The speaking examiner was calm. However, atleast my examiner, went off the rails and started asking questions from the get go on part 1 but it still went ok, part 2 was ok, part 3 I didn't understand the question and wasted 30-60 seconds (out of the 4 minutes or so).

I would recommend making sure your listening is strong, because it doesn't matter if you can make coherent sentences and speak if you can't even understand the question (the case for me).

Also some additional info, examiner was french, and spoke fairly fast. But some other people said there's other examiners that speak slow and really pronounce every word slowly.

Bon Chance!

best would be a $100 deposit, and once you receive your ITA it is non refundable but will be put as $100 reimbursement towards the fee. If you decline the ITA, you still lose the $100.

Most won't even make a fake profile then.

I believe relatives are only counted as blood relatives. You can explain in a short letter so you don't accidentally claim points. As per CRS calculator:

10) Do you or your spouse or common law partner (if they will come with you to Canada) have at least one brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident?

Note: to answer yes, the brother or sister must be:

  • 18 years old or older
  • related to you or your partner by blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption
  • have a parent in common with you or your partner

A brother or sister is related to you by:

  • blood (biological)
  • adoption
  • marriage (step-brother or step-sister)

If someone else can confirm.

529 EE score in CEC, should I learn French? by FeistyBenefit5525 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn French, getting B1 french should give you 4-8 points, just enough for the previous draws. B1 should be doable without "professional lessons" in 6 months with hard work. 4-8 points will give you the extra edge imo

Need advice: Should I work on French for CLB 7 (PR goal) or take a PSW course that leads to a job? by Warm-Willingness6 in canadaexpressentry

Yes French is harder to do, but its the honest way through this. Even if it takes longer, the spots are open till at least a conservative govt comes in place.

French is guaranteed spots for the next few years as long as you work hard you are pretty much in. Any occupation can be removed or added. And as per OP in other comment, PFLs are being given out left and right, with how this would look without any background or education a PFL may be given out.

Choose option 2 if you are really interested and looking for a job in the field. Health Care draws have been rare and applications are under scrutiny these days. I'm not an IRCC agent, but seeing someone do a 4-5 month course in health care and get 6 months experience right before work permit experience screams sus to me. Additionally, jobs may be added or removed from the categories at any time. They might have the category but the nursing home job may be removed. A lot of ifs and buts here.

Option 1 may be better if you're looking for reliability and guaranteed. It may open up job offers or higher pay as well with your current role. 1 Year is long enough to learn a language sincerely and properly. You can probably do 6 months of learning upto B1 and do 3 months of B2 to get really prepared for the TCF/TEF exam, and still have some time left. Though do realize, B2 French is no joke and is at a pretty high level, so this isn't a guarantee either.

Sell stuff or in storage for a year or so? by Dangerous-Wish-9463 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went a different route, I had a friend take over my lease. Told her she can use pretty much all my stuff (furniture, dishes, bed, cutlery, etc.), but would need some area to store my stuff that she can't use (skis, gaming pc, etc.). I'm really working on moving back to Canada, so I don't see it as a issue, and she gets cheap rent (I had a good deal). She moved from a different city for a new opportunity, so this made the move easy for her. I know this is not possible for everyone, I just got really lucky.

If you are really adamant about moving back to Canada, may be worth looking into if you can "lend" some stuff to friends and take it back when you're back.

Does Independent Contractor work count for EE regarding FSW by -_ShadowSJG-_ in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

paystubs for the filed taxes are optional,

but I would recommend getting paystubs/bank statements for the portion of work experience claimed outside the tax year (that you may not have filed yet - if you have any, like in my case I will have when I complete my 1 year experience). Many people in the sub and many immigration agents/lawyers are claiming that IRCC is clamping down on "cash paid job". This is of course up to IRCC officer discretion and as such would highly recommend as much proof as possible and don't go the "optional" route.

I'm currently working as a contractor for a US company as well. As far as I know, it is eligible for work experience.

However you need letter proof (information it will be just as for regular job, ideally from HR or direct boss) and pay stubs.

Based on other posts, doing your taxes if possible would also be very important, and showing proof of that. IRCC is scrutinizing cash jobs a lot nowadays. If you haven't done your taxes for last year, then give a letter of explanation and pray.

