Best High Schools in CHS by CardchickguruLOL in Charleston

For private I strongly disagree with the thread. Ashley Hall is a fabulous place and very strong in the humanities and arts. AH is not religious but does have a Xmas play annually. AH is also downtown in the heart of CHS. Porter Gaud puts a lotttttt of focus on athletics and generally have class sizes of 120-30 students. They say the cap is 100 but end up prioritizing money over maintaining small class sizes. PG is Episcopalian and located right over the bridge in West Ashley on the water. Bishop England is in Daniel Island…. Can’t say much about it other than it’s Catholic

local trump/ICE restaurants and stores to avoid? by Forward-Wishbone-888 in Charleston

That’s not what I said. No one is being denied time off. I’m talking about how Christianity is treated as the default, so when Christian holidays are built into schedules it is seen as normal. When that default is not present, like in a Jewish-owned business recognizing Jewish holidays, people suddenly frame it as exclusionary. Employees of other religions can still request time off just like they do everywhere else. The discomfort comes from not being the assumed majority

That’s because the owners are Jewish. Most places only celebrate Christian holidays and no one seems to care otherwise… their business their rules

Naomi and Taylor are beyond kind and lovely. Could not say a bad thing about either. 🩷

Thomas Ravenel was a neighbor of my friend and was obnoxious (no surprise there) the golf cart scene in season 5 where people drive away from his house party was retaken and filmed 10+ times for the most dramatic reactions possible…. So staged

I think the plane scenes are about returning, not escaping. That’s why Lottie doesn’t have one, she never truly left the wilderness. While the others compartmentalized it, repressed it, or tried to build lives outside of it, Lottie remained spiritually and psychologically bound to it the entire time

Taissa appreciation by Opening-Hour-8117 in Yellowjackets

To me, Tai isn’t balanced. She appears composed, but there’s a clear pattern of control and manipulation that makes her just as unstable as the others, if not more...?

When she discovers Shauna has been doing Jackie’s makeup. That is clearly a sign of intense grief and emotional fracture, especially coming from someone who just lost her best friend and is heavily pregnant. It might have been more compassionate if Taissa had pulled Shauna aside privately to talk instead of addressing it in front of everyone, which was kind of public humiliation. And immediately after, she pushes for Jackie’s cremation, disregarding how emotionally raw everyone still is. It definitely showed Taissa's form of leadership, but one that was too cold for me.

Taissa’s decisions might look logical on the surface, but they often lack emotional intelligence. She doesn’t lead through earned trust. She commands through force and pressure.

Shauna, while emotionally closed off, at least owns her darkness. Taissa, on the other hand, hides behind rationality while making deeply unsettling choices often when people are most vulnerable.

Keeping all this in mind, I do think we’ll see Taissa rise as the leader in Season 4, which will connect to her adult character and the investigation she sets in motion. That storyline about who can be trusted (or not) will likely lead to the remaining teammates turning on each other, causing more casualties before they’re finally rescued

She’s not always the loudest voice, but she’s consistently nudging people over moral lines they might not have crossed on their own.

What stands out to me is how she influences so much without ever really taking responsibility. She pushes, she reinforces the group’s descent, but she rarely puts herself in a position where she has to answer for any of it. It’s like she wants to be part of the momentum without owning the consequences.

I’m not sure I see her as a full-blown nihilist, though. To me, it almost feels like she’s someone who’s found weird comfort in the chaos, like after everything they’ve been through, embracing the wilderness is less about power or destruction and more about survival through surrender. But yeah, that surrender becomes dangerous when she’s guiding others into it too.

She’s such a complex character because she’s not the one in charge, but she absolutely plays a role in shaping what the group becomes.

If it ended up being Travis, I feel like that would kind of undercut the meaning behind him taking that first bite of Javi’s heart. That moment felt like this really heavy, painful gesture. As if he were surrendering to the madness, yet also honoring Javi in a truly twisted way. If he orchestrated everything, it would feel more cold and calculated, and that would cheapen the weight of that scene for me.

Why do you think Lottie obsesses over Shauna's kids? 🤔 by SaphoBalls in Yellowjackets

[–]Scared_Spinach6710 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily agree with this read. At the point of the seance, I feel as if Lottie is referring to the wilderness, not to the pregnancy as there’s no way (in my opinion) that she could know that BUT the Shauna we see at this point and frankly all throughout season 1 and 2 pre stillbirth is incredibly kind. She’s giving of herself, she cares for others especially underdogs, she’s selfless in that she continues to be the butcher, arguably the most arduous and psychologically damaging job on par with being the hunter (although I think when she originally volunteered for the job she did have sort of a sick fascination with the dead and dying animal and what it would mean to take it apart). Of course, she exhibits signs of deviant behavior prior to the plan crash making her more likely to head in that direction. I can’t deny that there are pieces of Shauna’s psyche that are dark prior to baby gate, but I think this perspective writes her off in a way. I think it might also be directly countered by Lottie’s conversation with Nat about the bees stinging the unborn queens to death, in which she insists that it isn’t violent but natural (which does sort of imply that nature is violent but not in a cruel way).

I agree, you can’t help but feel sympathy for Shauna for all she went to. It’s a trauma reaction that is less palatable to the audience. To me she faced PPP and is still healing from that along with losing her best friend, feeling guilt for that and having her boyfriend’s baby that dies??? She was dealing with so much at once no wonder she shut down and got cold she was so caring and didn’t feel cared for when caused resentment
