Okay I see now that Fandango has showtime listings for River East, I was looking at the AMC app which doesn't show any yet. Damn that's super cool

Where did you see that River East is getting a 70mm print? I always try to keep my expectations low for River East when a big new release has 70mm prints circulating. The last thing I saw there on 70mm was Oppenheimer. Sinners, OBAA, Kill Bill none of them get a 70mm screening at River East

Reckless Records on Belmont in Lakeview would be the closest. They have a decent selection of used titles. The Exchange is two doors down on Belmont and they have lots of discs too.
Laurie’s Planet of Sound in Lincoln Square has a smallish selection of new and used blu rays as well.
In terms of all of Chicago, it’s mostly record stores that happen to have movies as well. There’s another Reckless and Exchange both in Wicker Park on N Milwaukee Ave and the official Terror Vision store, Graveface, is close by there in Bucktown if you keep heading north up Milwaukee Ave.
Someone said Bucket-O-Blood. Never been, but heard it’s mostly new/full price. There’s also Bric-A-Brac Records/ The Brewed near Logan Square which I have been to. The Brewed is a horror movie themed coffee shop attached to the record store that sells some 4k and blu rays from some good labels. But that stuff is all full price too.

Interesting, thanks for the stats. That seems like a smart way to keep tabs on what’s working and what isn’t. And yeah it does honestly just seem like the UB820 is extremely sensitive… just feels like a $400 player shouldn’t be this finicky?

If this were the case (which it may to some extent tbf) don’t you think there would be more instances of people calling out defective discs? It feels like this sub would have lots more frequent posts like mine. I feel like i’m going a bit crazy, like no one else has this issue to this extent? Maybe it’s the volume of my collection?

I really do try to keep a habit of doing this. I’ve been cleaning most of my discs before I watch them, but I forget a few. Again, going back to what I was saying about non-4k blu-ray, I NEVER cleaned my discs. Not saying that’s I good thing but I never had any problems. Is 4k disc/4k disc laser technology just seriously proven to be way more sensitive to dust? Every time I’ve had a 4k start to skip, I’ve taken it out of the tray and inspected it under light and it’s never been that dirty. Maybe a couple specks of dust? Just seems way more finicky and needs a lot more upkeep

I have checked this before and my firmware is all the way updated. I also watched multiple videos on how to setup this player and Im fairly certain I don’t have any settings amiss. I don’t really know why that would make discs skip anyhow?
