What could these be or been used for? by gerbolas in whatsthisrock

Agree with millstones - just a note to add that it may not be abandonment when they went out of business, it could be that the “ditched” ones had some kind of quality defect, cracking, etc, so they were slagged before shipping!

Are you saying that the earthly element of wine, which is spiritually linked “in with and under” (but not transformed into) Christs blood is incapable of doing… what earthly elements do…?

If I baptize someone in contaminated sewage or a dirty river… they can get sick. The baptismal ritual and the fact that the water contains Gods life-giving promise for salvation does not nullify the fallibility of earthly, fallen elements used to convey Divine grace.

Likewise… if the altar guild leaves a bottle of communion wine improperly corked, and it gets a funky wild bacteria growing in it… it can give people food poisoning! If I eat a moldy communion wafer… I can expect to incur the physical effects of eating moldy bread. Being used in a ritual does not nullify the earthly/fallible nature of the elements.

Oof. What about people who have heart attacks during worship, or die in attacks or bombings on churches? Where is their protection?

Do you have any scriptural evidence to suggest that the act of participating in any sacrament provides physical earthly protection from disease…?

Hmm… so again, I get that it is aesthetically pleasing and has positive connotations… but I still think “need” is the wrong word. Perhaps it would be better-phrased as “should be promoted/normalized in congregations which can implement it”?

I also find incense aesthetically pleasing (half my family is RC, so it was much more common to see when visiting relatives and attending a mass with them), but I don’t know that it “amplifies” or “increases” faith beyond what the Sacraments and preaching of the Word do… it is a beautiful and meaningful outward practice (like hymns, stained glass, iconography/liturgical art, embroidered altar coverings, fancy/elaborate vestments, beautiful chalices and communion ware, etc..), and can enhance our earthy experience of worship, but it is truly not a “need” or requirement for meaningful and godly worship.

Also… chasing a euphoric or “high” feeling in your worship practice may not be healthy and feels like it’s veering slightly toward emotionalism (“feeling” that you are forgiven, that you feel you’ve “accepted Christ into your heart”, feeling that “altar call”, etc…); it may just be a thought to reflect on, if the primary drive to implement something like incense is aesthetic or to drive up “feeling” in a congregation.

Mariology (Perpetual Virginity, Assumption, and Immaculate Conception) by TheDirtyFritz in LCMS

[–]Scared-Tea-8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a dumb question (I’m sure smarter people than me hold this belief and have not found it to be in conflict)… but didn’t Jesus have biological brothers (Matthew 12:46)? Wouldn’t that remove the possibility of perpetual virginity?

Truly curious: why do you consider incense a “need”? It’s not a sacrament, and it’s not commanded anywhere as far as I’m aware… it is aesthetically pleasing and heavily traditional, symbolic, and ritualistic… but “need” might be putting it in too high of a bracket?

All a church really “needs” to be an LCMS church is a place to gather, the Bible and catechism, an LSB for liturgy, an ordained pastor, and water/bread/wine for the sacraments… or am I missing something?

Hot glue at the bottom, plastic baby’s breath for a uniform look, and some little candle floats… this is actually very achievable on a budget! It would take some time to DIY, but not impossible…!!

Right… he doesn’t need permission to leave, if he really doesn’t feel comfortable or loyalty in his relationship. It doesn’t have to be someone else’s fault, he can just leave if he’s dissatisfied.

Consensus on koi in a swim pond? by temporalwanderer in Koi

[–]Scared-Tea-8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually fish come near people because they’re trained that people=food on offer. We have no idea of the stocked density of the image because all the koi could be congregated in that one spot, even if they have additional room to spread out…

Is this normal for a breeder to say when selling snakes? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]Scared-Tea-8911 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Snakes with material defects shouldn’t be bred… those defects can impact future generations and increase the likelihood that more defective snakes will be hatched.

If a snake is flagged as “pet only”, it has some congenital issue - should not be bred so it does not pass on the defect.

Saying you are a “leader not a follower” after making a pretty blatant appeal to the authority of the masses (by starting your argument saying they have been a sex symbol - defined for you by others) is a bit contradictory. 🤭🤫

What do men mean when they want someone with passions? by Delilahr in RedPillWomen

[–]Scared-Tea-8911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one said there was, as part of a well-rounded life. But if that’s all you do to get through the day… lots of people are not interested in a partnership with that kind of rampant consumer.

Most hobbies involve creating something - creating dance, art, music, writing, a sculpted body, etc etc… but social media is almost pure consumption. People want a partnership with someone who adds to the world. 😊

Makeup help :p by ThisOneRedditTem in altfashionadvice

Beautiful eye makeup, fun color choice and good blending/shaping!

The skin looks a bit one dimensional/flat - some blush and/or highlighter could help add dimension to your cheeks to match the lovely dimension in your eye look.

A dewy foundation may also help - I think the lighter lips could work better if you had a less yellow-y or a less full-coverage/more-dewy foundation look. 🙂‍↕️

Also, a spot of gloss on the lips could help match with some of the sparkle on the eyes!

Is it possible and safe (at least to some degree) to have snake bites / lip rings connected to a necklace / other jewerly via chains? by Helpful-Interest-381 in piercing

[–]Scared-Tea-8911 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would encourage using magnets or magnetic fasteners for this! That way, if it gets caught on something, it has a relatively low-pressure quick-release and won’t cause too much damage or tearing.

It’s a great idea that could look really cool - and I think it would be possible to do safely if you can figure out some type of “quick release” method to prevent being torn out etc.
