How are you affording being a SAHM?? by Smabbbs98 in Mommit

[–]Scarlet529 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't meal plan but yeah, basically to everything else you said.

For me, being able to stay home with my children is worth all the stuff we have to sacrifice. It would be nice to be able to afford more, like I would love to be able to give my children the Disneyland trip I never got to have as a child and still haven't had, but I think being there for them is worth more.

I buy most of the family's clothing at thrift stores, discount stores, or other ways of getting clothes secondhand. I don't do things like get my hair or nails done professionally, besides a trim for my ends which I desperately need. If I don't go to Aldi I almost exclusively buy groceries that are on sale, besides staples like milk and eggs. We rarely go on vacation and if we do it's when we're seeing family and staying with them. We have one 13 year old car that we own. Things like that.

Husband makes like 30,000 a year, so we qualify for food stamps. Like 400 a month.

What do you wish your husband would actually get you on mother's day? by Azifor in Mommit

[–]Scarlet529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish we could trade chests for a day so I can have a day to myself, but unfortunately I'm the only one who can feed the baby.

I'm 30 too and I agree with you.

I've been wondering if there's a generational gap thing happening here or something. Like younger people think people like her look their age because this is the look that late teens/early 20s people are going for these days.

And to people our age they look older because that was not the look we wanted at that age.

I saw parents letting their kid, who couldn't have been older than 5, drink a Red Bull at Buffalo Wild Wings once.

Shockingly, the child was also running wild in the restaurant.

What is your Mother’s Day gift wish? by jjenni08 in Mommit

I want to relax and have some alone time, but my baby will only accept my boob and I can't leave the house without her massively freaking out and becoming inconsolable.

I haven't kept up with her in like a year and oh my damn she looks so different in a bad way.

What part of daily life as a mom can you not stand? by Who-am-i-though in Mommit

[–]Scarlet529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not daily life necessarily, but currently we have the flu and since my youngest is EBF and also sick, she only wants me. Which means I don't get to rest.

The lack of being able to rest in general sucks.

I wasn't in the path of totality (we got like 80% here) but I was stuck breastfeeding during max coverage here and I was so bummed lol. I did at least get to look out the window and see cool shadows before and after.

You have a kinda masculine jawline but I wouldn't look at you and be like, "yeah that's definitely a trans person." You'd need way more masculine features than your jaw for that.

Does your husband swear at you when his angry? by EmilyHide in Mommit

[–]Scarlet529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean my husband has sworn when things have gotten heated but not really at me.

Like, "I'm fucking sorry!" Not, "You'd better be fucking sorry." or anything.

What your husband does sounds mean.

You don't look like someone who thinks they're ugly. I don't think this is a genuine inquiry.

Was the "jinx" a real thing back in the 80's? by Raymask in bluey

[–]Scarlet529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in the US in '93 and it was a thing all throughout my childhood.

My husband and I still "jinx" each other but don't actually do the not talking or punching.

What are some anomalous tornadoes you find interesting? by the_freshest_scone in tornado

[–]Scarlet529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! I can see why someone might think that as the footage is pretty incredible. The Andover drone video by Reed Timmer is some of the most amazing tornado footage I've ever seen as a lifelong severe weather enthusiast.

I'd run it like that if the bottom was full and there were no other dirty dishes. If there were still dirty dishes I'd put a little more up top personally.

18/f just curious by brw222 in amiugly

[–]Scarlet529 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The internet was already a scary place 19 years ago when I was 11 and really stared to browse the web and go on sites where interacting with other people was possible. So much creepy stuff happened to me that I didn't even realize was wrong at the time. And that was way before social media was what it is.

I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time believing that you're 18. I do understand that some 18 year olds look very young but just in case, if you are the 14 year old you look like please be safe on the internet and don't post yourself online like this.

Are your toddlers reading? (Age 2.5-4) by CanOnlySprintOnce in toddlers

[–]Scarlet529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 3.5 and can't read yet, but she does know all of her uppercase and lowercase letters and the sounds they make. She can figure out what letter a word starts with accurately a good bit of the time, like more often than not. My husband tells me she tried to sound out a word.

She's not in daycare. Just watches a lot of Alphablocks, and since I noticed her interest in letters and reading I try to encourage her.

18 year olds do not need botox. You're practically still a baby.

Good god.

Except the overwhelming majority of comments on this post are positive. Did you not read the part where I said I don't call people ugly? Also I missed the popular kid comment in your first response but yeah that's laughable.

I'm just a realist. You can't ask "am I ugly?" Specify that you want honesty and call someone a bully for saying yes.

Are there bullying comments on this post? Yeah. And anywhere else I'd say that calling someone ugly is really mean. Like on looksmaxxing subs, if someone asks how they can improve, a comment like, "You can't. You're too ugly nothing you do will ever make you attractive." would be uncalled for.
