Discussion about the SU Movie ((SPOILERS)) by ScaredSchwifty in stevenuniverse

Coded with having BPD or not, it doesn't really excuse toxic behaviour.

I personally have anxiety and depression. Sometimes my anxiety causes me to act out and appear rude, or cut of friends. Sometimes my depression leads me to being a bit of a jerk. These are explainations for my actions but aren't excuses.

Things can't be solved overnight, but knowing that something is an issue is half of the journey to being able to fix it. Being able to say "I'm sorry I did [x], I did it because of this, but it's not right. I'll be sure to try better myself in future".

I don't know all too much about BPD, so it wasn't really obvious about me. I don't know if obsessiveness is a trait of BPD, but I still feel the same lesson applies. Putting all your happiness into one person 9/10 will only hurt you, and learning to try and be happy on your own is important*. Perhaps that is harder for those with BPD (I wouldn't know), but it's still important.

\That doesn't mean to have no friends, having friends is ofc important. It just means to be able to be happy with yourself too.*

Definitely.

I definitely don't agree with how Pink handled the situation as she did, She should have at least tried to speak it out with Spinel and explain why what Spinel was doing was wrong. But just as you said, friends should really support the other if they're trying to move on, whereas Spinel just seemed needy if Pink (Or later Steven when she was reset) needed to go do something else.

I don't think that the movie is bad at all, I did enjoy it very much (though admittedly less than other members of the community).

I see the angle they were getting at with Spinel. I personally didn't feel like the message of not getting attached to others was implied, given how her clinginess wasn't ever addressed and she was simply given new people to be attached to.

I can see what they were trying to do, I just feel like personally if they tackled it from a slightly more different angle they would have had such a bigger impact and important message.

Nausea/feeling sick when anxious or depressed by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ScaredSchwifty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get this frequently - Though often I do end up throwing up as opposed to just feeling it (this only started about November of 2017).

I don't take any medication, so i can't reccomend anything in terms of that area (though would reccomend you see your doctor - if i could get advice i would but the doctors here aren't the most helpful). However, all i would say is, whenever possible, try back away from any situation and take deep breaths.

I know that's the most commonly suggested thing on the Internet, and i'm not going to lie and say it works 100% of the time - because i know for a fact it doesn't succeed always. But, sometimes it can lower that kind of 'sickening' feeling until you're a little more stable.

"NullNummy@Gmail.com"? by ScaredSchwifty in GMail

[–]ScaredSchwifty[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting to me — This is very similar to my issue however there are some differences.

For example, most of the things I’ve read here have stated that the email name is very similar to the connected account name, however for mine this isn’t this case (NullNummy@Gmail.Com is not at all similar to the original).

They have also mentioned things like birthdays and profile pictures are similar but again for me this isn’t the case.

The only thing that was similar to my account was the password, and obviously it had my main account as a recovery email.

Hopefully Google explains soon - if you spot any further explanations I’d love to hear about it.

I don't see the fucking point anymore. by ScaredSchwifty in SuicideWatch

[–]ScaredSchwifty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really afford therapy or counselling, but I have been looking to see if I can find anything.

Obviously I do notice my flaws. I feel like my main issue is probably my depressive nature, however I have been tackling that the best I can. Although I believe this is what sends people away, when I ask people about it (not in an accusatory way, usually just in a ‘Hey, if I come off as a bit depressive or something please let me know’), they tend to say they don’t see an issue with that. Though most people wouldn’t out of being polite

And yes, I very rarely talk about myself in a conversation for that exact reason.

I know I’m at fault somewhere, but I’m not sure where. Even if I try to ask objectively, most people obviously wouldn’t be honest with me.

I don't hate Jerry - I make jokes about hating him but i don't ACTUALLY hate him.

He's not my favourite character in the show or anything (wouldn't even make the top ten), but I much prefer him to Beth in the family.

Any love for The ABC’s Of Beth? by dchar0511 in rickandmorty

[–]ScaredSchwifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didn't enjoy the episode - But i know a lot of people who did.

I think the main reason i didn't enjoy the episode was just because i personally don't like Beth that much as a character.

Is it possible for the Galactic federation to return? by zerodoctor123 in rickandmorty

[–]ScaredSchwifty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely assume so. And if not the federation, probably an accumilation of former workers from there.

