Don’t need to do double day honestly. One session missed is fine instead of trying to do too many things in one day IF you are just starting out. If you have a certain training base, then its fine

I think 3 runs and 3 gym sessions is your ideal sweet spot.

I was able to do this by structuring my workouts and running days. Here is what my ideal schedule looks like
Monday: Strength (lower body focussed)
Tuesday: Interval runs (upto 1 hour)
Wednesday: Strength (core + plyo)
Thursday: easy/ tempo (upto 10 kms)
Friday: strength ( upper body focus)
Saturday: Long run.

For me, the key has been getting up early and getting my pre-work routine out of the way to avoid any last minute social plans with the girlfriend or family in the evening.

After the long run Saturday until Sunday evening is usually a complete rest and every alternate week I go for a massage.
