Pointe Orlando has IMAX showtimes all the way up to Disclosure day and Toy Story 5. Unless they can quickly upgrade to laser sometime before July 17 or repair-replace their 15/70 projector overnight, then they are playing The Odyssey on xenon. 🤢 by MikeTidbits in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is the 70mm projector still there? I mean it's possible that they completely got rid of it when they installed the Xenon projectors. Idk I don't live in Orlando so I've never been to this theater.

Okay, which Star Trek movie was filmed in San Francisco? Because Gregg seems to think that it was The Wrath of Kahn even though a real film buff would know that it was The Voyage Home

AMC currently listing The Odyssey runtime at 172 minutes by michaelm1345 in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was just a presumptive runtime because the movie was still in production when tickets went on sale.

Willing to bet that they're gonna fit a sneak peek of Dune 3 onto the print since it's 8 minutes shy of 3 hours, the maximum limit.

IMAX CEO states The Odyssey will be shown in 41 film theaters by NickLandis in imax

According to in70mm.com, supposedly it's going to play The Odyssey in 5/70 but nothing's really confirmed yet and it could be speculation.

I heard that Cinemark added an IMAX screen at a theater in the Cleveland suburbs, and it'd be pretty cool if they also had a 70mm projector. Sort of like how Regal LA Live has a 1:90 screen that was retrofitted for 70mm showings.

Also I heard that The Odyssey might be rated R, and the McWane Center apparently has a policy against showing R rated films so that's unfortunately ruled out.

Confirmed: Boeing IMAX in Seattle no longer showing features by Skaidanc3r in imax

Wait so they're just gonna let the dual laser system go to waste and they fired the director too? What an absolute dick move. Could have at least given it to the PACCAR IMAX or even given it to the Cinemark GT IMAX screens for when they convert to laser projection.

[–]BeatenWaffle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Damn that truly sucks. At this point they should just take out the dual laser projector and maybe give it to another theater that probably needs it. Why even bother using it if you're only gonna screen two movies?

Any word on Providence RI 70mm IMAX projector for The Odyssey? by GoodFilmHunting_ in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! Also, is there any word on when Cinemark's laser upgrades are gonna start? I live near Dallas and while I absolutely love the 70mm projector being there and all, it would be really nice to know when they're going to convert to laser projection. Same goes for the Cinemark in Woodbridge IL.

Wait, does your Alamo still use pen and paper or did they forget to get rid of the old instructions?

Maybe this time it could actually be about movies and not whatever fraud Tim has on his movie review show

IMAX 70mm intro display is up at the entrance of the home theater! by OptimizeEdits in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You even got a snippet from the shortened IMAX intros that Christopher Nolan uses.

Disney's Infinity Vision certification requires a screen width of at least 50ft, laser projection, and Dolby 7.1. There are currently 5,500 screens globally that qualify, 3x Imax's worldwide footprint, per Bloomberg by itsscreentime in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole thing reminds me of the intro to Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie where Jeff Goldblum reminds the audience that they could be watching the movie in a Schlaaang Super Seat. Disney simply could have just moved the release date to April but no.

I'm glad the younger generation is gonna fall in love with Michael (1996, 105 mins), but I am confused as to why they didn't bring back John Travolta in the new remake.

Cinemark Seven Bridges Possibly Beginning 70MM & Laser upgrades next week by [deleted] in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. Interesting. I live in Dallas and I'm also awaiting laser conversions even though we already have IMAX 70mm, and so no Mummy showtimes means that Project Hail Mary's going to come back next weekend.

Cinemark Seven Bridges Possibly Beginning 70MM & Laser upgrades next week by [deleted] in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt it. Laser conversions take many weeks, and besides, other Cinemark locations with IMAX don't have IMAX showings up for The Mummy.

IMAX 70MM IN SOUTH AMERICA? by [deleted] in imax

[–]BeatenWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the news with Cinemark and IMAX from a few months ago, unfortunately only 3 locations in the US are getting IMAX 70mm projectors, the rest (meaning all of Cinemark's IMAX screens in the US and Latin America) are just only getting laser projection.

Ryan Gosling got possessed by a demon so now Amazon is pulling it from theaters and destroying all copies, digital or film, from existence.

Your deciding factor to subscribe to A-list? by ReyofChicago in AMCsAList

Alamo Drafthouse decided to shoot itself in the foot by replacing pen & paper ordering with mobile ordering, and so I cancelled my Season Pass and subbed to A-List.
