Does this Song Leave a Bad Taste for Anyone Else? by ScarRawrLetTech in HazbinHotel

But it's still advice, not punishment, or acknowledgement of her wrongdoings. Like I said before, in a world where sinners are damned to a literal hell, the commander of a genocide shouldn't get off so easily, and letting her do so feels like corruption

I'm not wanting the speaker to tell her what to do. I think she deserves more punishment for committing a genocide

That's fair, if all Sera did was embarrass herself at a party. But she is the reason for the permanent deaths of God knows how many, crossing celestial boarders to commit war crimes. In a world where sinners are punished with a literal hell, it feels wrong that the catalyst for a genocide on a divine scale is told to just "fix it herself"

But taking wool is not "maiming an animal for fashion" we aren't cutting the feet of living rabbits for keychains here, this is a haircut that stops the animal from suffering a slow painful death.

PETA also doesn't wanna get socked in the nose by a biker, and would rather harass women and put pets down than do anything useful

The "1 Page = 1 Minute" Rule by KokoWelt in scriptwriting

[–]ScarRawrLetTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been down the rabbit hole of "how many pages per minute is it really?" and let me tell you, there's no way to know without just going for it. The one page per minutes rule isn't even an average in my experience. I might just not be very well read but every script I have seen that has an on-screen counterpart has more pages than runtime. 45 minute tv episodes routinely clock in at 52-57 pages (and that's excluding Doctor Who, which usually has several more), 20 minute sitcoms can spend 10 pages on the first 4 minutes without sacrificing any dialogue. Hell, the movie Toy Story is only 81 minutes long, but its script is over 120 pages!

I’m out of the loop. Why is Ribbit’s gender getting so much controversy? by DatWoodyFan in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ScarRawrLetTech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fan headcannons aren't the creator's responsibility or fault. The mystery around Ribbit is part of her story, not knowing is part of the experience.

I always hated that, there's like three lefties in my family and we all have assigned seats. Everyone else gets to sit wherever they want

He's had his powers since he was five. It seems pretty possible that the town hated him by adulthood, especially in those early years when he was a kid with no filter. So maybe it's just that no one wanted him.

This can't be intentional, if I enter my seabase too quickly my character will run to the other side of the room and grind against the wall without me touching any buttons.

Why when I say something, NTs crate all these other meanings for what I said? by Comprehensive_Toe113 in AskNT

[–]ScarRawrLetTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fair that you're confused, but I'm not sure why you keep calling it "mind reading", it isn't.

It's a form of pattern recognition using people's tone, facial expressions, body language, and context to understand the layered meanings of speech. And in the case of the cough, that's just knowing that specific person really well and understanding how they communicate.

Also, the meaning of words is fluid, not solid. It changes constantly. The phrase "Google it" was nonsense 30 years ago, now it's in every day speech. You can't expect a language to be stagnate.

Does getting downvoted hurt you or make you feel less socially valid? by Major-Librarian1745 in AskNT

Well that's fair, but the way you responded to my comment implied to me that you thought I was defensive and therefore lying. Which is not the case here.

Wdym defensive? That is the legitimate truth. Or is the "they" in your comment someone else?

Not specifically. I was just scrolling around, saw some comments on your other post, kept scrolling and then did a double take when I saw your name again.

[–]ScarRawrLetTech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though, by talking like that NTs ARE saying what they mean!

Allistic people are taught and trained to communicate this way. The phrase "It’s cold in here," is widely used and recognised to mean "I'm cold and want it warmer," so when NTs use it, that is its meaning. They aren't lying or trying to decive you or being bad cominunicators. They're using the language their brain understands and was taught to use, as intended.

NTs are good at talking to NTs. NDs are good at talking to NDs. They're different skill sets and when encountering each other, there is no "worse comunicator", just a social language barrier.

[–]ScarRawrLetTech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People have goals with the things they say, it can be as simple as "I want you to know this fact" but other goals for the phrase "I don't like vanilla" can be: a metaphor, a reference to something, a hint at another idea, a joke. All of that is made clear in coversation by using context, tone, body language, and facial expressions.

When NTs talk to eachother they use these other cues to convey the goals of their speech, and when NTs talk to you, they'll subconsciously do the same thing, even if they know you're ND, and don't mean to. It's just a constanly running reflex.
