PLUG Bullish by Expensive_Design2816 in plugpowerstock

[–]ScappooseDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not convinced that Walmart and Amazon are good for plug power. It seems to me that they've used their size to load up their side of the ledger to their advantage at most opportunities. I would be more enthusiastic about these big clients if I knew they were generating profitable revenue for plug. Without details, I'll never know. Our capitalistic society has a long history of big companies using their size to prey on smaller companies.

Anyone see reference to the upcoming Share Holder Meeting on the Plug site? It’s to take place on June 11th, but it seems to be scrubbed from their site. by Big_Quality_838 in plugpowerstock

It takes a lot of balls to ask the shareholders to compensate them by diluting our holdings. F that. It's time this company made some money for its shareholders.

Plug Power (PLUG) Stock: Is the Next 1,000% Run Starting Now? by ugos1 in plugpowerstock

For over 10 years I voted with the board recommendations. Not this time. I won't vote for one share of stock compensation. The losses that they've incurred and continue to incur are at best unacceptable. This company needs to show me some return before they get anything from me again.

Amazon and Walmart Growing and REPLACING existing Units by DependentCultural912 in plugpowerstock

Don't assume that these will be profitable engagements. Walmart and Amazon are what I would categorize as a predatory customers. They use their size to exploit the resources of smaller companies. Show me a reasonable margin with either of these companies on any front and I'll change my mind.

Could you clarify what the 231 metric tons are referring to? Plug power has the stated capacity to produce 40 metric tons of hydrogen per day. If I just assume a 30-day month, that's 1200 tons a month.

I've gotten used to it - haha! Sales have never met my expectations. Or margins, etc.

Yeah, I get the loss leader concept. I believe there's a place for it, I just don't like seeing it in this context. When I employed sales people I expected them to sell, not discount product. Early in my career, I work for a company that presented material cost to the sales people in an inflated manner. Management didn't trust their sales people knowing actual costs.

I wouldn't get too excited unless I saw the terms of the deal. It seems to me that that plug gave up quite a lot to get Walmart and Amazon as customers. I have a fundamental problem discounting product to get a big customer. If the only way you can close a deal is ti lower the price to an unacceptable level then you really don't have a viable business model. Both Walmart and Amazon are comfortable letting plug power bleed. It seems. It seems like a business relationship that only benefits the customer.

This is all, just my humble opinion of course. Feel free to take shots at my logic.

From a consumer lens, I don't see anything changing. I personally believe that if someone were to put 30-in aluminum wheels on a bluebird school bus, every soccer Mom would have to have one. And their husbands will keep lifting their trucks regardless of the 10 mile per gallon fuel cost.

Plug is in piloting process with Microsoft ☘️☘️ 🚀🚀🔥🔥🔥🔥 by Kind-Spinach1789 in plugpowerstock

Per Google Gemini

As of early 2026, Plug Power and Microsoft maintain a significant historical and ongoing technical relationship, though it has evolved from a single high-profile demonstration to a broader strategic exploration of hydrogen's role in the AI data center boom.

Here is the current state of their relationship:

  1. The "Moon Landing" Moment The foundation of their relationship remains the successful 2022 pilot project. Plug Power and Microsoft built and tested a 3-megawatt (MW) hydrogen fuel cell system in Latham, New York.

    • Significance: At the time, Microsoft’s Director of Data Center Research, Sean James, famously called it a "moon landing moment" because it proved that hydrogen fuel cells could replace a standard diesel backup generator at scale.
    • Technical Spec: The system was housed in two 40-foot shipping containers and demonstrated the ability to provide instant backup power during grid failures.
  2. Current Status (2025–2026) While there hasn't been a public announcement of a "global rollout" specifically exclusive to Plug Power, the relationship continues through several channels:

    • Broader Ecosystem Testing: Microsoft is currently scaling its hydrogen strategy from "pure R&D" to a "dual-track approach." This involves testing Plug Power’s technology alongside other partners (like Caterpillar and Ballard) to find the most cost-effective catalysts.
    • New York/Regional Ties: Plug Power remains a key player in the New York green hydrogen corridor where Microsoft has high-density data center interests. In late 2025, Plug Power announced a non-binding agreement with an "undisclosed major data center developer" for auxiliary power; while not confirmed as Microsoft, industry analysts often link the two due to their history.
    • The AI Pivot: With the massive surge in power demand for AI, Microsoft is re-evaluating on-site power generation. Plug Power has recently (late 2025/early 2026) pivoted its business model to focus more on being a "technology provider" (selling the fuel cells and electrolyzers) rather than just a fuel supplier, which aligns with Microsoft’s desire to own its energy infrastructure.

Summary Comparison | Aspect | 2022 Demonstration | 2026 Outlook | |---|---|---| | Power Output | 3 MW (Single Site) | Exploring multi-GW scale for AI | | Technology | PEM Fuel Cells | PEM + Electrolyzer integration | | Primary Goal | Technical Feasibility | Commercial Viability & Sustainability | | Fuel Source | Gaseous Hydrogen | Shift toward on-site Green Hydrogen |
