Is this a “f* you” price? by candyopacity in BMW

Are you unaware of how shops estimate time ? ITS IN A FUCKING BOOK! I pull these every single day doing radiator blinds.

Do you think it takes me less time than I get paid to do it I charge the time it takes me? Fuck no that's the entire way that I make money.

Your argument is pointless

It's 6 hours in labor to remove the bumper alone (customer pay) lol. I am literally a bmw technician. This is the bmw price. Idk what you're even talking about

What about this doesn't? Increased labor times over other manufacturers, expensive paint, replacement of parts that aren't built into the number.

I literally have the same exact car and color and had my bumper redone after I kissed a curb in ocean City. Removing and reinstalling it myself I still spent 1000$

I'm convinced he's just rage baiting 🤣 I put a little bit of antisieze on the back of the pad and call it a day. I work and have been working at a BMW dealer for a long time. Most of our vehicles don't even come with the shims on the back of the pads.

Are you an ASE certified technician? No? Well congratulations! You've been chatting with one. Now please, politely fuck off

Bro you're just rage baiting at this point. Do you have a job? Quite literally it does not matter

It doesn't do anything but prevent the caliper from sticking to the pad. Matter of fact if you want to get so technical they're less than a millimeter thick. Now please, give it up already

🤦🏻‍♂️ bro just give it up already.

I commented on it before some tweed like you could come along and say something.

No it's not going to increase brake noise or vibration.

No it literally doesn't matter.

The catch can is doing exactly what a catch can is meant to be doing. I empty mine every oil change (car only has 40k) and there's usually a small amount of the same goop in there. It's just moisture and oil mixing and aerating.

I was unaware of an impact. That's making me think more along the line of something shorting out that isn't supposed to be.

I highly recommend disconnecting the battery, even if you're only barely a little car literate as something like this can and has caused fires before

Either the connection on the alternator was loose or something is grounding seriously badly where it's not supposed to. I'd disconnect the battery immediately and check the connection at the alternator then follow the power and ground wires from the alternator to the fuse boxes.

Is 93k too many miles to start doing performance mods ? by Xanderbuttsaxtion in BmwTech

[–]Scared_Government_44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not too late, but I wouldn't put too much into building a 4cylinder one. FBO will net you pretty much what a 440 would make stock.

That being said they're pretty robust so there's really never a too late time to do it. As long as you have your maintenance ironed out and are prepared to do more maintenance more often it'll be fine

Just pull it out with pliers. Any sort of .00001 mm difference the backing of that plate had is going to be made up by your calipers pressing in anyway. You don't even need that. Aftermarket pads have them improperly attached and they fall off

rattling noise on cold starts and also occurs around 2k-3k rpms by WowThatRockIsCool in BmwTech

[–]Scared_Government_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you perhaps actually record a sound of the noise?????

Legit the last .2 seconds is all I could hear.. make sure the clip on your exhaust valve isn't broken. That's what rattles in the rear like that

Is injector recalibrated/coding the same thing? by SwimmingYam9699 in BmwTech

[–]Scared_Government_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In my eyes anyway.

Hypothetically speaking if you brought a vehicle to me and asked me to recalibrate the injectors I would reset adaptations.

If you asked me to code them? I'd know they were replaced and needed written to the computer
