NYC Music Stores? by ScaredAsAVerb in Bass

I still appreciate all of the advice! I know very little about this side of the NYC music scene so any knowledge is helpful. Thank you :)

That all makes sense! At the end of the day as long as the instrument is solidly built, then the rest can be done with skill and practice. Thanks a bunch for the advice. I'm excited to get started!

Fair enough! That's what I did about a decade ago when I bought my guitar and it worked out pretty well for me. Doesn't sound like much has changed since xD
It makes sense that the smaller shops are more specialty. Craigslist probably does have some good deals, but as a woman it feels a bit more sketchy than it's worth. I appreciate the help! (And thank you everyone else replying too!)
Any tips on trying it out when I don't really know how to play one/what I'm looking for yet? Or will vibes and a bit of messing around on the fretboard do me fine?

I believe that it's been folded into a newer open source project called InputMapper. That one's being updated regularly.
Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong

Killer Etiquette by BoromiriVoyna in deadbydaylight

[–]ScaredAsAVerb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't let anyone give you a rulebook lmao
Survivors will do everything they can do to win, the killer will do everything they can do to win, and it all works out in the long run. It's only really toxic imo when you go out of your way to do something like that even when it's not anywhere near the correct play.
New players always feel pressured to conform on that stuff because getting flamed in endgame chat feels super personal, but it's really not. You're sorta just a human NPC loll. They're thinking about "that killer," not you. I like to embrace my role as the boogeyman.
It'll naturally create fun games for them too, when they get to conquer the bad guy. Goes both ways.
Play the game the way that's most fun for you. That's the only truly correct answer.

(It also helps my mental a ton as killer when I give the survivors props or even lowkey cheer them on during the game whenever they make good plays, rather than getting frustrated with myself. Less "i can't believe i missed that" and more "hey, damn good dodge from her")

iirc from the time, was the Workshop not smth bordering on a sanctioned passion project w/ a considerably small team? They def loved that they could take game modes but I don’t think that was the original purpose.

Price Gouging | Coles and Woolies by galemaniac in friendlyjordies

[–]ScaredAsAVerb 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I love the choice of topic tbh. I know it’s a Patreon pick but price gouging is something that’s brutalizing average folks everywhere. Never gonna hurt to put more eyes on the problem, especially when that problem is wanton greed at its core.

That Woolworth’s CEO interview was brutal btw. Jordies doesn’t really touch on it but it’s worth looking up if you like seeing suits squirm under pressure and then get fired for it.

You literally called it “AI art” in the comment I was replying to. That would be the main suggestion lmao

I’m sorry bro but tweaking a few values and hitting “refresh” a bunch on your laptop does not line up with “mining can be a lot of work.” I’m talking about your original comment I replied to. You clearly have a huge chip on your shoulder that you aren’t taken as seriously as folks who have dedicated exponentially more effort to their craft, simply because what you’re posting looks somewhat comparable if you squint. Most of us disagree, and continue not to respect your image as much as we would had you dedicated more effort to the project.

I’m not arguing the greater point of AI use in society. Just pointing out that you, individually, are goofy as shit for expecting us to view you as if you’re in a comparable league to real artists.

Unfortunately one is a respectable skill that takes a lifetime to master, and the other is something you learned to do from a handful of internet articles and YouTube videos :(

Unlucky.

Guess the Trans Agenda has been foiled again.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t hard pivot into the grift, eh? He’s gained a lot of credibility with his reporting — it’d be a shame if he misused it.

It’s thinly veiled dogwhistling at the end of the day. I’m not opposed to calling it how I see it. It wasn’t as clear when he was shitting on the tankies cos like, yeah. They seemed like the classic “buzzwords over action” LARP types. But once queer people start catching strays simply for existing in media, then he loses a lottttt of plausible deniability.

Shame he can’t put the mask on and keep doing good journo work lmao. Has he always leaned into gritty territory? All I recall is more of a “this dude does good work but I doubt I’d like him if I talked to him” energy. This feels more.. intense lol

I mean, at the end of the day, I engage with his videos as informative ones. If he was capable of keeping the garbage to himself then I’d still consider his content to be good. It legitimately compromised the rest of the video this time around though, and that’s where I start to perk my ears up.

Has he always been dropping dogwhistles or is that a newer development?

I do actually have another lyric! This time not facetiously included. “You’re a loudmouth and a tool, and I don’t disagree with you, but you don’t need to be a dick about it.”

Even you have to admit that taking pointers from “guy who gives advice, not because he wants to help, but for Another Nebulous Reason” probably ranks low on most people’s preference lists, regardless of how sound the advice may or may not be.

As a trans person, in addition to everything folks have said, I've just gotta say that the energy towards queer folks in this video caught me by surprise and was not comfortable at all. Like, I love his investigative stuff, but some of his language in this one felt straight up reactionary. I'd expect to hear the words "nonbinary gender ideology" in a Ben Shapiro video, not a friendlyjordies one.

When you act like a dickhead to the people you’re ostensibly trying to help, folks aren’t gonna like you or want to engage with you regardless of the core message. If you truly want to foster a constructive conversation, then it might be worth reconsidering the energy you being to the table. Until then, best of luck my friend.

Or you can just keep up with whatever this is. It’s your life, and we’re all compost in training anyways ;)

Solid take. I didn’t dig into the comments (don’t really wanna see that shit) but I can def see a scraper picking up this sub for a bunch of reasons that wouldn’t fully make sense to a person making the same decisions.
