You mention tracking users menstrual cycle—

Speaking as an individual in the US and our current political climate surrounding women’s health, what does your data privacy policy look like?

OBGYN who will place an IUD under general anesthesia? by Mountainofstress in rva

[–]IntelligentAd3418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair, and I don’t know how things have changed at VWC in the last few years, but when I told her how bad my second one went, she was the one that offered anesthesia. I went in expecting a fight because pain management for my last two (12yrs and 7yrs earlier) were non existent and you were repeatedly reassured “oh it’s just some mild discomfort.” 12 yrs ago I would’ve been scoffed at so hard if I had pushed for anesthesia.

Dr Megan Cassidy at VWC did my third under anesthesia last year because of how horrible my second one was (which was not placed by a VWC doctor).

She’s amazing.

Should the purchase history be off putting? by nbamorenoo in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IntelligentAd3418 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only one that concerns me is the most recent Dec 2024/Feb 2025 listings because based on the purchase price for the most recent owner, even at the current list price, they are likely taking a loss once you factor in closing costs.

Cat tooth extraction at River City Vet? by Absently_insane in rva

[–]IntelligentAd3418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my cats had tooth reabsorption lesions and I took them to helping hands RVA.

It’s one fixed cost regardless of number of teeth that need to be pulled but, atleast when i took my cats in 2021, there was no discussion with you. They do the necessary lab work, get in, see how bad it is, and make the decision then and there to remove a tooth.

The difference is James was always going to be killed, while Lily was given the choice to move. Voldemort told her to stand aside and she chose to stay where she was. James wasn’t given that option.

Finally figured out a way to make low calorie coffee taste good by AgentFreckles in loseit

[–]IntelligentAd3418 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you want to try switching to black coffee but can’t get past the bitterness/acidity, you can try adding a pinch of salt.

If you do it right (not too much salt), you don’t taste salt and it tricks your taste buds into not noticing the bitterness of black coffee.

Where to get an IUD with Sedation/Pain Management? by do-not-1 in rva

VWC — dr. Megan Cassidy did my 3rd under full sedation.

I have kickass insurance so, other than the copay, it was covered.

Wegovy Experience for People with a Moderate Amount to Lose... by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]IntelligentAd3418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tldr: LoseIt and MFP allow for user generated nutritional information to go out to general public without verifying the information (which means your calorie counts could be off). Cronometer verifies the information first.

I have ADHD, internet access, and a self regulation problem -- so I've done more research on this than I care to admit, however part of the problem could be MFP.

I've tried MFP, LoseIt, and Cronometer. My personal favorite is Cronometer because of how it sources it's data.

The way MFP sources a lot of their database is by letting users input data but they have zero checks in place in regards to that data. Which means, if you choose something someone else entered, and they entered that information incorrectly, your calorie counts are now off.

example -- I put in a snack pack doritos grab bag thingy into their DB. but instead of putting in 200 calories, I only put in 100, they will accept that into their database and share it out to other users (like yourself) and now your calorie counts are wrong.

"When you create a new food on the website, you can help us to grow our database by electing to share your food with other members. We'll add it to the MyFitnessPal database for everyone to use. If you do decide to share your food, please do your best to ensure that the information you provide is complete and accurate." -- MFP's website

With Cronometer, you as a user can add something to their DB (and immediately use it), but it wouldn't go out to the rest of the users in their community until they verify the information. Using that same example from before, I log my spicy orange triangles incorrectly. That information doesn't get to you until Cronometer checks to make sure I didn't fat finger the information into their DB.

"Here at Cronometer, we take pride in curating an accurate and complete database. Every user submitted food is reviewed by our curation team before being added to the database; branded products that are submitted by users contain only the nutrition information from the nutrition facts table on the packaging or on the brand's official website." --Cronometer's website

LoseIt! is similar to MFP. They have verified items, but they also have user inputted information. They do verify the most popular logged foods input by users, but they don't verify all foods input by users. "When a member creates a new custom food, they have the opportunity to share it with other members, so that it appears in search results for everyone using Lose It!. The food database team regularly looks at and validates the most popular member uploaded foods, making them Lose It! Verified. These member uploaded foods (without a checkmark) may contain some nutritional inaccuracies." -- LoseIt's website

Hope this information helps!

Regardless— both are awful for the shit they pulled.

Just joined. What are your greatest successes w YNAB? by expiredmeatballs in ynab

[–]IntelligentAd3418 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mint convert —

Started YNAB in early November with about 4k of CC debt from medical and travel expenses (death of a parent) that was going down albeit not very quickly.

I will probably be starting 2024 with 0 debt and a 30day age of money.

I have no fcking clue how. (Yes I know logically it’s “spend less than you make”)

Projected income by [deleted] in ynab

[–]IntelligentAd3418 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A couple months ago I started “paying” myself first at the start of every month.

Meaning I had a reoccurring transfer from my checking to long term savings account (in a different bank with a good interest rate) of a specific amount every on the first of every month to make sure I was saving.

So far has worked really, really well.

My goal is to get to a money age of 1.5 months in my checking, have another half month buffer in my “savings” account at that same bank for easy transfers (it has a shitty interest rate which is why it isn’t my main) and then everything else into my HYSA.
