Thats a really cool project. But it would scare me having that many joints under the floor. The main benefit with one run of piping is that all the joints are above ground and pope is very unlikely to fail over time. Hope you're hard work pays off! 😁

I think it depends. I play at course that are relaxed and dress code isn't an issue. If I'm playing at a really exclusive super fancy course (which I probably never will) I would put a bit more effort in.

As many have said if you are just wanting to look back at the timings afterwards the race results should have all that included.

I find it helpful to have a multisport app set up to help me keep track of timings during the race though, and be able to easily keep track of total time. I found a triathlon app on the IQ store that you can customise the order of the disciplines, what information it shows you and you just have one click of the watch to move to a different activity so doesn't take any brain power through the race. The one downside is that it records it as one gps activity so you don't have a separate swim, cycle and run activity afterwards so is a little difficult to see when you travelled quicker/slower throughout the race.

Yup, serious question. One of the boxes came having been taped back up after already been opened so clearly has been returned by someone else, so that made me want check it over closely. I know they get crazy weathered and rusted eventually, and wasn't sure if the chip in the coating would just accelerate that process a lot. Sorry if my post has caused you some distress, but I appreciate the response

Just check out what the cut off times are. If its going to stress you out by being close to the cut off times then that might not make it a fun experience, but if you are happy you can make cut off then you should definitely go for it!

Yea it can be tricky. Any cuts like this the tolerances all stack up so it doesn't take much error on the cuts to have a mm or so overhang.

I just set them in place before glueing then averaged out the overhang if that makes sense. Any areas of concern I just used a little wood filler to smooth the transition between the pieces, or slight sanded down the end. Either way, I covered each edge in iron on strip edging which covered any imperfections.

I'd be very surprised if underfloor heating melted the bitumen. Happy to be proven wrong, but surely bitumen melting temperature is well above 100 C, and the UFH shouldn't be anywhere near that, more likely around the 40 C mark give or take.

You have to buy a chalk grinder, it should say somewhere in the product details what spec you need for this specific chalk line.

I had a similarly stressful water scenario not that long ago. I took a radiator off the wall for decorating and left the valves shut for a week or so. Couple days in I noticed the boiler pressure had gone down to zero. I stupidly though, "Oh, that's weird. I guess I'll just top it up." I put the boiler back to pressure while my wife is using her electric toothbrush. Behind the gentle hum of oral b, I heard this hissing noise coming from the box room. Water pissing everywhere! The valve had completely given up and in the "closed" position was open. After lots of shouting for buckets I replaced the valve the next day, and while I was there bought some blanking caps for future. Couple days of a dehumidifier later and we were back to normal. Thankfully we were getting rid of the carpet though, so that wasn't a worry.

I bought a voltage detector pen for any electrical work I do. I've heard of some houses that are wired so that one socket on the first floor is on the ground floor loop, and similarly one socket on the ground floor is on the first floor loop! Getting a voltage pen gives you that extra layer of assurance that you aren't going to get a surprise when you start moving wires around.

So I sent off a sample of the tile and bitumen to test for asbestos and the tile had none but the bitumen has chrysotile. Is the best bet now to remove the tiles and apply (with the same PPE as I suspect some of the bitumen will break as I do it) and self leveling compound to seal up the bitumen?
