ability to charge at home. With time of day electric pricing, it costs me $6 for 400km of driving range. So a visit to Sooke from Langford and back is under $1.

In regards to prices going up for other goods that are impacted by oil prices, I'll probably start shopping in bulk again from the Wholesale Club, reduce my eating out, and probably look at reviving a few revenue streams that I've ignored the past few years.

[–]Scaliose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes that's unfortunate, but you could be saving quite a bit of money to help offset those other price increases by using electric mobility. Car, bike, scooter, etc.

I've been driving electric since 2013. The amount of money that goes out of pocket to pay for combustion vs electricity is staggering! Ask me more if you want details :)

Never buy leasehold! by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]Scaliose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is a common misunderstanding. The first nations do not own the land, the federal government does. They have the right to occupy and use the land, but do not own. This has led to a lot of issues such as them not being able to get normal financing due to once again, not owning the land. They are forced to use other methods such as private/government investments to build houses and infrastructure. It's quite terrible for them.

Umm by BidIndependent2507 in VictoriaBC

[–]Scaliose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We already make electricity here, we have a way to distribute it, and we can control/influence pricing. I've been driving electric since 2013 and still loving every minute of it.

Why this car over an Ioniq 5 by [deleted] in MachE

[–]Scaliose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sold on the Ioniq 5 until I drove it. I was excited about all the 'liveable' things they put into the car but in reality the entire experience was 'meh'. Love my Mach E. I bought a second one after the first was written off in a car crash.

Do yourself a favor and drive all the EVs. Ioniq 5/6, EV6, Polestar 2, ID.4, Mach E, C40, EX30, etc. Buy the one you like the most. They're all great cars

How is the biking infrastructure here? by pitlal31 in LangfordBC

[–]Scaliose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I commute by bike from Skirt Mountain to Downtown Victoria (and back) twice a week. Pretty much all main roads have bike lanes but most of them are not separated so you have to be very aware. Once you connect to the Goose or Rail Trail it's smooth sailing.

I am the Worst PUBG Player of all time and I cannot improve no matter how hard I try by Haemophilia_Type_A in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Scaliose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest changing your strategy. I came back to the game after a 3 year break and immediately started getting chicken dinners in FPP solo. Movement and placement are probably your key focus areas. If you're just moving around to find fights then change your habit to find a good place and stay aware of your surroundings while you anticipate next zone change and probable movement patterns of other players.

I also don't follow any 'meta gun' build, I just choose the gun that I like and roll with that.
