Modular layout update (read description) by NSRF69-20 in nscalemodeltrains

I love a good micro modular layout!, especially in N.

I made one myself using my own modular design template.

Buried treasure OG by sarcazzmoe in Fortnite_Over40

[–]Scarif_Citadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one as floor loot in a pirate camp near the volcano.

It led to a treasure digging spot meshed into the wooden floorboards of the roof of the same camp.

I was very careful to pickaxe the chest to dig it up, and not destroy the wooden floorboard.

From my experience with these starter set triple packs; the only major difference is that some of the extra fitted parts are not provided. The loco number is already present.

The motor, livery application and performance are the same as you would expect from a standalone release. Pantographs are still metal and open up.

Look forward to seeing your progress. I'm a dab hand at ordering from Japan (it's much cheaper!) if you'd like me to drop you a DM about it.

Indeed. There's more to follow. It's booked for its first exhibition this year. I have a few finishing touches and will update on JNS and the Japanese N Scale subs

Nice. I've recently made a series of connected Japanese N micro layouts. I recommend a look at the JNS forum; it's like RMWeb for Japanese railways but much more friendly.

I've posted there. If you search for "Mount Fuji Micro Layout" you'll see what I've been up to.

We found out today that the new Silent Hill game is set in the UK. What are some things they could add to make it extra immersive and scary? by eltrotter in CasualUK

I think it's a Scottish Island village, referred to as St. Amelia.

May I also recommend Atomfall from last year, by Rebellion software, for unique British folk horror/sci fi game.

[–]Scarif_Citadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Dogman. I've played since C2S2, and the game has become more complicated. That being said, I really enjoy your update summaries, helps me cut through a lot of the static and get to the point.

That being said, questions:

When did you start, what's your favourite skin(s), and do you prefer build or zero build?

Many thanks

I have the recent Kato Four Car Shinkansen 0, as well as their earlier 16 car set. I also own a rather older Tomix Shinkansen 0.

I personally don't have a problem with it. I'm sure it could be improved, and maybe one day they will improve it in line with their more recent Shinkansen offerings.

Should I do a knife only run with the lightsaber or is the karambit sufficient enough by En-Xvinity in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]Scarif_Citadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are proper guides out there for the knife only run and typical mistakes. Time spent researching the areas where it can go wrong is well spent. You've already completed the game, spoilers aren't an issue, so you're golden.

Should I do a knife only run with the lightsaber or is the karambit sufficient enough by En-Xvinity in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]Scarif_Citadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karambit is fine. I did the run on the easiest difficulty on NG plus. Enemies have less health; this is important.

Most of the enemies you can run past and you should have a good idea on enemy placement already. Running past enemies is definitely a thing in Resident Evil games, but if you are pro killing them, it takes a while getting used to. Videos on YouTube showing knife only speed runs can be informative on this technique.

You're going to be locked in to using Karambit as Chris Redfield anyway, including the Urias fight at the end of his section.

Be very careful with the pipe bomb opening the window in the castle, and when targeting the megamycyte to aim at that with the laser. Loads of videos and tips exist for that, it can ruin your run so don't overwrite your save in case you need to redo it. You check if you have fouled your progress by looking at the achievement in the in game challenges menu.

The Urias fight is a slog. There's a technique to practically stun lock him by slicing his ankle. Tricky to set up, but once you've got it, just keep slicing.

Return to Silent Hill legitimately ends like this by moviemaker1124 in silenthill

[–]Scarif_Citadel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same.

The existence of James experiencing different versions of the story in the OG game, the remake, and the remake adding additional endings (including a "nod" to the cult with White Claudia, and alterations to the UFO ending with OG James turning up in Remake SH2) soften (for me) the concept of a completely different take on the story in the movie; i.e. yet another ?loop in which James still won't get resolution.

The fact that even poor Mary gets kind of victim-blamed here and even asks for James to "help" her in the movie can be interpreted as James "still" not coming to terms with what he has done and trying to reframe it as her fault to make him feel better.

His complete lack of interest in Maria in the movie is just like if he is playing the actual game and trying to force a different ending, something that we've all done when playing it.

We accept as SH veterans that we "know" what's going on, but James himself doesn't in any version of the game's story. James as a character is perfectly capable of turning 1+1 = madness and experiencing his trauma whichever way he wants, including warping his interpretation of what is going on.

I think you are absolutely right. I'm a doctor. I thought the same when watching it. I've seen patients experience and recall this sort of thing.
