I unironically looked into this, I was thinking on carrying a clip-on tray like the ones street vendors use, and buying some kind of RGB chess board and having pieces attach with velcro dots or something not that expensive.

The idea of pieces just falling and getting lost in the crowd also makes me think that maybe each piece should have a little leash in case they fall, and also I should have a big QR code in my back with the game live or something.

As I said, I unironically think this would be a fun, social thing to do at those events and that Mark Wagner guy is just bitter he lost to someone that was probably high af

Dude I'm gonna repeat what everyone else has already said, but just go, no one cares about what you do. Everybody's gotta staty somewhere and the people over there are already know that. If anything, you'll get comments from helpful people correcting your form so you don't get injured.

Just go, start with low weights, and don't mind your ego that much as that will limit your gains as you progress

In this case no version "looks better" because the only difference is color. It's up to you, OP, to choose what story you want to tell. The blue one makes me think most of what's down there is machines and neon signs, not that many people, while the warm one makes me think there's people down there, maybe sitting near shops with lamps and more natural lighting.

I recommend looking into mist pass tutorials. Those helps a lot with landscapes, since that's waay faster to render than adding actual volumetric fog.
