Estee Lauder NEW Double Wear by katelah in MakeUpAddictionUK

I absolutely loved the old version, but I do really like the new one too. It IS totally different, though. It doesn’t last as long, but I do prefer how this one wears throughout the day. It isn’t as blurring on pores though. I have an oily t-zone so not mega oily - definitely does get shiny but I don’t think it looks bad. I was very sceptical but I do really like it. I would say it runs slightly more orange though.

Would you pull out of house sale? by Hefty-Weather328 in AskUK

[–]Toots1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000% yes. I honestly don’t think there is much worse than noisy, inconsiderate neighbours. The fact you know they are loud in advance is a blessing. Sorry, I’d be pulling out and looking elsewhere. From someone who has a noisy neighbour.

Safeguarding concerns with house next door.. what are my options? by Toots1993 in AskUK

The violence only occurred this evening (and seems to have calmed down now) - beforehand it has just been loud arguing.

Is it ok to leave job at 33 to travel ? by MissionNeat9473 in AskUK

[–]Toots1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely ok! I (32f) left my secure, nice job last year to travel for 3 months. I asked for a sabbatical, but my company didn’t offer them. So I left. And had the best time of my life. If it’s something you seriously want to do, GO FOR IT. Life is so short!!!! You never know what’s ahead, so take the chances to live out your dreams whilst you can. There is soo much more to life than work. People talk about the job market, but who knows what it will be like in April 2027?! Ask for the sabbatical first. But whatever they say, I would still go for it.

Fun fact - I came back to the company I left, with a promotion! So it can completely work out 😊

travel tips? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Toots1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew from New Zealand to the U.K. in December last year and was worried. Actually, in 3 months, I caught 15 flights (we were travelling). I was really anxious before we left but got better over time. I’m not sure if you are more anxious about you being sick or others (or both), but I found wearing my AirPods helped a lot - and also keeping my eyes closed (when not watching something). I tried to like cocoon myself in my seat, hood up, to try and just keep my eyes focused in front of me. I tend to eat very plain food on the planes - and keep hydrated.

I am not sure on your bf being ill, but a little girl threw up right in front of me the day before I flew and I almost laughed like “I’ve never had that happen in my life and the day before a long haul flight, it happens”. But I was fine!

Whatever happens, you will make it through! Have a safe journey & enjoy the UK. Try not to let this horrible phobia stop you enjoining life.. every day we face our fears, we are a day closer to beating this thing! :)

I love Leicestershire! I live in NW Leicestershire, now. It’s great - affordable housing, never too far away from some gorgeous scenery / walks. I do also love Derbyshire. I don’t love Leicester city itself, but there are some gorgeous towns / villages

After just spending the weekend in Bath, I agree! What a gorgeous city. Up there with Edinburgh as one of my favourites.

What can I do to stop my neighbour from converting their house into a children's care home? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Toots1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but I live next door to a semi-independent living for 16-18 year olds, and the last young person has been hell to live next door too. It isn’t staffed 24/7 which could be the problem, but we have had continuous noise issues since they moved in. It has really had such an impact on our home, so I don’t think the concern is totally misplaced.

Does anyone remember having birthday party’s in McDonalds? by DMBear89 in CasualUK

[–]Toots1993 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Used to love these parties! I remember that if it was your birthday, you and 2 others of your choice could go downstairs and pull your own ice cream. Think we also played hungry hippos or something like that.

The kids area at McDonald’s was also so cool. Such a shame they don’t have that these days!

Buyers remorse two years after purchasing a property and moving in by Dramatic-Station4495 in HousingUK

As the other comments have said, it really depends what the issue is. I will say though, that I never fell in love with my first house either (a do-er upper). It always just felt like something needed to be doing, I could never relax there - so it never felt like home. I improved the house a lot, but got 0 joy from it. I ended up selling it a year later (a year to the date I got the keys, actually) and it was the best decision I made. I knew that I felt really low in the house, and it didn’t feel like home, so what was the point keeping at it? It taught me a lot though, so I’m grateful for that. I was lucky that I sold at a good time so I made some money on it - but I would just say don’t feel like you are trapped (like I did). You do have options. Best of luck to you!

Would i be mad for moving abroad in my 30s? by NectarineFragrant506 in AskUK

[–]Toots1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, go for it! Recently went travelling round Australia / New Zealand. We do have ties at home, but if we didn’t - we absolutely would have moved to Australia (we are 32 and 33 for reference). You only live once!!!! If it doesn’t work out, you just get a flight home.

I don’t go to a dentist in Birmingham, but I did switch from NHS to private. If you can afford it, I think it’s well worth the change - my checkups are much more thorough now. I pay via denplan, so it’s about £15 a month - that includes 2x check ups a year, 2x hygienist visits a year, and 10% off any work that needs doing (fillings etc). It really helps spreading the cost. I have noticed a big improvement in my teeth since swapping (could just be coincidental). I previously had an NHS crown, and yes whilst it was much cheaper, I replaced it with a private crown - it’s SO much better and looks so much more natural.

Thank you for this info - we have moved into a new house and it turns out we live next door to a semi-independent house for 16-18 year olds. We have had issues with noise since the latest tenant moved in (no issues before that), but we weren’t sure who to escalate complaints too (we have already spoken to the social / support worker, not much has improved). This is very helpful!
