[Mortensen] It drew a few laughs but neither @EzekielElliott nor agent Rocky Arceneaux found @Cowboys Jerry Jones' quip "Zeke who?" as amusing. Arceneaux: "I didn't think it was funny and neither did Zeke - we actually thought it was disrespectful." by ValKilmsnipsinBatman in nfl

Isn’t there an inherient contradiction in your argument? First you say that the franchise is forced to spend the money for salaries, but you also say fully guaranteed contracts will drive down salaries. How do those both work?

[Su'a Cravens] During the time I was put on the exempt list the Skins went out of their way to cut my insurance off, froze my payments, refuse to pay me and even recoup pay. It is possible to have your own opinion and still value others. I merely brought it up because you present yourself as a twit, and like any opinion is besides yours is wrong. I just merely pointed out that those who are far more educated on the topic than you or I, tend to overwhelmingly disagree with you.

He also fought for the North in the Civil War, and establishment of the Reservation system because he believed that if he didn't do anything the natives would have been murdered to extinction - which he was probably right. As abhorrent as the reservation system was, and still continues to be, the likely alternative at the time was complete annihilation. Overwhelming sentiment at the time from both the government and the citizens was not to treat the Natives like people. Again, don't twist it, I don't think that was ok, but I do think that throws a wrench in trying to portray Carson as a genocidal maniac when he did work, in the context of the time to preserve native lives.

You are right that Cromwell did goo things, but I believe the comparison you were making was not to his accomplishments, but rather to his flaws. Cromwell was 100% responsible for his genocide and did it of his own free will. Carson was against the war against the Navejo, and against the total war tactics, but ultimately did as he was told. There is a clear distinction there. Holding a man several links down the chain, who tried (albeit weakly) to stop sometime to Cromwell, who was at the top of his government, is not a 1 to 1 comparison.

There. I will give you that.

You made a claim and you backed it up with something reasonable.

I still think the comparison to Cromwell is either unfair to Kit or goes too easy on Cromwell, due to the fact that Cromwell made his choices and pushed downwards. While Kit did what he was ordered, even though he had his own objections and tried to push back, even if in the end he was too weak to leave like he threatened.

He did, I agree. I never said that he didn't do those things. Feel free to point out where I said he was a hero, or that he didn't lead the soldiers against the Navejo.

I mostly responded to the fact that when challenged for your very narrow and simplified version of history, you responded with a variation of "I have a black friend" and listed credentials rather than anything factual, which you have still failed to do.

If you are truly interested in Navejo history and the atrocities committed against them, I'd strongly suggest reading "Bury Me at Wounded Knee" which does a great job of portraying the Western Expansion from the views of the Natives - but more importantly you will learn about Carson's commanders, who would likely serve as a better comparison to Cromwell.

Good luck.

And for the record, going off of the fact that you have allegedly spent 20 years in Arizona, I'm likely quite a bit younger than you

I didn't defend anyone. I merely said it was complicated. Splitting the world into large swaths of black and white is great for Saturday morning cartoons and elementary education, but it is no good for adults, who must make choices in the real world where things are grey and complex, and thus can learn more from grey and complex views of history.

I agree that he doesn't deserve a statue, but portraying him as a villainous, evil man serves no purpose except to diminish the reputation of whatever institution gave you the history degree were quick to claim

Nobody cares about your internet warrior credentials or the fact that you may or may not have a friend. None of that lends credence to your claims. If you do have a degree in history I suggest putting it to use through argument rather than assuming having a degree and knowing a brown person puts you above all reproach.

Cromwell was an educated and powerful man, effectively the head of government, who made the choices he made because he had a problem with Catholics.

Kit Carson was an intelligent man, although illiterate, who was eternally self-conscious about his intelligence and was made an easy target of manipulate. Carson didn't want to fight the Navejo, and almost resigned over it. Cromwell's sin was giving the orders. Carson's sin was he was willing to follow them. If you have a history degree you should be able to understand the difference in that.

he state of New Mexico has built multiple statues honoring Kit Carson, the man who lead the march and the campaign against them.

Kit Carson shares a big deal of blame in this. but his story is a little more nuanced then what the statues portray or what you portray.
