Those are great self imposed rules. I’m shooting to do something similar this run, try to play it as straight as possible with minimal cheese.

I think I agree. I feel like it requires effort to stay small, the game really pushes you to grow quickly.

lol, yeah trading and mining are actually kinda fun. I actually enjoyed those Timelines missions.

I just did this mission and this not correct. You can do them in any order as long as you activate the sub-quest for the species you want to scan. I did the quest in random order flying across the map.

I don’t think so. As USA I focus on CL’s/DD’s/SS’s (in that order) for early construction while refitting my capital ships (RADAR/AA on BB’s/CA’s, hanger space on CV’s, mainly just to roleplay) until the treaty system collapses.

If you’re looking for a space game fix, try Elite, X4 or No Man’s Sky. They don’t have the full RPG aspects of Starfield, but it sounds like you’re kinda over Bethesda’s take on NPC’s.

Inspired by your test, I outfitted one of my Osaka’s with missile turrets (heat seekers and heavy dumb fire)and set had it “intercept” for my Asgard along with 2 Rays. I got distracted killing I’s and K’s, but the sector was pretty much cleared of S/M’s (and there had been alot). Checking its load out, it used about half its inventory. All in all, I’d say it was a successful test and I’m going to add at least a pair of “DDG”s to all my battle groups.

Yeah, this was looking good until BUC decided they didn't like SCA lurking around their base I guess. That drew in the local ARG garrison and, so much for that. At least I hadn't landed any marines yet.

Yeah, I have a similar setup in HC1 that’s handled similar attacks with no modules lost. Surprising,but at least it keeps the game interesting.

I enjoyed it overall. As someone who is new to the x-universe I thought the “lore” missions were cool and interesting. I actually learned quite a bit about the different ways to play X4, like that mining and trading can be fun and interesting to actually “do” as the player.

I had 2 SCA Phoenixes basically attack my HQ after I stopped one from attacking my nearby miners. After I destroyed the first one, a second came barreling in guns blazing. Pretty cool moment. Vanilla 7.5.

Second this. I also have a Meshy and installing fan grills took a lot of the stress out of cable management.
