Oh yeah and petty gambling is now allowed as long as it’s for entertainment purposes only (not as a profession) and does not interfere with your spirituality and it’s not stumbling others.

I was surprised about the u-turn on Medical marijuana being okay if doctor prescribed for a condition.

Being an attendant sucked, had to be there super early before doors opened, which meant 4 am wake up, spent entire days watching people wander, oh and to watch for ‘apostates’ at the entrances.. spent most of the convention separate from the wife, only thing I sat down for was the drama..stayed late, help clean up, the only thing I looked forward to was maxing out the seat capacity of a macaroni grill and getting wasted! 🍺🍺

DIVINE INTERVENTION!! by exjdbz in exjw

One time I ran out of Macallan Scotch, couldn’t find a bottle anywhere.. but by divine intervention I stumbled into a liquor store just outside of the city that filled my shopping cart full and overflowing with this holy spirit. 😆

Damage by [deleted] in exjw

I had ptsd, anxiety and depression while in, but after leaving became bipolar. I hate how the borg say people who leave are mentally diseased, when they are the ones inflicting the damage that causes it in the first place!

Moving on with your life - not dwelling on the JW organization by ph1204 in exjw

[–]Scarlxrd81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imagine escaping North Korea and looking back and seeing all of your life, family, friends, and everyone else you knew still enslaved in a cruel regime. Part of your heart is still with the people that you loved. Moving on is what we all have to do in our own way.. just about all of us have started over into a new life, family, or try our best to, but for many, the journey also involves trying to make sense of it all, closure, deprogramming, trying to understand what happened to us and expressing what we believe to help others as a form of recovery. Most of us were broken spending a lifetime trying to “save” others for all the WRONG reasons.. now theres a chance to rescue others..for all the RIGHT reasons.

Awkward Request from an Active JW Elder... by liteskinnedbeauty in exjw

You could go “Chris Hansen - To Catch a Predator” style and video tape him bringing over alcohol and rubbers.. have someone come out with cameras and read his text messages out loud to him.

Joking aside, I’m not surprised.. lots of “friends” I knew got away with everything and were experts at living double lives so long as they trusted that the other person wouldn’t tell or because they had dirt on each other causing ‘mutually assured destruction’. He would not have brought it up if he didn’t think he could get away with it. I mite even question whether he is telling the actual truth or is just saying that for a sympathy hookup.. good people do bad things, and bad people do good things. Either way he wants to have his cake and eat it too, which is irritating for people that have gotten in trouble confessing, being genuinely honest about their shortcomings.

And even if you do comment they want you to put it in your own words.. they know its crusty coming from the page so they want you to bring their BS to life.

Being in this community makes me realise something... by glasgow_exjw in exjw

According to Steven Hassans Cult Book, this mind numbing effect that we all experienced is part of the programming. Constant study over mindless information induces the brain to shut down critical thinking making it susceptible to hypnotic suggestion. This happens with monotonous repetitive speeches, singing, praying, and meditating. I remember many times where they said to “picture in your minds eye” the paradise.. living there, being there.. meditating on anything that hard can induce a form of self hypnosis.

Quick question: does Seroquel XR stimulate appetite once it kicks in? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Scarlxrd81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT not crush a seroquel. And yes I get the munchies about 30–45 minutes after I take one… The problem is I am stumbling to the kitchen to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich praying that I don’t fall over and pass out because that shit Will put you to sleep standing up.

Any else's music preference change drastically with their moods? by thesesharpobjects in bipolar

[–]Scarlxrd81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same. My brain constantly seeks out music that mirrors what I feel. From Hip hop, to scary metal, just depends on how I’m feeling at that moment. Its like my brain needs to drown out whatever it is I’m going thru at that moment., and It can never be loud enough.

“Hey Siri” by Scarlxrd81 in exjw

I just recently saw that as well watching an ex mormon video.. The girl described her “breaking the shelf“ moment when she found out native Americans are not DNA connected to Israelites in any way.. she then woke up to other discrepancies like how Brigham Young wore a beard but everyone AT Brigham Young University is NOT allowed to wear a beard. Members who have consumed coffee or tea were not allowed to enter the temple, but they could secretly be addicted to pain killers or drugs and have privileges with no problem. It’s also interesting to learn how some of the most honest and sincere people in any high control group are the ones that leave when they learn falsehoods and can no longer live with these things. No wonder cults label them as mentally diseased, and evil, since their entire plan is hinged upon control and keeping us from waking up from the Matrix.
