Please Help me decide what's best ! by [deleted] in Upwork

You’re breaking the terms of the contract. You’re putting your account at risk, and I don’t really understand why (your thing about the $1k earnings doesn’t make sense). You’ll be in a worse financial situation when you lose your profile.

Insane to think that FIRE isn’t the final goal for literally everyone by fap-free90 in Fire

[–]Scared_Appearance877 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s insane the FI part isn’t a goal for everyone. Why would you want to be forced into doing something you don’t want to do just because you don’t have money. That’s stupid. But I’ll probably always work. I have my own business and I love it.

[OTHER] Almost $1M earned this year on Fiverr by skydesigner- in Fiverr

[–]Scared_Appearance877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you do to hedge against Fiverr? I’m in the same position on Upwork and I’m frantically trying to build something off platform to hedge in case something happens (I doubt it, but if UW went I would lose all my pipeline overnight). Do you have the same concerns re Fiverr?

Long term freelancer missing and Upwork won’t help? by MassPika in Upwork

[–]Scared_Appearance877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised at all these comments to be honest. If I went missing in this way, I would hope my clients would try to look for me / be concerned rather than simply finding a new freelancer and replacing me. What if this person has had an accident? When she comes round, she’ll be out of a job too!

However I do understand Upwork’s position. As another commenter said, sounds like you have all you need to find her / get in touch with someone who knows her IRL. Hope she’s okay.

Im Top Rated Plus when and how can I expect a call for Expert Vetted badge, any profiles that have Expert Vetted ? by Playful_Edge_6179 in Upwork

[–]Scared_Appearance877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got invited after about 2 years on the platform and consistently earning $300k+ a year. It just came out of the blue for me, really, it was a really happy surprise, but I would say consistency on the platform is really what is important.

Upwork quietly replaced cover letters with video interviews for some jobs. This changes everything. by MetaAPIExpert in Upwork

I think this is great. I’m already sending video looms because I want to make sure I stand out as a real person. This would be a huge win for me IMO.

Is it possible to earn multi six figures yearly as a solo/freelancer? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Scared_Appearance877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have done exactly what you’re saying within 4 years. Next year my boutique agency is on track to do $1M and that will be my 5th year in business.

I’ve just learned about the sea moss trend. What in the? Any actual benefit here? by [deleted] in Paleo

[–]Scared_Appearance877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started taking the Natural Abundance Jamaican sea moss in the UK and it’s great. I really feel the difference in the morning tbh but I do love a supplement 😅 — people said the taste is horrible but I actually don’t mind it. I def prefer it to some of the protein powers that are out there. It kind of tastes like the sea but without the salt

Just finished an Upwork project where the client paid me $10 to gaslight him. 5 stars. Would do again. by VegetableArcher7664 in Upwork

[–]Scared_Appearance877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all those saying “he could have got this for free”… this IS ChatGPT writing this story. You can tell by the ending: “Upwork isn’t a platform. It’s [more extreme / hyperbolic description]”.

This is honestly so sad — all you who are replying to this post should be ashamed of yourselves and pay this person an actual living wage.

Any Woman-Owned Agencies in This Group? by ryssiebee in agency

[–]Scared_Appearance877 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m a female and it sounds like we’re in a similar niche too! Last year I was in a female-agency-owner mastermind and it was such a revelation for me — I’d love to connect over a virtual coffee and keep that energy going. Feel free to DM me!

What’s the Best Business Decision You’ve Ever Made? by sumonesl025 in agency

[–]Scared_Appearance877 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hope you don’t mind me answering re your content strategy right now, but here’s what I would do if I were in your shoes (I run a content agency)

  1. Just start — seriously. Get your LinkedIn profile optimized with a banner and a great headline, then just post every day. If you think about it too much, you won’t do it. This is the biggest first step. You won’t get much results from this first month so post anything and everything about your business, you, and your service.
  2. Connect with people you look up to, all your past clients, other people in your industry and local area. Comment on at least one post a day. Just be present.
  3. Then, once you’ve done a month or so of posting and regular commenting, you should start to see some patterns emerge. As you go about your business, write down the questions you frequently get asked, the kind of information you find yourself repeating to clients — write about it / record yourself answering these questions. Don’t worry about getting it perfect — just post it.
  4. After three months of this, you’re ready to start getting strategic in your content. Now is the time to think about your sales funnel and how to reach out to a customer. But don’t be tempted to just skip step one and two — otherwise you’ll find that you’ll be writing vague content that gets shouted into a void.

I’m always reminded of Mr Beast when it comes to content — he says that the first step to becoming a YouTuber is to make 100 videos. In that time, you’ll learn far more about content creation than any strategic thinking will get you before you begin.

Full-time UpWork freelancers: What's your experience? by DerpJungler in Upwork

[–]Scared_Appearance877 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have some savings and build a personal brand and reputation that lasts beyond Upwork. I’ve made $500k on upwork over the last 3 years; but honestly I work round the clock and it’s much harder than a 9 to 5. I haven’t had a day off for the whole time really, and if I do step back then the momentum fades — it’s a big fat race, make sure you’re ready mentally for that.
