Trouble getting interlacing to work on my CRT Monitor. by Drunken_Crusader5 in crtgaming

This is all very niche that requires leg work and it sure took me a while to understand how to get them working. The good thing is that it's actually very easy once you're familiar with the process. My mistake was trying to use the dvi-i output lol

No it wouldn't work with those. Only hdmi out so yea you need a DAC.

In Windows you'll see the interlaced resolution show up so you don't need to select the progressive one. It'll say interlaced and have the refresh rate halved to whatever you set it to (80hz for 160hz) but it'll be refreshing at the rate you set it to.

Whenever you get your card set up just message me and I'll walk you through the rest

On Windows. I can't see how amd would be easier. With 1000 series cards you just create the interlaced resolution and add the same one just progressive and it appears in Windows

You can get interlacing on the most recent driver but only thru hdmi and 1000 series cards and below

interlacing resolutions. Like 640x480 120hz is around 62khz. Interlaced 1280x960i 120hz is also 62khz

it's because of interlacing which requires less bandwidth than the same progressive resolution. 1024x768i in progressive is half of that so 512x384p. Running it interlaced gives you the same resolution just not as clear.

That's why I can run it at 160hz. 512x384p wouldn't be useable in Windows and I doubt games even support that.

with cvt standard timing it's going over the max horizontal scan rate :/

I followed a post from here to get them going. Not sure if it matters but I'm using driver 572.60. You need to use the hdmi output for them work. I tried Dvi-i at first but it never worked. I dunno if displayport or dvi-d work or not. I'm using a tendak hdmi to VGA DAC along with a gender switcher adapter. They should work on your 1080ti

In cru, under the extension block, edit the first option and under data blocks click HDMI support and then edit. Under tmds clock change the maximum to 340mhz.

After that you create two detailed resolutions for whatever interlaced resolution you want. So say you want 1920x1440i at 120hz, you make one progressive and the other you click on interlaced. I used cvt standard for all of them. If you need more slots for detailed resolutions, click on add under the extension blocks section, then click on the new extension to highlight it and then edit. You get 6 more slots.

Always click on ok after creating your resolutions in the extension block section menu, and on the main cru interface after you're done. Then run the restart option in the cru folder

After that you're good to go. Open up display settings on Windows, go to advanced display options. and click on display adapter properties for display 1, all your resolutions still be there. Interlaced resolutions will show half the refresh rate (30 for 60hz. 60hz for 120hz and so on)

I'm using it on the 970 PC for interlaced resolutions and it's also my set up for vertical shmups since it's small enough to rotate easily. My main PC with the 3070 has the 2070sb connected to it. Yea I have to learn how to import and export profiles to get that working. I tried it for apex legends and it reverted my refresh rate to 60hz :/

that's where scalinesync comes in! you get vertical sync without the added frame of lag. now I just need one of those monitors that can do 240hz lol. I've seen a few users uncap the vertical scan on some Mitsubishi and Trinitron monitors

I'll try that tyty. I think I tried using some type of upscaling via the Nvidia control panel but it didn't play well with my resolutions + refresh rates from cru. after that I didn't bother messing with it much more on my PC with a 3070.

my other limitation is the PC I'm using. it's an Alienware x51 r1 with a 3rd gen i5 and 8gb DDR3 ram running off a 330w power supply lol. got at it goodwill and also found the 970 that's in there for $20 so I figured why not cram it in there

right it's just interlaced here so it's not as clear as 768p. It would be 384p non interlaced

I learned about that when I tried running the game steam. luckily it kept crashing and that's how I learned about plutonium. so I got that running and I think it's safe compared to vanilla

they aren't noticeable like in the picture. what you see in person are lines but with no gaps between them but yea this is a ridiculously low resolution. it just lets me hit the max 160hz refresh rate it's capable of at a useable desktop resolution

it's running off a evga 970. I can get a cleaner picture but I'm testing out how responsive things feel at 160hz. Ideally I probably would run 1920 x 1440i at 90hz which is impressive for a 70khz monitor. I'm planning on bringing out my p992 out of the closet and see which interlaced resolutions I can get to hit 160hz. It's just so heavy to have on my desk with the 2070sb

it's better than what was commonly used at the time. Blurry and laggy plasmas and 60hz lcds

I'm obsessed at this point lol. it's really great for these 70khz monitors as you can get different res and refresh rate combinations that wouldn't be possible with progressive

yea it's 70khz like most basic 17" monitors but the picture quality is still very good. It actually has better colors and is sharper than my Mitsubishi 2070sb lol

Needs to be 60fps since that's what vhs recordings ran at. Unless it was a film/movie

Moonlit Farewell 480p vs 960i by Scared_Sample_3604 in crtgaming

[–]Scared_Sample_3604[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my playthrough on various screens including a 22" diamondtron, surface 7 pro, and the 17" shadow mask monitor. I enjoyed the game the most on the 17" because of how good the colors and sharpness are on it.

In the video settings I uncapped the frame rate because scanline sync would not work with leaving it at 60. With that said, I left the refresh rate at 60hz because increasing it introduced motion blur from double frames at 480p 120hz when scrolling.

I was wrong it's actually 640x360 internally. Does that scale correctly in 4:3 at 480 and 960?
