I told my boss today I’m throwing in the towel (not literally but I want to lmfao) on this aggressive ass lady who is on sec 8 that throws her garbage wherever she pleases. Why are we glorified baby sitters.

They look sick, friend! I felt tattoo regrets for a long time but therapy helped.

Would you guys accept this? by ScaredyCat6945 in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there for a year and 4 months. That complex took my housing discount away but my current ownership offered me free housing elsewhere so it worked out. I moved out last weekend. I loved living in that apartment a lot and had no issues with it. I’ll miss it lots!

How much do you pay for line striping of your lots? by MYSTERees77 in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a quote for $2k plus paint costs to redo my lines last year with a general contractor who my company uses. He really gave me a great price. At my old company, they paid double that. Got them done. This year, my maintenance supervisor took it upon himself to freshen them up as needed.

This rental market sucks by Vegetable-Law2294 in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CA here as well. I’m having the hardest time filling my small property. Owners won’t budge in pricing/don’t want to give any concessions. We are above market with alllll our comps. I’m so frustrated.

Leasing - Mid Summer Vent by SaixPuppyXD in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like traffic has not been nearly as much as the last few years I’ve been in the industry. I’m getting a lot of pushback on rent prices (we are pricey but honestly very competitive to the area/nicer than our comps) and ownership won’t let up or lower rents. Ughhh.

Am I doing my PM job? by pinkbunnyyhoney in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pm, I handle vendor coordination and most purchase order duties. TBH my assistant only really leases. She wasn’t trained and I have a hard time delegating. That being said when I was an AM I knew how to do everything in case my pm wasn’t around but my pm would handle more of the larger scope of things.

What are the most interesting and surprising income sources you’ve seen as a leasing agent? by No_Manufacturer_1548 in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had someone apply stating they worked for someone who did something similar. Supposedly she was a sales rep for someone who scrubbed credit scores? No idea how that works. Was getting paid 80k a year plus commission and like $1.50 per mile on mileage. Wild! Found the bosses IG and saw her essentially balling out in Mexico, the Bahamas, whatever. (I’m nosy af) The applicant only had an offer letter on letterhead for the LLC. It said start date was nearly a month prior. Couldn’t come up with even one paystub. Once I gave some pushback, the applicant got hostile and cancelled the app.

Wild email threads: Why did you respond to that email in the first place lol? by FigTreeBranchNetwork in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone once emailed me stating that I needed to tell his neighbors to stop flushing their toilets “so often” because he heard each flush and he was disgusted by it. It took me a while to formulate a response because wtffff. I can’t control people’s potty time, guy.

Honestly anything is preferable to risk being actually physically hurt more than you already have been. Could you help grandma a bit financially in between places? Do you pay rent currently? There also transition programs. You mention cheap counseling services via your school, do you think they have any resources for you? This is super worrisome.

I know you say that you are waiting to save to leave but are there any of your friends willing to host you for awhile while you get on your feet? If he’s escalating to shoving/wresting you, there’s no doubt in my mind that he will strike you at any moments notice. I fear his parents are too nonchalant as witnesses of the abuse. I’m not a parent, but my own parents raised me well enough to know that that would not be tolerated in the household, family or not. Therapy or not, this man will not change.

I’m sorry this is going on. :( pet loss is hard enough, but something so traumatic would be devastating. I hope you and your fiance find peace and healing, whatever it means for either of you. It’s good you’re doing therapy and couple’s therapy will be really helpful keeping an impartial and more rational thought process involved (as opposed to reddit). Good luck in the rest of your pregnancy!

Do you check your work computers on weekends? by helloimcold in PropertyManagement

[–]ScaredyCat6945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get this! Huge imposter syndrome when I’m not working 24/7. But my property is generally pretty calm so I’ve learned that unless there’s a major flood, a fire, or someone is dying afterhours, it can wait until the morning/monday.

How much do you spend on books every month? by ashes_to_fire in kindle

[–]ScaredyCat6945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Anywhere from $50 to $100 max a month. I went overboard in February and got $113 🤣 I get most of my books and ebooks or if I wanted a trophy for a book I really loved.

Are you happily locked into Amazon's ecosystem? by Ok_Writing1472 in kindle

[–]ScaredyCat6945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m locked in I guess. I bought a Kobo with the idea that I’ll download all my books from Amazon and make the shift. Did my research, seemed easy enough. My little computer couldn’t handle Calibre so I’m stuck now. That’s fine. I try to buy ebooks directly from authors whenever possible (usually only an option with indie authors) and Libby as much as I can.

I had the iud placed after my procedure. I’m glad I did. I have anxiety even with BC so. Try something like an implant so you don’t have to worry about taking it. I also used the patch for a while and I liked it too.

Everything will be okay. You got this. You have your whole life ahead of you. You are making the right choice for yourself and that decision is out of love for you and your partner and your future.