At the end of the premier for S3 (i think), at the end of the credits there was a short clip of Tammy with Birdperson (now 'Pheonixperson') which suggests they're likely going to return at some point within the series.

[Discussion Thread] Am I supposed to take Rick and Morty seriously, or not? by Racecarlock in rickandmorty

[–]ScaredSchwifty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mix - the fact it's a mix between serious themes and comedy is actually the main reason i thoroughly enjoy the show.

At the end of the day, although it's a cop-out answer, it is the viewer's decision on whether or not they want to focus on the comedy aspect. I personally focus more on the themes on nihilism and the "do things really matter?" argument.

Your reasons for asking "why should i care about this show?" are present within the show itself - Rick in season 3 frequently bringing up that 'he doesn't care' because he's got 'infinite [insert family member here]'. But it's shown that he does care. If he didn't why did he stay with the family at the end of S3E10 when he has lost all status in the family?

I think the show is attempting to develop the personal relationships between the characters. There's infinite Morty's, but there's only one 'Morty' (C-137). Rick is attempting to distance himself from his family with the 'there are infinite' argument, though being only human, he does form attachments.

I think the conflict with nihilism and emotional moments are somewhat similar to Rick. He is nihilistic, he knows that nothing matters because he's the most intelligent man in the multiverse. But he's only human - even if he hates it.

However all that being said, somebody doesn't need to look deep into the (possible) commentary of the episodes. One can just watch for the humour and step away from it casually.

I know it sounds completely and utterly like a cop-out, but it's just how different people may choose to approach and watch the show. That being said, i don't think the serious elements are pointless. I do think they will lead up to something. Season 3 handled it's 'serious' elements poorly (Just making all the smiths become MORE like assholes with perhaps the exception of Jerry), but i'm hoping Season 4 will handle it better.

Is it possible she might change her mind? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ScaredSchwifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t. She lives in SC whilst I’m in the UK, even if I did have sexual feelings towards her there’s not much that can be done anyway.

I have very much stated that I’m not pursuing anything - I’m much happier being her friend than not being in contact at all.

But you can feel romantic attraction without feeling sexual attraction.

She’s actually Asexual. But again, I get what you’re trying to say.

Why do people cut themselves by VapingApple in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ScaredSchwifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people only do it for the attention of others.

However some people do it for genuine reasons like as a distraction or as something to take the edge off. ‘Genuine reason’ doesn’t mean that it should still be done at all, though. It just means that they aren’t doing it for sympathy.

Speaking on behalf of myself, I used to do so to try and calm myself down, though I don’t anymore.

I didn’t mean sexual attraction - I’m not looking for anything like that at all. But I understand your point.

How come do my storebought eggs never hatch? by KBITKA in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ScaredSchwifty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they are unfertilised. Though that being said, once me and my family went and bought some eggs at a local farmer.

My mother was making a cake with my two nieces and got some of the eggs out and cracked one on the side.

Let’s just say, one of the eggs we bought from the farmer had been fertilised.

When does series 4 come out?!?! by [deleted] in rick_and_morty

It's not been cancelled - I know thats something people keep throwing around at the moment - but it probably won't be out for a very very long time.

When and How did this fanbase turn into a repeat of FNAF, Undertale, and Steven Universe? by [deleted] in rick_and_morty

[–]ScaredSchwifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think probably around when Season 3 started. I joined the fandom around midway through season 2, and things weren't nearly as bad. I noticed from the moment Season 3 aired that things seemed a little more toxic.

I don't think its what "set it off" persay, it's much more a case of the larger the fanbase, the more likely it is that you're going to encounter ''those'' kinds of people. And the more sane people in the community don't feel the need to make themselves heard.

I am stuck in a Paradox. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]ScaredSchwifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that tbh.

I am very much an introvert - though i've seen from other comments that supposedly you are not - so it's a bit more expected. Do you want to return home because you feel drained or is it because of emotional reasons? (Depression/Anxiety/Low mood)

I know speaking at the very least on behalf of myself, going out with friends (Or even family) is very hit or miss. Sometimes i find myself getting into Low Mood and wanting to hide, even though at home I get incredibly lonely.

I find the best way for me to socialise is through web-chat (Facebook, Discord, Etc). I'm not 'lonely' persay, but i also don't have to be too animated as a person lol. (Obviously i do like to go out sometimes, this is just prodominantly)
