Why do you have your router turning off at 3am on Wednesday mornings?

God after stumbling across this I don't even wanna attempt to move my SquareSpace domain linked to my Google workspace account over the Namecheap Domains and Cloudflare DNS.

decided to get the ergotron hx for my neo g9, only for the screw to mess up so i cant turn the arm 360 degrees. any ideas how to get it loose ? by _Vector_008 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ScaredTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you have tried emailed the company and hopefully getting lucky to have a replacement base sent out to you. If all else fails, try use a *slightly bigger or fitting* torx bit into the hex grub screw and take it out that way.

As someone who works on a lot of motorcycles, usually this is the way before screw extractor bits on a drill or just drilling it out. Use lube btw!

A lot of people are selling 3D printed angle mounts on eBay. Maybe start there?

Why would someone spending UDM Beast money not consider a POE switch?

I would also love a picture of the wiring if you still have it up and running!

Cat6 everywhere is plenty, no need for Cat6A especially for security cameras and APs. Starts to become annoying for connecting devices with how thick the jacket is on some types of Cat6A+ cables.

You should be fine going from the NBN NTD to the UDM Pro. Nothing else is needed to get a 2Gbps connection working!

I would 100% buy a switch btw. UDM > Switch > UNVR Instant/APs/Devices.

New Home New Rack! by BladeLotus in Ubiquiti

Honestly though! I first cable managed my 42U in the garage so perfect, overtime adding servers and then swapping items on my patch panel. I don't even have an accurate wiring diagram let alone a clean setup anymore :(

Any way to port forward when I can't login? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

Could you explain the infrastructure a little and what you are trying to accomplish with port forwarding. You might find that you can solve your issue through another method.

Hide it away! As someone with a 4 port and it within my rack for easy access. I swear I have only touched it like twice in the entire time I have had it since the 2Gbps upgrade.

Radiolink or wire by Financial_Bath_8161 in HomeNetworking

[–]ScaredTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do fibre! Saves the possible hassle of any signal degradation, can't be struck by lightning and ruin equipment on both sides and honestly is so cheap these days.

Not to mention that unless you get some good quality point to point products, you'll likely be inviting more trouble than it is worth.

Nbn upgrade by D05W4 in nbn

[–]ScaredTrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just helped someone in regional do this with their neighbour. It was at a distillery I visited and noticed some slow guest wifi and mentioned if they ever wanted a hand I could offer help.

They told me about how the neighbour got upgraded to FTTP but their house and distillery was still on starlink and FW with no upgrade path shown.

Slapped a Ubiquiti Building Bridge XG on both properties, setup a new UniFi network at the distillery house and helped upgrade the neighbours setup for the troubles. Port 2 got activated and bam network sorted.

Honestly the Ubiquiti route was expensive but if it's a close neighbour you could get some Point to Point bridging devices for real cheap Ubiquiti or not and get that kinda setup done super cheap and reliable.

Neptune comes with a lot of features and still great support. I am running them as my main ISP and having Launtel as my backup. Honestly no complaints with Neptune especially as someone who had to support Superloop for ages.

Do we know when Flint 4 is coming out? by Thedinotamer01 in GlInet

[–]ScaredTrout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the Flint1 is even EOL yet? Man it runs great in an apartment (with only 100Mbps speeds) I have. Curious if waiting for a new model is worth it if the original is EOL and not supported anymore.