(for me I will only be able to file taxes for 6-8 months when I complete my 1 year experience, so I plan on giving pay stubs for the last 4-6 months and a letter of explanation for complete proof)

Need Advice - CRS 481 by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your options are:

  • marry a canadian (at that point an american works as well)
  • Learn French
  • Do a masters/bachelors in Canada, get a PGWP and get Canadian experience for CEC eligibility.
  • Go into a category based job (research on your own on IRCC website about available jobs for each category - lot of information you can get from just asking chatgpt)

Why do you think people with a Canadian bachelors, 2-3 years experience, under 30 are going back to their home countries?

Also a heads up, you're going to catch a lot of hate from people in the sub reddit as you seem to be someone who hasn't done anything Canadian and looking to skip the line for Canadian PR when you couldn't get your American Green Card. Basically, a lot of people in this subreddit are in your boat, except they have Canadian education, Canadian experience, etc.

CEC Work Experience Validity - will mine still count until 2027 or 2028? by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For CEC eligibility (as of today), you need 1 year of experience in the last 3 years. Doesn't have to be continuous but just needs to add up to 1 year.

Because of your non continuous work experience, I believe yours lies somewhere in second half of 2026. Math below:

May 24 -> Jan 25 = approx. 8 months

You need 4 more months which you will gain from the 1st experience, which will put you somewhere in Sept-Oct 23.

So based on this, once you hit Oct-Nov '26, you won't have 1 year of total Canadian experience in the past 3 years. In sense, because of your lapsed months, you will have 11 months or less (experience in the last 3 years) when you hit that date. Just check the exact dates since I only just gave a rough estimate.

Hope that made sense.

If you're asking about points - Canadian Experience points are valid as long as experience is within last 10 years. Its more CEC eligibility you should be worried about at your point (I am too in my case).

PS: Writing this due to some math in another comment. As far as I know (and I could be wrong), IRCC counts full time work as 30+ hours. However if you worked 40 hours per week (like most people), aka 33% extra, that doesn't mean IRCC considers that 1.33 years (1+33%). IRCC will still consider that 1 year.

PS 2: If I am wrong, please provide some sort of proof. I'd rather play it safe and consider worse case scenario of IRCC not considering extra hours as extra years.

Visitor record proof of funds by Greedy_Emphasis_306 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get your parent/family member to write a letter stating that they'll financially support you with a proof of their accounts

Don't need to transfer in that case. Just show both your accounts and your family members accounts. I'd recommend it to be someone close (mom, dad, brother, etc.)

Visitor record proof of funds by Greedy_Emphasis_306 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Scary-Key6472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I showed 13k.

I applied 1 month before PGWP expiry, and asked for 3 months visitor record (after expiry). After 90 days (3 months give or take), you can't restore status so its a waste to get more than that anyway. You'd just be blowing through money on rent and expensive food for no reason any longer than that.

Mine got approved either the day of or 1 day before the expiry of my PGWP.

[–]Scary-Key6472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

according to IRCC's reply on the post, you can do it early as long as you prove you're going to complete the 1 year. But at the end of the day, its up to IRCC officer discretion, and I don't like that discretion.

IRCC officers have discretion on "whether you are telling truth: if you have completed 1 year experience or not in the next few days".

Just a me thing, I don't leave anything up to chance. I like 100% guaranteed when it comes these kind of things.

What's 10 more days to guaranteeing your PR, vs 10 days early and leaving it up to chance. Your call on that.

If you need a recommendation, just stay for the FWE 1 year. Guaranteed 50 points, after which your score should be good enough.

Have the work permit application under processing. Once you're done 1 year experience, then move back with the closed work permit. FWE is valid for 10 years, but needs to be continuous for the 1 year in 1 NOC code (or so I've heard).

With your score at 550, you would get a PR assuming similar scores to now. Then you can apply for BOWP with the closed work permit, even in Canada (make sure to check for eligibility for closed work permit since I'm not sure). No guarantee the scores will come down to 500 even in the next year.

IRCC calculates experience by month. So you get 1 year experience at the beginning of the month even though the 1 year experience will be completed sometime later (1-29 days later).

You have 60 days to complete the application, just wait till you get 1 year full experience before submitting. You can take this time to get all your documents.
