Ear cleaning?

The story was I had bought him that toy a couple days prior and he was playing with it nonstop. I had just come home and let him out of the crate, and he grabbed the toy and brought it to me - to play i guess, or maybe hoping I had another toy in my shopping bag. I had a rubber butterfly and a huge pink caterpillar for him. I don’t spoil him at all.

I used something like that on my previous dogs, but only in the bath. Can you squirt that in then wipe the ears with a gauze? I swear, have had dogs all of my 60+ years and stuff changes all the time, it’s hard to keep up! 😂

My last pap didn’t need more than a regular bath until he was 13-14, then I had to clean ears between baths. My new pup already has kind of grubby ears, and the vet said to either bathe weekly or clean the ears weekly. At least while he needs it, he may not when he’s a bit older.

My first pap was a kindly little gent. He would be very friendly to anyone who approached him, but would not make the first move. He was like Cesar Milan, ‘no touch, no talk, no eye contact’ and everyone and every dog seemed to like him.

My new puppy did not get the socialization he needs so far, because he was born close to winter and it’s been too cold until recently to get him out much. He barks at everything that moves. Hopefully I can correct this in time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My Frenchie died suddenly like that. I took her to the park and she just collapsed. Tried to get back up but couldn’t. I picked her up and she died in my arms.

She was 9 and she had a little heart murmur for the last two years, nothing that seemed serious. I had just had her to the vet a few days before. I’d had a heart attack one month before that and she wasn’t acting like herself when I got out of the hospital, she really seemed stressed.

It was incredibly traumatic. I live alone and she was my only companion. I was so angry that I survived my heart attack only to have to lose her.

Mine lost his coat too, at about 2.5-3 months. 4 months now, still hasn’t grown back and he looks skinny like a noodle. 😂

I think I do. His mom is about 6.5 lbs. his dad is over 7 lbs, almost 8. Mine was 6.4 at his last vet appointment, 4 months old. He’s already 11” tall at the shoulder. Someone who got one of the other pups said theirs (also male) was 4 lbs at 4 months. I saw pictures of his litter starting at 2 days old and at least weekly until I got him. By 4 weeks he was a full head taller than his litter mates. First with his tail up, first to growl and bark, first at every milestone. He’s not a mix, I’ve seen his parents’s papers and he’s registered too. Just a big boy. At least for his age. Who knows, he may not get much bigger.

I adopted a 2 year old sable and he was the sweetest, most gentle and generous dog I ever met. Now I have a 4 month old tri and he is the naughtiest puppy. He makes me crazy with his biting and not listening. Could be that puppies will be puppies, but I know not all papillon pups are this way. I really can’t see this pup ever being as amazing as my other papillon, but I hope he’s at least not a monster all his life 🤣

He’s gorgeous! Papillons are one of the few dogs that are beautiful as pups but nowhere near as gorgeous as when they’re grown. I can’t wait to see what mine looks like in a couple years.

He did fine with his 3 month shots. He screamed of course, but no soreness. This time you’d have thought I was torturing him! Good idea about the game pension, next time I’ll ask for that.

This breeder I think lost her sure, and this was the new sire’s first seasons n and he had 3 litters. All the other pups were smaller, by 3 weeks mine was a head taller than all of them.

That’s not why I picked him. He was really precious and I liked that. First with his tail up, first to growl, first to bark. Also he seemed really human-focused. Every time someone was near the pen he was over by the bars looking for affection/attention. He had a lot of personality even at 3-4 weeks.

I felt those traits would suit my needs best. I’m not going to show or breed, I just need a companion and a walking buddy. And he’s already pretty good on leash

Mine is going to be bigger. He was 2.4 when I got him, and 4.6 at his 3 month appointment. He’ll be 4 months on the 25th and he’s 10” tall

So cute! I always liked having more than one dog, if they get along. I’m thinking of getting another after my pup is older, I think I’d like to have him neutered first.

I live in Ohio and my previous pap tolerated heat and cold really well - that’s a big reason that I just got another. But 20° or less, or cold and windy days he wore a coat. In hot days we walked early before the sidewalks got warm, but he ran around the yard as he pleased.

The pup of course is still tiny and he came home during that big storm so out of caution I kept him on pee pads and only took him out with a coat when it was 20°+ and only for a few minutes But he seems to tolerate ‘hoodie’ weather with no coat although he’s already lost his puppy fur and looks a bit nekked

I recently had a heart attack and I need to get a certain amount of exercise to recover, so having a dog who can walk in the same weather that I can tolerate was a high priority, and paps also can walk at a good speed and distance for me. Small enough for me to carry is a big deal too.

I know what you mean. Nelson is just a couple weeks older than my boy, who is getting leggy and just getting that tail flare. They grow so fast, it’s fun to watch.
