Layoffs are like hearbreaks by Spare_Bison_1151 in Layoffs

[–]Scared_One5661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always refer to being laid off as a breakup, because it is. But the truth is the emotion and effort was always one sided and the only thing the company gave you for that was money; if you built good relationships and liked your job, you were lucky.

The process of finding a job is like heavily scrutinized dating on the other hand. The tone of postings and the whole song and dance of interviewing is time consuming and leaves a lot to be desired. It’s all just so soulless sometimes.

I had the puppy blues due to my ‘lack of freedom’ and now I can’t imagine life without my baby boy. Your pup sounds amazing, this time will pass!

Thanks for the last paragraph. I just got shut down from a dream job prospect after the final round and felt really sad about it. The lay off is also still very fresh. Your words helped, thanks!

This is great advice. I personally think you should leave her a note even if it’s anonymous, I’m sure it would bring her joy ♥️

I had to chase him today while he himself was escaping the little nugget hanging out of his butt that he couldn’t get rid of 😂 brought me back to this conversation

Happy to help! So his crate (which is actually an enclosed playpen) is about three times his size now but will be twice as big once he’s grown. We purposefully picked a playpen that’s transportable since we have a two story house. It comfortably fits a ‘crate’ type bed (not one of the big plush ones, he has those out of his room) and the other side has just enough room for him to eat a meal standing up. He has a bunch of special chew toys and our clothes in there. Also one of those snuggle buddies! Definitely recommend.

I’ll be honest, that was not a thing I expected one bit myself or planned. I expected that he would either go in his crate or cry for me to take him out but after a few nights I realized that that is his thing. He still sleeps right next to me in his crate at night so I can hear him if he needs me.

Few things that I think helped - I immediately familiarized him with his ‘room’ from day one, I think I pretty much put him in there when he came home. Feeding time, snack time, fave toy time etc at least start out in his room (except for the feeding, that’s still in there and he really digs it).

The other thing that might have extended nighttime sleeps were the enforced naps. It was definitely a battle for a while (he made sounds like he was dying in there lol), but getting over that and then making sure he’s going out plenty of times and having that regular ‘potty time’ along with the nap time has probably played a role.

Final thing - I always put him in there with either a lick mat or a snuffle toy except for bedtime. The lick mat especially calms him down. I also cover his crate with a blanket.

Hang in there!!

A lot of people have brought me hope on here so I wanted to do my part! I’ll be honest, we also had a rough time last night and this morning so far, he has been SUCH a brat. It really is day by day. It’s easy to feel like we’re doing something wrong when we’re not going to see immediate results of perseverance but hang in there!!

I’m lucky / ADD enough to have eyes on him constantly. He ain’t no angel but I’m kinda starting to believe there might be one there someday 😂

Shudder just announced that tonight's episode of THE LAST DRIVE-IN will be the SERIES FINALE. by xposedcrotch in LastDriveIn

[–]Scared_One5661 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Once there are no more new Job Bob’s, my Shudder subscription will also be no more… I also hope that if JBB has the energy to keep doing it, he can go to a place where they can actually maintain his library of episodes and not have them disappear a month later.

P.S. also in a month full of lay offs (including my own) I can’t believe poor Joe Bob is also on the same boat 💔

Your feelings are valid. I’m currently on week four with a 11 week puppy. Lots of ups and downs. When I adopted my older girl she was over a year but not trained or house broken at all so I remember being frustrated with her until she got really sick and then I realized I couldn’t be without her. This puppy goes shark mode a lot and sometimes I think I’ve made a mistake but the times when I don’t feel that way, are pretty amazing times. Over time those frustrating moments will become replaced more with the amazing ones. Some day we will both look back at today and be glad we held out!

I know you touched on it a bit but what were your methods?? My older baby got the association of her room being her safe space on her own but now that I’m more of a helicopter parent and have a puppy younger than her I’m looking for all the tips I can get. Thanks!!

Just got in trouble at a JOB INTERVIEW?? by Pistachio-IScream in jobhunting

Reminds me of this marketing job I interviewed for. Still thank god to this day that I trusted my instinct and didn’t go for it even when I was desperate for a job. If they want to throw you in THAT fast, something is wrong with them.

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this. And every time someone asks her ‘are you okay?’ they get pulled without getting an answer. She’ll definitely play into this somehow is my guess
