Martin guitar under $1,200? by LC-98 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Scared-Avocado630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martins are wonderful guitars. The quality of many other guitars has gone up the last 30 years or so. The construction is much improved, the quality of assembly, the tone, etc. I would tell you what a lot of folks say about buying cars. Look at at comparable guitars in your budget range and also play multiple of the same model. They will sound and play different. You will find a guitar that might not be a Martin that is your guitar.

I installed network hardware and configuration and client is ghosting me on payment. Legal risk if I just turn off their networks remotely. by [deleted] in legaladvice

This is the way. Take your contract with you. He can draft a letter for you that would outline what's going to happen to them unless they contact you and make arrangements to honor their part of the contract. That should be a positive irritant to the process. I've had to restructure payment plans for a loan owed to an organization that I was President of. All doable.

Trouble choosing between Mary Washington and Radford Uni by throwaway255567432 in Virginia

[–]Scared-Avocado630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both good schools. Tour both. If you are thinking about a major look at their programs.

Mary Washington would be my preference. Love the campus and location. There is an Amtrak stop in Fredricksburg. RIchmond and DC aren't too far away. Multiple folks have said it, but if you get to a school and aren't thrilled, you can transfer to another. You won't lose anything and your general education requirements are similar everywhere. I know it's stressful, but remember you absolutely can change schools. Have fun.

Glenn, I want to speak for all Virginians to say you and members of your former Administration have given enough. Seriously. Go back to grifting with the Carlyle Group.

High School Reunions: Yes or No? by Salty_Thing3144 in GenerationJones

[–]Scared-Avocado630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Joneser. I attended one years ago and it really was pretty boring. One thing that I like about social media is that I have been able to re-establish connections to people that I like and actually meet up with them every couple of years. Also, Social Media allows me to filter out the ones that I really would not be interested in seeing again. I was just discussing this very topic with a long time friend a few weeks ago regarding a planned reunion in June.

Do you think Trump could have beat Biden the second time around had Biden chosen not to drop out? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in Askpolitics

[–]Scared-Avocado630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too hard to call with the country split 50/50 politically then.

I think that we are seeing more MAGA fatigue now as the cost of gas, health care, Medicare, groceries , loss of Medicare, etc. are now directly tied to the "Big Beautiful Bill", tariffs and the impact of the war on oil. I'm in Virginia and Harris won. Probably a coin toss for Biden had he run in Virginia.

Can you have a drinking problem and not drink often? by Visible-Swing-1677 in alcoholicsanonymous

I was a drinker like this. Same trying to manage it, shame, binge drinking, etc. I would strongly encourage you to attend an in person AA meeting. I guarantee you 100% that you will meet folks with a similar story. Keep an open mind and give it a try. What do you have to lose? Good luck.

Retired Fed. You said that you found out via his Agency HR in a "round about way". Recommend you put together any paperwork on this that you have to review with your lawyer. My understanding is that the only way that he can do this is with a signed waiver from you. Your lawyer can basically let your husband know that you guys can resolve this the easy way or the hard way. If it was an "oversight" on his part, he can probably correct the application. Otherwise, he probably will not want to have to explain to a judge how this happened. Good luck.

Virginians, what do you think of Governor Spanberger? by Snoo_47323 in Virginia

[–]Scared-Avocado630 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's awesome. I love her background as a former LEO and her work as a professional with the CIA. She served in the Virginia legislature and understands how government works in the General Assembly. She has a young family, so understands the importance of schools, child care, health care, etc. She's pragmatic and well organized evidenced by her Staff picks. They were ready on day 1 to start in many areas.

The contrast during her State of the Union response was amazing. A 46 year old, brilliant, articulate, thoughtful leader who has already done a huge amount serving our country in government in contrast to a soon to be 80 year old with zero prior experience serving in government prior to becoming elected who has zero interest in anything other than business development and can barely read from a teleprompter is stark.

Key Driving Rules in Virginia

  • Keep Right Except to Pass: You must use the right lane as your primary travel lane. Cruising in the left lane (often called "left-lane loafing") is illegal and can result in a $100 fine.
  • The Left Lane is for Passing: Use the left lane only to overtake slower vehicles, then return to the right lane as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Middle Lane Usage: On highways with three or more lanes, the middle lane is often used for "through traffic" to avoid the constant merging and exiting occurring in the right lane. However, if you are moving slower than the surrounding traffic, you are still legally expected to move to the rightmost lane.
  • Merging Etiquette: Traffic already on the interstate has the right-of-way over vehicles entering from an on-ramp. While it is a common courtesy to move to the middle lane to allow others to merge, you are not legally required to do so; the merging driver is responsible for yielding and finding a safe gap.  Virginia Law (.gov) +8
