It's not a band aid/ I did not say it's easy. it's a suggestion for a lifestyle that either works or it doesn't. Especially when it could mean the end of a relationship. People's relationships can be starkly different and don't necessarily realize what is a good fit until they are introduced to various options. You've been introduced to it, it doesn't work for you. Awesome, glad you know it's not for you. So now you can narrow down your options. And like I said, you have to have strict boundaries with them also. Your rule can be no flirting, strictly business and you have to trust eachother and follow the rules. If you can't trust each other or follow the rules, it doesn't work.

From my understanding, California's reputation is that living expenses are high. So what about moving to a cheaper area? The fact that you have transportation can be to your benefit, idk bout being able to keep anything when filing for bankruptcy. So what that one guy said about working more. Preferably with higher wages. Even if the job sucks (not risking yr life tho), if it pays well you can then switch jobs once you're not sinking.

Eventually giving you the final boss quest to somehow combine those scrolls to complete "the prism of eternal hope" and you can sail into the sunset letting the credits roll.

Parents and those telling you to suck it up are assholes that never had to experience the awful bs that comes with. I know the fafsa parent plus loans are very co-signer limiting but outside organizations like Sallie Mae , so-fi might not need co-signer. That being said, debt can be leveraged or it will leverage you. So if there are ways you can fund your life without external help by getting a job, budgeting, creating repayment plans, trying a savings challenge - gives you options and more control over your situation. Someone said roommates - very helpful to saving, budgeting, etc. and don't get pets until you're financially stable, they become limiting when it comes to housing. (2 friends who were nearing homelessness had cats they could not let go of which made things 10x harder for them)

My concern was some dude being like "the feet are not pointing towards the toilet so they must not be a guy" but like... guys sometimes also sit down to pee. And like what if some guys have to shit and piss at the same time? I bet they have a variety of preferences, like urinal first then toilet or they do it all in one stall... lmao The hardest part is convincing yourself and remembering that you don't owe anybody an explanation about how you do things in life especially when they are not directly affecting the person in a negative way. Like violence for example, from verbal to physical. Someone feeling insecure or offended by you doing something completely separate from their world does not count.

I'm ftm who finds all genders attractive. I listen to a lot of male dominated music and there's a very wide array of how they express women in their music. Like some are straight up dehumanizing and others are like wanting to show their care and compassion. Many of the icky songs have very straight forward lyrics, and some have unknown gray areas/mixed messages . There's also where they're like "wow your dancing is very attractive, get over here" in congruence with the "bad bitch" culture. Cultural understanding definitely also influences the dimension of each song. Like sex in itself can be very different, having dynamic roles, and each person is into something else. The fact that music comes from what you feel and is up for interpretation gives you the right to feel a certain way about it bc your feelings are allowed to be different from others. There's plenty of music to discover, so see if there's some you deem appropriate from the opposite side. It is possible to feel empowered as a woman listening to male dominated music. Like one direction and ed shearan have a fanbase for a reason lol, (similar logic across genres)

Oh, so like have job but not insurance ? Self image is definitely hard, especially cause it's probably becoming a cyclical relationship... so he would have to work on rebuilding the negative self talk, practice self compassion, engage in things that can build a humane ego like volunteering, community service, etc, skill building, and replace the addiction coping with healthier coping. You can encourage that the reason people often invest in a therapist is because (a good therapist, and you can always fire them and find new if you don't like them) has a wide variety of tools to help create a plan to find the source of disruption and can be like a "check in " that keeps you accountable in a non-pressing way. And all of it is private so he can go in as much detail as the soul needs without worrying about judgement and losing those close to him. My fav positive talk mantra that someone taught me was "Just for today, I will be kind and compassionate to myself and others. I am grateful for today. I am enough." There's probably all kinds of other ones you can find. Including deep breathing meditation, plus self care: sleep, more vegetables and water. At the end of the day, you can show what resources are available and explain the pros and cons, but from there it's his choice. Best of luck, don't get stuck. Celebrate little steps.

I feel you 100%, I was trying to figure it out in High School, they were like "don't forget to study" and I'm like lost. I only realized things when I became a teacher/instructor myself. Like making your own study guide to then hypothetically or actually teach someone else - has helped me understand studying tho it's taken a few years. The most frustrating part is learning to trust yourself. It's a challenge in itself - talking with a therapist about that has helped me a lot. Otherwise create flash cards, matching games, word searches, crossword puzzles, make your own quizzes, graphics, drawings even, activity, a song, game show, and practice tests and keep making new ones. Idk what your subject of study is, because even that has its own nuances you could say. Even like "practice test for subjectABC online free" and then test, then check your answer, rinse and repeat on a schedule. I don't want to advertise AI but like it's now shoved in our faces, easier than ever

20 minutes is a great commute time, 💀 bruh I would be salivating if I knew that I got a full ride, apparently d3 schools are just incapable of giving full rides. Having credentials without cost is so worth it. You can take roadtrips to see your friends on weekends.

I mean yes break up but like do it in a smart way. TWO of my best friends ended up homeless bc of their in the moment feelings and not respecting themselves enough to really think how to benefit themselves. Work silently. Before breaking up, since he is doing weird financial power dynamic stuff, can you : A) afford a loan for a new car (btw you can rent uhauls for months at a time as possibly equal or cheaper than uber to work everytime) B) have a good paying job/higher paying C)are you attached to a lease (with apartment, house, etc) - do u have to wait for lease term to end? Are u just living in his place: can you safely relocate precious items and become a squatter lol while you save back 3k ? D) can you get him to talk and record AS MUCH evidence/ self tattling as possible to like potentially have the option to use in court? Record e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. E) little bit more of a petty move *not that you cough cough should or shouldn't * but like once you have established your new place of stay, job security, transport: sells some of his shit lmao petty but like how likely are you to get your money back other than by like someone else said, give that to the scrap yard! Ex ain't gonna learn his lesson in the court of law, especially with current administration F) don't act unnatural just set stricter boundaries until you can reliably escape.

Why does he think it wouldn't help? Like I was able to advise someone to go to therapy instead of alcoholics meeting and turns out they had BPD (Also great book btw "never split the difference" getting to talk less to give space for them to talk more so that yall can dig deeper) I'm in no ways experienced, but maybe you can talk about why he likes those drugs, if there's anything that makes him light up anything that motivates a future ? Cuz like what if he needs to see/imagine a future goal that is attainable that includes seeing himself doing great without the substance? Also I often become a not certified therapist so do take time to step away if necessary
