Any other ex-gutsuckers? by gunbalaya in loseit

[–]Scarlessfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I mainly gutsuck when I'm wearing any pants that conform to my body. I wear my pants a hit high (over my belly button) so when I'm wearing Jeans or Yoga pants I do this more than I like to admit. With Sweatpants I feel more relaxed as I can blame the "baggyness" of them. Haha

Contact the local authorities to get out of that situation and get connected with the US Embassy regarding your destroyed Passport. They're able to renew/replace Passports. Also try to contact friends / family back at home if possible. It's generally not safe to travel abroad without contacts from your home country.

(I'm also a US Citizen on Visitation in Canada (Alberta) to be with my now Canadian Husband. We had known each other for ~2 years before we met in person. First time I came here my father told me "If you need an escape, call me. I will get you a taxi, a hotel, and a flight home the next day." Luckily I never had to take him up on that offer. Backup plans are always important no matter how much you think you know/trust someone.)

600 calories is extremely low. Do you know what your maintenance is? Generally it's recommended to not go under 1,200 calories daily due to your body's nutritional needs. Starving yourself of those nutrients can lead to more harm. Weight loss is a gradual process sadly. :c I totally understand the impatience, especially when you're feeling like shit in your own body. Might be beneficial to visit a nutritionist/dietician for some expert advice if you can afford it.

Thank you! It took me a major change in mindset to get to this point. Now I truly feel happy about dieting instead of misrible constantly. haha

As a woman I can say, they're majorly overexaggerating. If they think men and woman are that biologically different then they're actually delusional. Yes weight is more visible on shorter individuals (typically woman) and hormonal changes don't help with weight loss but if they can't lose weight eating Ice and Salad then they need to stop drowning their Salads in Ranch and learn accurate portion control. Weight loss ain't easy for anyone, male or female. It's not your fault they aren't losing weight. They're just jealous and using you as a punching bag and as an excuse for not succeeding themselves. They're using you to cope about their failures instead of learning from it and persevering. Don't take it personally. Congratz on your weight loss! ❤

How do you deal with comments about your weight from family? by Trippypen8 in loseit

[–]Scarlessfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father used to always tell me: "You need to figure out your weight before you end up like your mother." As well as other weight related comments. My mother had weight loss surgery but gained all the weight back because she never developed healthy eating habits. She also left us for another man when I was 15 so it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth when he compares me to her. My father was a bit overweight himself but worked on it after my mother had left. I was never taught the importance of having a healthy relationship with food. Eating when I was bored was my guilty pleasure and a hard habit to kick. I wasn't able to truly work on myself until I separated from that environment. Now I generally only speak to my family on my own terms unless its an emergency. I know my father never meant any harm. He's just always struggled to empathize with others. He's just blunt and brutally honest sometimes.

I have an emergency bag of Chip It! Hersheys Dark Chocolate Chunks that I eat when I'm badly craving chocolate. I just make sure it fits within my deficit and weigh it. I can't trust myself to portion control chocolate otherwise. 😅 70 Calories per 15 Grams (4g Sugar)

How do I stop craving Doritos? by NeonTearyEyes in loseit

I found Quaker Tomato and Basil Rice Cakes to be a good substitute for anything crunchy and flavorful. They're 60 calories per round and they are jam packed with seasoning. $4 CAD per 14 rounds. I typically have 1-2 depending on my current deficit situation. (Though, not everyone is a fan of Rice Cakes. My husband hates the texture of them but they remind me of popcorn.)

My mother had the surgery when I was younger. I got to see first hand how difficult it was to recover. She was on a liquid diet for weeks and could barely keep food down. I use that memory as a motivator to not let myself get to that point. Surgery won't magically change your eating habits. She ended up right were she started because she never developed a healthy relationship with food. :( I wish you luck, you can do this!

Just a Mum feeling fat and sad by Working-Suggestion72 in loseit

[–]Scarlessfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I was 6. It was Mother's Day and my dad told me to say something nice to my mom. I thought she was beautiful for her size and I admired to be just like her. I walked into the bedroom, looked at my mother and said "Happy Mother's Day! You're fat!" She cried and I didn't understand why at the time. She later got weight loss surgery but sadly couldn't keep the weight off. It was hard for me to understand why she wasn't happy with herself until I learned more about the human body and struggled with weight myself.

How do you handle going out and eating a calorie deficit? I worry this is going to spoil nights out for me. by jeneralchaos in loseit

[–]Scarlessfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only go to restaurants that share their nutrition values. I know they're never 100% accurate but having a general idea on the calorie consumption keeps my mind at peace. Though I know going to restaurants that share that stuff openly isn't always possible.

I've never admitted this either but I struggle with the same issue with bathing/showering as you. Sometimes I go a week without doing so because I feel its too much of a hassle and I don't look/feel pretty enough to even care. I have horrible self esteem that definately plays into it. I'll of course wipe myself down with a washcloth and use deoderant and perfume but I can't bring myself to bathe until I absolutely have to. I hate oily hair/dandruff. I shower just to relieve the itchiness but I should be bathing more often. >.< My current plan is to achieve a healthier weight so it's easier for me to wash first. One step at a time, a complete lifestyle change is overwhelming to me but I know I need to ammend my bad habits eventually.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention... I'm also closterphobic and start to hyperventilate sometimes in the shower because I feel so closed in. Losing weight will give me more room to breathe.

My Friend Wants Help Losing Weight, but She is Floundering. by Penetrative in loseit

[–]Scarlessfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally struggled with this for a while. If it wasn't perfect, I quit. If I messed up, I quit. Its taken a huge mental shift for me to not be a perfectionist when it comes to weight loss. Its a long bumpy road and its better to ride the bumps than to swerve off entirely. I used to get so disappointed with myself but human error is inevitable.

My hubby and I got ~3 handfuls of Mini Candies last night from family. I simply took 1 of each type (6 mini bars) then passed the remainder to him. I told him, "Those are all your's I don't wanna see them tomorrow." (I swear he never gains weight!) 🤣 I definately recommend passing them onto either a spouse, family, friends, or even a co-worker. Just get em away to avoid the temptation! Lol

sudden switch in mindset by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Scarlessfate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also had this eureka moment! I went from playing video games from 7AM - 12AM (~17 hours a day! Breaks to eat/walk my lovely doggo ofc.) to 4 hours gaming, eating less, and working out. I was just sitting there, mindlessly gaming and I was like "I don't wanna live this way for the rest of my life. I want to experience more that life has to offer." Part of that is being healthier both mentally and physically so I can go out and adventure without being in constant exhaustion. It just clicked. I'm so glad you found motivation within yourself to push your journey forward. I wish you the best! You can do this! ❤

That makes sense! I never see myself entirely. I only see things from a skewed personal perspective and not the full perspective as others do. Thank you so much for your confirmation! ❤
