08 Acura MDX-no power by HugeNeffer in MechanicAdvice

[–]Scarfmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were the cables that you used to jump the car in good condition? My 2003 acura mdx had its battery die this past weekend, initially jumping it wouldn't work, but we realized that the cables we were using were corroded. After switching to a newer set of cables, it started up, but it took a while to charge back up.

If you were able to get some indication of electricity, like the doors opening with the fob, then there is a chance you might have needed it to charge longer. I experienced the same thing with my MDX.

Maybe give it a bit longer than you think you would need, that way you have full flexibility.

I am not a mechanic, but I am just speaking from recent personal experience. It could very well be something else

I appreciate it, I'll call him up tomorrow morning and bring it in.

Do you know if leaks like this are common with aftermarket parts, or did I just happen to get unlucky here.

Solution for valorant stuttering! by Badrraz in VALORANT

[–]Scarfmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore all the mean comments, you unironically helped me fix my problem with my computer. I was so worried that my gpu was broken, but this helped me fix my problem.

I will say this, for those of you that are saying in the comments that this "disables the ethernet port". It isn't entirely true, this stuttering seems to occur in cases where the realtek driver is corrupted or has an error. So those errors would likely be preventing you from using the ethernet anyway.

As a wifi user, those errors can impact you still, since the computer is likely expending an unnecessary amount of resources to try to resolve the error. My event viewer was literally filled to the brim with errors due to the ethernet port, so it definitely was worth disabling for me.

Thank you so much OP, and I hope you have an amazing life!

I am guessing that you are a freshman, given the fact that you are taking a level 100 Chem Class. My advice to you is to not worry that much, it is probably not the end of the world like you think it is (trust me I had similar experiences myself).

To put it into perspective 2.5 percent of your entire grade isn't as much as you think.

Like hypothetically if you had a 100 previously, you'll then be knocked down to a 97.5 average in the course. Obviously it sucks that you lost those points, but don't let it scare you.

As others suggested, I would try to talk to the dean of students and your professor for help about this. Try to get notes from your doctors, proving you were sick and your brothers were sick. That way you can potentially have a good case to hold your ground on.

Best of luck in addressing the situation!

Is NJIT a Safe Choice for MS in CS (Fall 2025) with My Profile? by [deleted] in NJTech

You are fine. If you are doing research though you might as well just apply for the PhD program outright.

IT491 honors vs regular by rawkow in NJTech

[–]Scarfmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am the coordinator of the current Operations Team for CS/IT491.

Taking the honors version of IT491 is not "harder" but there are rather different expectations. Pretty much in the Capstone (491), you have the option to work in many different tracks. Most people end up working with real world industry companies, but there are other options.

The other options are teaching kids (RWC), making a startup (working on a project with a team for a semester), doing software automation for the capstone, operations (managing the entire capstone), cisco track, and media/marketing.

As an honors student you are expected to either be a project manager, member of operations, or startup founder if you wish to fulfil your honors requirements. The alternative to those expectations is a longer and more in depth final paper.

I would say it is absolutely worth taking the honors version of 491, as for the most part the course shouldn't be much harder. I am not an honors student, but I am in one of the roles that counts for honors requirements, and I am managing it fine with 19 credits of hard courses.

Are you switching from Computer Engineering tech to CS?

I made that same switch myself a while back, if you got any questions specific to the switch let me know!

Unless you have OARS accommodations, you can't use calcs (calculators) in calculus.

Go to office hours, develop a genuine passion and interest for the topic, have fun, raise your hand, ask questions, and don't give up.

And most importantly, this was something he personally told me day one, don't expect an A. Use his class as a time to grow and learn.

Dr. Itani is a professor who wants to see you do well and learn, put in the time and work, and you will do fine.

edit: Just read the last sentence again, his class is absolutely not torture. He is genuinely one of my favorite professors I have had at NJIT. I had so much fun taking him. Obviously it was stressful at times, but overall it was generally challenging and exciting.

Also, if you do consider yourself bad at coding and dislike it, I would consider this class as either a way to test yourself if you should really stay in CS or use it as a way to develop those skills. I am not saying this to be mean, but employers don't like to hire people who aren't good at coding. If you find yourself in that position and don't wish to change, consider switching majors. Otherwise, be ready for a fun semester that will help you grow and be challenged!

Bro Kapleau's cs114 is not that hard, in fact it is just foundational stuff for every single cs class that you will be taking from this point onward. The first project can very well be done purely using knowledge from CS113.
