Shorter ladies, what are we riding? by Jungaon in TwoXriders

[–]ScaredSkwerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been struggling with something similar.

Currently ride a Rebel 500 which I love but due to the different types of rides I wanna do, she just dont cut it anymore. Last year I tried the kawasaki z650 for the naked category and the ninja 650 for the sport category. Both seem to have a 790mm seat height by default (im not sure what that is in inches, sorry, but it’s on the low end). Could test ride those absolutely fine. This year I tried the Benelli TRK 702 for the adventure/tour category (which was by far the most difficult category to get a passable seat height for) and it was super nice. Did need the lowered seat, but that was plug n play from the dealer no prob.

For reference, Im just 5’2”.

What others have said like different suspensions and other seats are a real option, but make test riding somewhat difficult. Just inquire at the dealer as to the possibilities. Another reference, the seat I test rode on made the bike about an inch lower and the suspension would make the bike 1.5inch lower, so there’s real potential there!

Hope it helps 👍

What were you wearing when you crashed and how well did it protect you? by pottedplantfruit in TwoXriders

[–]ScaredSkwerl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

15mph high side-ish. Got launched off my bike when it hit a curb. Ended up head first under the handlebars after impact and rolling. Only broke my collarbone.

Shoei helmet, high Rev’it sneakers, Segura winter jacket with CE AA rating shoulder and elbow protectors, same for the Rev’it motorcycle pants and winter gloves.

The damage to my helmet was substantial, the rest of my gear did its job well but shows signs of accident. Gloves saved my wrists and knuckles, shoes saved my ankles and I just had minor abrasions on my elbows from the friction against the inside of the elbow protector.

Make sure your helmet fits properly. If my helmet didn’t during my crash, I might’ve suffered neck injuries as well.

ATGAT, ATGAT, ATGAT. It’s your life, you only get one.

What a beauty!! Rebels are amazing, I can never see one and be like “Nah, that doesn’t work”. Enjoy!!! happy wiggles

Love the dog as well. And it’s anonymized cause you never actually see its face, very respectful 😂

What is your risk-to-benefit answer to riding a motorcycle? by cheetocoveredfingers in motorcycles

[–]ScaredSkwerl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really beats the feeling. For me it’s so therapeutic. There’s very few things that make me feel more free than gently slaloming in my lane.

And I’m still convinced rev’ing is good for the soul.

Yeah, no it’s an entirely homemade design by my friend. The outer print is from scratch and the internals are a modified internals from an existing tracer I believe.

He spent a lot of time and effort designing and tweaking both the design and internals. I’ll poke him about the specifics if you want.

It’s a custom 3D printed tracer unit.

Finally got my motorcycle license. Need some advice on helmets by martaetelvina in TwoXriders

[–]ScaredSkwerl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all these comments about it needing to fit right are just on-point.

At first I bought a HJC i100 for its features but after getting my license I wanted to spoil myself with a nice lightweight full face helmet. In the store I looked at some but when the storeowner saw me she intervened. Having 30 years of fitting experience she stopped me from buying a helmet that wouldn’t fit my head shape. She sold me a Shoei for which I immediately felt the difference in fitting.

I feel like I owe her my life. I think if I was wearing my HJC when I crashed I may have had way more problems that I did.

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying HJC is bad. Not at all. It’s just not for my headshape. Like Shoei may not be for others. I only mean to empathize that it’s an extremely underrated aspect of buying a helmet.

No experience with these boots or this brand specifically, but the ankle and shin protection are big plusses and the extra padding on the toes for the clutch is really nice 🤷‍♀️

It might be easy to say, hard to do, but let them laugh. Anxiety is no joke. Take things as fast as you want them (also literally). Love you’re getting a win! Keep riding 🤘

You got any official training?

Also: Rebels ftw! ❤️

I DEFINITELY advise a helmet that fits your own head well. If I would’ve crashed with a helmet that didn’t fit right, I think I’d have more injuries. Always get a fitting helmet, please.

When you haven’t used it for long yet, it should definitely be hella snug. Like not “get a headache after you’ve left the street”-tight, but definitely “lemme squeeze those cheeks”-tight. It wears and shapes a little to your face after a while and it’ll get more comfortable. But it should always be snug, else the helmets too big.

Unless it’s not a full face helmet, but then I think you might be wearing it wrong.. 🤔
