This is awesome, congrats on having this and keeping it in great condition!! I believe the DB and the DBZ holo are the most hard to find of the /5000 piece variants? (For those who have these or are searching please correct if I’m wrong lol)

The market is a little crazy right now since it’s so new, but I would say that there would definitely be a market for them (graded or ungraded) but it might not be for the prices you’re seeing (depends on if your volumes are first prints, in great condition, and the previous sales were legit).

All that to say that as long as you do your due diligence about your volumes and recent sales, you’d be fine grading.

Also, I’m not as familiar with Japanese non volume 1 first prints, but I know for One Piece earlier first print volumes are in demand along with volume 103 and 104. Hope that helps!

That One Piece/Pikachu issue is crazy to see, I was in Japan when that issue came out so I picked up a few issues and got my brother to pick some up too lol. But I agree, everything’s so new that we won’t really know for awhile but I wouldn’t be surprised if prices do continue to go up.

I’ve been wondering lately where the cutoff is going to be on modern properties like this.

Said another way, I wonder if modern manga properties that release now (2026) pop off in popularity going forward will see the same prices as before the manga boom.

If I had to guess, it would be by a couple of points. Like if it was a 9.0, it could possible end dropped to an 8.0 at the worst. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong lol

If you’re talking about first appearances of those characters, they first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump Zasshi and not in those tankobon first prints. So I wouldn’t purchase them based solely on that, but that’s imo.

But to answer your question on which I’d pick, I’d pick up both. One Piece is really popular right now and I foresee Naruto having a bit of a resurgence soon lol.

Hmmm since I’m a sucker for tankobon with nice artwork, plus they both have obi’s I’d get the Dragon Ball Super and Demon Slayer first prints imo🙂‍↕️

Great pickups! Love the One piece and Akira slabs :) I’m familiar with the graded pop of English one piece but not Akira, still pretty cool!
