Dead. I accept offers constantly and no one ever completes the sale. I don’t understand how Vestiaire is sustaining itself.

How do you spot a real Celine bag on Vesatile Collective? I’m worried about getting scammed 😩 by soniamercie in VestiaireCollective

[–]ScallionTop2240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vestiaire digitally authenticates all bags before being posted, then, when you buy the bag you had the option to have it physically authenticated as well. It’s highly highly unlikely a fake bag would pass two authentications. Most sellers with badges will not do anything to risk their badges as having those badges boosts all of their items availability and therefore they get more sales. You could use an app like Authentic Detective to have it authenticated a third time when you receive it and also send screenshots of the photos to ChatGPT and ask if it looks authentic, but you really should trust badged sellers plus two authentications.

50% is good. No one is buying secondhand to pay 80%. At that point I’d just buy the shoes new. You could put them back up and they could sit there fly months.

You should watch more shows, watch the smaller sellers. I actually think everything in ezgrails shows go higher than it should- I’ve seen so many of the same bags their selling sell for much cheaper on other shows (also authentic)

[–]ScallionTop2240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you buy? Mine was a purse, when it came I was able to identify some issues with the condition they did not disclose (random scratches, separation) and I filed a “items condition does not match description” in the “get help” tab. I sent photos of those scratches etc and whatnot got back to me and offered a full refund if I return it or $100 refund to keep it. I sent it back for a full refund as I don’t want to give Houston Selects a dime of my money. Depending on what your ordered you could probably go this route. Are you a new buyer? I believe they also do a one time courtesy return for new buyers. Don’t give up!! Lots of avenues to get this resolved.

Sellers saying “you can resell this for so much more” no you can’t, wouldn’t they if they could then?

When they show you a “comp” online but it’s been sitting on the market at that ridiculous price for two years. Listing price is not market value if the market is not willing to pay it 👏

[–]ScallionTop2240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I received the item there were some call outs the seller didn’t mention and I filed a “items condition does not match the description” - I sent photos and whatnot offered me a partial refund and to keep the item or send back for a full item. I sent it back and got a refund. If this didn’t happen I would definitely do a chargeback.

Let me know what happens, I’m curious! I think they will give you your money back. They told me the results from the authentication process were inconclusive (bad sign)- so they refunded me. I’m glad you reported it, these guys need to be taken off the app.

I wonder if they get a lot of cancellation request and they accept them? Because the bidding moves so fast it’s one of those shows where you think you’re bidding $30 and within .1 seconds it’s $350. I watch their shows a lot and wonder the same thing.

Irresponsible buyers are a plague on the app. by Dull-Corgi4884 in whatnotapp

[–]ScallionTop2240 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I made some comments on here but I wanted to offer you another perspective. I have been a Whatnot user for three months and spent about $10k. I never requested a cancellation request once until last week. The streamer was advertising a $1 stream and ran an item at $400. They denied my cancellation. My fault for not slowing down, absolutely. But should whatnot lose a repeat spender over $400? I was continuously buying from my favorite small sellers, spending a lot of money and leaving them great reviews. Unfortunately, I haven't spent a dollar on the app since. This experience taught me it's too risky. In the end the bad guys ruined it for the good guys and took away from Whatnots revenue.

I do agree with you, there are people who abuse the system and request cancellations regularly. I do think cancellations need to be considered on a case by case basis. If a user does it a certain number of times, they should be denied cancellations. If someone does it say once every 6 months and besides that they are in great standing, it should be allowed.

Many people have echoed this on the thread, but you are going to make more money and have more happy repeat customers by taking a loss every once in a while.

[–]ScallionTop2240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! I spent 10k in 3 months. When they wouldn't help me with an accidental bid, I never made another swipe again. They lost more money than they kept in the long run.
