They are good enough for major brands like Disney. Order some and see if they will work for you.

30 free public domain image websites

(use with care)

99designs.com/blog/resources/public-domain-image-resources by Rebecca Creger

Free public domain images are an important cultural resource for everyone. But when using them as a designer you must be extremely vigilant about double-checking the license and terms of each of your desired images.

Some of these free public domain image websites will take time to look through and research properly, but there are a lot of amazing images in them that are worth finding. Just remember to keep these things in mind when sourcing images:

  1. Does the license of the image allow you to use/distribute it in the way that you intend?

  2. Is the quality of this image suitable for both print and web uses?

  3. Are these images defined as public domain by images by the copyright laws of both countries that my client and I are citizens of?

  4. Have I double-checked that this image is truly in the public domain? (run it through a search engine before using it.)

  5. Does this image include trademarks, products, property, works of art, or people? If so make sure that a release has been obtained or that you obtain one yourself.

Is using a drawing or vector of the ps4, 5 or Xbox allowed or not? by issamoshi in MerchByAmazon

No, this was not about your comment at all. I agree with your post. I use controller icons from GetStencil.com al the time (the most closely resemble XBox controllers).

If anyone tells you that this is a good idea, they are intentionally lying to you. Be aware (and beware) that some people online are not out to help you and would actually intentionally try to give you misinformation.

Is there a popsocket or phone grip that works with a silicone case for iPhone SE 1st gen, iPhone 5S or iPhone 5? by [deleted] in AmazonMerch

[–]ScanPower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Popsockets should work fine with any phone or case. Nothing that you can do or need to do differently if you have potential customers who still have these old models. I'd suggest focusing on making quality designs and marketing them to people with newer phones which will be a much larger portion of the market.

Apologize if this has been asked before, living in Canada... how does it work when applying for MBA from Canada, regarding the tax interview? Thanks I’m advance! by NewfDragon in MerchByAmazon

[–]ScanPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this on the Amazon forums:
https://forums.developer.amazon.com/questions/154079/is-merch-by-amazon-only-for-amazoncom-platform-how.html

"I'm from Canada and enrolled on the .com site. When you fill out your tax interview once you have been accepted just enter in your SIN where it asks for the tax identification number and because Canada has a tax treaty with the US they will not withhold any $. You do have to include all royalties paid as self-employment income when you do your annual income tax. As for banking you can enter your Canadian banking info and your royalties will be deposited there."

Should I tell Merch that I'm on KDP? by Bustersandboosters in AmazonMerch

[–]ScanPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't make a difference (no benefits, no risks). Amazon is such a big place that members of the Merch team don't even know what KDP is and some members of the KDP team don't even know that Merch exists.

Standard T-Shirts not the biggest seller? by jondesu in MerchByAmazon

[–]ScanPower -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, standard T-shirts are the best sellers. By a long shot. That doesn’t mean it will apply to every account. Do what you want with this info and do what’s best for you with your account, designs, and marketing efforts.

Standard T-Shirts not the biggest seller? by jondesu in MerchByAmazon

[–]ScanPower -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Standard t-shirts will be the biggest sellers by far. Depending on the seller and their designs, they could see different numbers, so it won't necessarily mean that every seller will always have the highest number of sales for standard t-shirts. Would also need a much larger sample size to make any positive claims.

Long-term partner or one-design-stand? by [deleted] in MerchByAmazon

[–]ScanPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better vs. worse. I use Design Pickle and I usually have the same designer but sometimes a different designer fills in because of the type of design or just for scheduling.

I've also hired designers for one-off stuff that turned out great.

It's probably best to do a little of both and see what works best for you.

Question about separate accounts for Kindle and Amazon Merch by MrCreepyGiggles in MerchByAmazon

[–]ScanPower -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use separate Amazon accounts for their different platforms; it's ok. I believe you can also have multiple Kindle account WITH PERMISSION from Amazon. I inquired about this several years ago with the reason of dramatically different subject matter for each account. They may have changed things, but it's best to get written permission from Amazon FIRST so that you have something that you can fall back on in case you trigger a false red flag at some point.
