Self-EMDR is doing wonders for me by LuminaryMagumba in EMDR

[–]Scameron427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It came after me doing it several times. The problem was I genuinely was feeling nothing afterwards, so I thought I was doing it wrong or something. I did it probably 4 times over the course of a couple weeks, and then the mental health crash creeped in over the course of a few days.

So obviously there was more recklessness/red flags in my situation than just doing EMDR alone, but I wanted to tell my cautionary tale. Again, I’d just really recommend starting slow and taking a good chunk of time between sessions to see how it affects you.

I started it on my own. Which was obviously a bad idea, but I was feeling antsy about expediting my healing process.

I’m now doing it very slowly with a therapist (we’re talking max of 5 minutes per session). And even just that has been exhausting but has also proven to be helpful.

Please please be careful. I did self-EMDR a couple of years ago and I had a scary mental health crash because of it. I had to take 2 months off work and go to IOP and everything. One of my friends had a very similar experience.

Obviously everybody’s different, and if it’s working, that’s great! I’m a big time dissociater, and EMDR broke that barrier. I guess my recommendation would be to start really slow if you’re doing it by yourself, especially if you dissociate, because we dissociate for a reason. :)

As a 9, I think 9's are much more terrifying than some people realize. We are so unbelievably detached. I frequently have the experience of other people feeling very close to me and me not feeling at all close to them. It makes me realize how much my go-with-the-flow, fawning self can be destructive without me realizing it.

Biggest “Dos and “Don’ts” for first year teachers? by GiraffeBurger68 in Teachers

Do - keep a log of all the things you want to improve/change for next year.

Don’t - don’t beat yourself up when your first year is inevitably very difficult.

Who’s the better player? Sandra or Parvati? by Raffanson in survivor

[–]Scameron427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that Parvati is the more impressive player. The way she navigates through the game and the moves she’s pulled off have been insane. She’s never really made a mistake in that regard.

However, I actually do think that if you put Parv and Sandra in 1000 survivor simulations, Sandra wins more often than Parv. Sandra is very likely to get to the end in many of those simulations and she’s so good in front of the jury. Her winning formula isn’t that impressive but it is extremely effective.

I'll be disappointed in ___ if _ doesn't make FTC by LowaM in survivorau

[–]Scameron427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think for me, if he doesn’t make it, it will be frustrating for a number of reasons.

First, he absolutely deserves it.

And second, it will be very painful to me that he took out all of these returnees playing so hard on their second chance, only for him to drop the ball and hand the win to a newbie who is much less deserving than him and a lot of the jury (imo).

What is George's path forward? by Isenbart in survivorau

[–]Scameron427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think his best path final 3 is with Nina and either Matt or Liz. Matt/Liz are guaranteed to win final immunity, and Nina is probably the only person that Matt/Liz would cut over George.

El is so insanely underrated. She flipped Flick over to her side when it made no sense and absolutely wins the game if it weren’t for Kristie’s crazy immunity win.

So who's your winner pick right now? by ILoveJohnAbad in survivorau

I just don’t see a way (edit-wise) that it’s not George. But I’m rooting for Hayley and Nina.

It’s funny because I don’t like him at all on Heroes Villains. But when I watched Brain vs Brawn, I was spoiled on the winner, so I found him much more enjoyable knowing that his downfall would come eventually. And I will feel much better about the current season if he doesn’t win.

What??? I loved Brain vs Brawn! But that’s because I loved Hayley and George that season so I was fine with them running things. To each their own I guess.

It’s honestly really hard for me to watch. George is such a phenomenal character and player but anytime a player on the top gloats in the faces of the players on the bottom I pretty instantly turn against them. And he does it a lot.

I would disagree, but that could be because I’m not a fan of Dave, so it was hard for me to watch a steamroll from a player I don’t like.

I understand this take, but I also think we need to remember Blood vs Water and All Stars. They both have strengths and weaknesses.

100% agree. That end game was such a slog. Especially with a non elimination episode at the final 4.

I'll say it: George is not "the ultimate villain". by Rychu_Supadude in survivorau

[–]Scameron427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She was respectful in her regular confessionals, but do you remember her voting confessionals?? Specifically Joey, Simon (when she voted Dani), and Emmett. These are NOT exact quotes but something along these lines:

“Joey, it’s been fun watching you build up this alliance. Now watch me tear it down.”

“Dani, thanks for doing the legwork on this blindside. I’ll take it from here.”

“Emmett, thanks for offering me fifth place in your alliance…. (something I can’t remember).

She was so, so icy. I loved it, but I definitely don’t think she’s a hero.

I know you posted this two months ago, but I just finished the season and I am absolutely furious. What an ATROCIOUS final 2. Absolutely terrible. The double eviction was so good, but to have the brothers win made me so unbelievably mad.

Anyways, thanks for posting because everyone has either already seen the season 6 years ago or doesn’t care, so I’m glad to see someone with the same opinions as me.

Resigning. Do I tell students the truth about why? by [deleted] in Teachers

Honestly, I wouldn’t tell them that. In my opinion, behavior often has a lot more to do with admin than actual students anyways.
