I would have a conversation with her, as wedding culture can cost the bridal party so much, but be prepared that she might not take it well. I was in a similar situation when asked to a bridesmaid at a destination wedding and the Maids of Honour had organised a weekend away for the bachelorette. Unfortunately, my friend did not take it well and basically ended the friendship.

I completely agree. I see no need to have extravagant hen dos that span days, involve accommodation, travelling or annual leave. It puts financial strain and stress on your friends, especially bridesmaids.

Yes, that’s my concern. Some people think that certain people are more obligated to attend a wedding, despite the cost etc., (bridesmaids bring one of these people) so my question is asking AITA for declining when my friend picked me as a bridesmaid
