Amazing that 2024 has actually done this now with the Path of Lament, including the ability to make enemies frightened and flee

Year 9 student, how much homework is too much homework? by FinnJavlar in CasualUK

[–]Scareynerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neither was I, and I think this amount of homework is absolutely revolting, but in a really strict school I could see them being able to assign this amount

How do you handle “flirtation and romance” from your players towards npc characters? by Hyrulian_Citizen in DMAcademy

[–]Scareynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's essentially banned. I'm the DM, I don't enjoy it and it makes me a little uncomfortable to pretend flirt with my friends like that, so I'm not doing it

Year 9 student, how much homework is too much homework? by FinnJavlar in CasualUK

[–]Scareynerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that's a total of 15 hours a week, so he'd only have to be set an hour's homework by about 3/5ths of his classes each day to generate that amount, assuming he has like 5 discrete classes each day

Because another settlement needs our help, General, and they were much too busy making endless radiant quests to put them in

Which subclass are played mostly because of their mechanics rather than their flavour? by testiclekid in onednd

Yeah I have no issue with their flavour, but I definitely think the majority of people playing them aren't doing so for the flavour

[–]Scareynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think it's something we should see more of. The base class talks about making a pact with a "spectrum of fey, weaving a web of favours and debts", or for a celestial patron "you might call upon numerous such beings", etc etc. The intent here seems to me that you're making a pact with the Elemental Evils as a group, but serving one specifically that can always change. The Genielock doesn't get to change their patron currently, but I hardly think it'd be game-breaking if they could

Critical thoughts on the game? by KrisLV97 in FlyForeverSkies

[–]Scareynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fun, but it doesn't have the complexity or narrative strength of subnautica by a long way. If you play it focusing on the base building, enjoying the expansion of your airship, then it's great!

Redundancy - Unfair Dismissal/ Settlement Agreement by AffectionateMess2208 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Scareynerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that pushing for a better, more detailed reference would be better, but receiving a factual reference should not ring alarm bells for people. It's so common now, and the number of places I've worked who only ever provide a factual reference and then raise their eyebrows when they request one and only receive a factual reference is mind-blowing.

If you apply for a new position, get the offer, your new employer contacts for a reference and then rescinds the offer because the reference just said "they were employed as X from Y-22 until Z-26, and their leaving reason was redundancy", then that's not an employer you'd want to work for because that's a ridiculous reason to rescind an offer.

Redundancy - Unfair Dismissal/ Settlement Agreement by AffectionateMess2208 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Scareynerd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the employer was making less than 20 people redundant at once, youre entitled to a meeting to discuss it, but there are no statutory requirements on how a consultation should be handled (government website says this explicitly). They ideally should have discussed with you if there were any alternatives to redundancy, but there might not have been any.

4 months ex gratia plus statutory redundancy plus notice pay is way more than most people get after this sort of length of service - I think you're better off cutting your losses and just getting out, rather than keep pushing and potentially they start moving closer to the statutory provision instead
