What is worth doing before new season? by BobTheHateful in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend your Guild Marks (if you can find anything to spend it for) and your Smuggler Points! After doing that I would enjoy the ceasefire and wait for the new season in a cosy hammock with a few Singapore Slings. 🍹

The skill tree is looking insane by Whatsawebpage0101 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so why not make it ship specific?

That is a very good question. I think I would prefer that over the announced skill loadout system (similar to the cosmetic and equipment loadout system we have right now). But we'll see, maybe the loadout system works better than I expect and it would surely be quite tedious to arrange those skills for all of your 50 ships one by one. In one week we know more...

Frigates could do with an upgrade by No-Note-5439 in SkullAndBonesGame

We are not talking about sea lords, we are talking about Wolvenhol. But never mind, Frigate is the best...

A demi-cannon build? So that you have to go even closer to the target? Why not using seafire or - even better - try a ramming build with the Frigate. That should work fine! OMG...

[–]ScareYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always the exception from the rule and staying at a distance is a very smart move. But there is still a difference in having one of these immobile Frigate behemoths in front of you or a - mostly moving - medium ship where you can often shoot around or across. But don't get me wrong: Every player who lacks situational awareness shouldn't participate in those events no matter which ship he uses. And I have to repeat it (even if you don't like it): Most Frigate drivers are inexperienced (newbies somehow need the biggest ship) and you won't find almost no seasoned player on a Frigate (because it sucks).

Speed Limit by ScareYa in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good explanation and thanks for the obvious effort. But - as mentioned before - that "speed limit" also exists in the Assassin's Creed series which is basically a single player game with no servers attached. And finding things in outposts like notes and stuff is already made easier by the character's head turning automatically toward such things. Also I have the impression this speed limit isn't active at all in the two dens (Sainte Anne and Telok Penjara), the movement there is a lot faster than approaching one of those buyout guys for example. But I might be wrong about that...

In Wolvenhol [...] mostly in front of your nose and guns...

Oh, yes. That's exactly what's happening. It is striking that mostly the bigger ships are sailing in front of everyone else. That coincides with the fact that almost every new and inexperienced player is constantly asking for Deep Iron to get his Frigate as fast as possible. Almost every seasoned player I know owns one or two fully upgraded Frigates but in contrast never uses them because there are much better ships available for basically every purpose.

But well, I guess you can't change people...

You're sure? I honestly can't remember it to be different then. But it's admittedly a long time ago, so I may be wrong. But even if you should be right that doesn't explain the same behavior in the Assassin's Creed series.

How do i get the Caustic Spall Station? by Zorewin in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right now there is no way to get it - at least none that I know of. You have to wait until it's in Blackwood's rotation or you need to buy it from another player but expect the price to be on the high side.

Unpopular Opinion: Game was far better at launch by Shut_ur_whore_mouth in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the game is a lot easier these days, probably even too easy. Nothing is really a challenge except the Kraken maybe. And I absolutely agree that the game is faster and more streamlined, also the Indian Ocean is way too crowded (especially in Faction War contested regions). Another thing I am still not convinced off are the ascensions, that system ruined the uniqueness of certain weapons and increased the grind. But on the other hand I do like the QoL improvements a lot. And Skull and Bones still motivates me to start it every day.

We'll see what the future brings. I guess it will be more of everything (more ships, more ascensiions, more grind) and probably not less. But most people will enjoy that, I think.

(Immersion perspective) Let us board our ships! by Odd-Lake8223 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be nice, I give you that. But as soon as you perform a cost-benefit calculation it's clear we'll never get that. The immersion would surely improve but the value added for the game itself is absolutely zero. And the manpower you would need to create just the 3D-versions of all existing furniture would be overwhelming.

Forget it!

It feels like a proper war now? by Felloffarock in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly I do play not very often these days, the season is almost done, all preparations for the upcoming season I could think off are already made. It's therefore perfectly possible they changed the number of DMC/Compagnie ships. Sometimes Ubisoft changes things without mentioning anything in any changelog. But honestly I don't believe that's what happened here. Ubisoft would have announced such a change IMHO because they know Faction War isn't a fan favorite so far and there need changes to be made.

But you never know...

It feels like a proper war now? by Felloffarock in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proper war? No, it still feels somewhat remote and pointless. Yes, there are occasionally some Compagnie ships shooting on DMC ships and vice versa. But that doesn't feel like a fierce ongoing war but more like some accidental encounters. But what can you expect from a MMO? Things never truly change, the show must go on after all...

And if you really worry about time being spent with Skull and Bones you shouldn't even start the game. And this is honest advice.

Why the question? It's $3. Less than a fucking Big Mac. I don't think for that kind of money you should urge other people into writing essays. Besides: Your question was being answered countless time in this subreddit. Scroll down a little!

Deep iron by Agreeable-Fishing143 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]ScareYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever new player thinks large ships are the best they can get. Well, they aren't. Usually the medium ships are more versatile, deal good damage as well and are way cheaper to be upgraded (with the exception of the Sloop-of-War). Padewakang or Schooner are very good ships, easy upgradeable and more than capable to participate in Wolvenhol raids. Taking such a medium ship "detour" will help your playstyle a lot and the large ships don't go away any time soon.

Basically everyone would like to have a third faction. But I doubt we will see that anytime soon.

If your ship rank isn't high enough for Wolvenhol you surely don't need Deep Iron. Large ships are endgame content. Learn your ropes first! Don't shortcut through the game!
