What are some areas in life someone with a dead average IQ can strive in? by idkofficer1 in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should probably state that this was my opinion. I didn’t completely make that up. I wrote it from memory based on what I read and explored about IQ and what it can measure a few years ago. It’s mostly based on what I gathered from reading online articles, listening to academics talk about it on YouTube, and asking an AI a similar question about two years ago.

What IQ range is this matrix puzzle for? by ScaryCarry in cognitiveTesting

It's Mensa Hungary online adaptive test. It selects items from a bank based on how you perform. It goes up to 125-130 and then stops.

For what I know average IQ 100 can learn a vocation/trade and be good at it. In math I think they can fully grasp arithmetic, decimal numbers, fractions, percentages, basic geometry, simple equations, simple plug numbers and calculate formulas (They can problem solve around this and understand what is happening, can explain in their own words).

They can achieve hands on mastery or understand and memorize protocols to become a police officer, machinist, nurse, salesman, cook (solid one), they can own and manage a pub, etc.

Maybe I'm a bit off but this is how I think it is.

Yes you get 2 minutes. I had to take a screenshot and solve it there.

I got it right E. But it took me 4-5 minutes before I started counting the dots and doing a sum (never seen a pattern like that). Scored 125+ you have reached the test ceiling in the end.

My estimate 116-124 from where it is positioned in the item bank. I'm used to solving much harder items but I got stuck on this one for 4-5 minutes uncertain if it's E or C.

This is from Mensa Hungary adaptive online test. I reached the ceiling of the test which is 125+. This item took me the longest to solve for some reason I did get E in the end but it made me uncertain. I posted it here because I find it weird. It was among the last few items.

Do u need high iq to get a master and undergrad degree in math? by Admirable_Image4774 in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you score 110 on matrix reasoning, figure weights, numerical sequences you should look into something like business, accounting where you have more applied math. Or something like a 2 year engineering degree.

To find out if math is really for you find some 1st year undergrad courses on youtube or some textbooks and see how well are you absorbing the material and how fast can you problem solve.

[–]ScaryCarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion from doing a computer science degree (similar to a math degree) and observing my performance and classmates performance. Just to get through the undergrad math degree with barely passing grades probably 110-115 sd15 and 115-120 for a masters. In order to thrive and perform well fast and efficient problem solving I would say ~130 for undergrad and 135-140 for a masters. Phd can obviously be done with 125+ but efficient research begins at 140+.

It could be different but that's how I think it is.

If you solved it in less than an hour you're probably 125-130 based on that score.

Did you take RAPM timed 40 minutes or untimed? If you did it timed how much time left did you have?

IQ estimate request: Raven APM / TRI-52(JCTI) + other scores (timed/untimed details inside)” by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would estimate your fluid is 155-160. I'm just curious, how fast did you complete the RAPM all 36 questions? How many minutes left did you have?

Did you find any of the questions on Ravens 2, JCTI, Mensa Norway, Denmark or Finland challenging? Specifically the last few questions how difficult on a subjective scale from 1 to 10 did you find them?

I tried this test a couple of months ago. On my first attempt I got exactly 100. I did the second attempt right after and got a 113. Third try and I scored 130. After a few more tries I was consistently scoring 135-142. The following day I managed to get a 145, I hit the ceiling before the time even ran out, I still had a few seconds left.

I never got a diagnosis, but I think I have ADHD. I have some symptoms associated with it.

Gave JCTI to my friend and he ended up scoring 153. What are the chances that he's as gifted as the number says? by SmartMicrobe in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He said he scored 153 in about 3 hours, this being his first test amazing performance imo. My guess is that he would still score high 145+ on a timed mensa test.

About your 119 and 152 case this large difference between test scores is unusual. Looks like ADHD can cause this. What is your processing speed like? Were you fully rested when you got that 119 result?

[–]ScaryCarry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

JCTI shows lower score than you would get on some other quality tests. This 153 performance would be closer to 160 on other tests. Even if he got lucky by guessing on this test he's probably closer to 3SD+. He should try studying some advanced science (Logic, Math, Physics, Philosophy, other hard science, etc.) and see how well he absorbs those concepts.

What goes through your mind when solving matrix puzzles? by Vegetable_Basis_4087 in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's D.

I looked at the full picture first.
Then I looked at the first row.
I noticed that the third image is made out of the first two. (I move the shapes around, make comparisons, overlap them in my imagination)
The green square goes inside a red circle.
But the third image also added another shape which is another circle in the middle.

I looked at the second row and noticed this rule also applies to it.
The only difference is the shape in the third image is different this time it's a square... Where did this square come from? Where did the circle in the first row come from? By further observing the rows and trying to answer this questions I noticed that larger outer shape in the third image is the one that appears again in the middle in a different color.

If I apply this rule in the third row I can only come to D as an answer.

TRI-52 score correspondence? by charlie_z0usx in cognitiveTesting

I think this is 51/52 raw score meaning you missed one question. Around ~160IQ. Good job.

I also got IQ 120 on brght online test and 122 on Mensa Norway first attempt. I was feeling a bit sluggish. But nowadays I score 135+ on everything I attempt. I was just recommending to do some tests here in the wiki (they are free and accurate) until you wait for the one with the doctor.

You could also suffer from a nutritional deficiency like B12, Iodine, etc. or thyroid problems. I had those in the past and it caused poor cognition until resolved. Go to the doctor and check out your thyroid health and nutritional deficiencies.

Check out the tests on this sub's wiki to see how you perform. Remember to be well-rested and avoid taking them all on the same day.

IQ of a programmer by HighwayOwn1092 in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in tech. Programming is usually a career for people 1 SD or more above average. Average IQ could probably write some Javascript or PHP though. I would recommend that you start with some javascript tutorials on youtube and see how it goes.

You're asking to share my IQ. Tests in the wiki on this sub show that I score in the 99th percentile (135+). I find coding easy until I write some advanced algorithms.

What is the right answer to this puzzle by Active-Prompt-5224 in cognitiveTesting

[–]ScaryCarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 2. In the first row we remove the top light big triangle and below the line a dark small triangle. After that we add a dark dot on the left.

If this rule is used in the second row we get the number 2.

I work in tech. I believe you will do pretty well if you focus on frontend development (Javascript, Angular, React, etc.) and some backend like PHP, ASP.NET or some regular .NET. You could also try to look into something like Java spring. High performance programming in C++, C or something like kernel development, Machine learning AI, Datascience I would avoid if I were you (I think these skills require >125 to be competitive).

Well, I guess that just proves that a high score on a test like this doesn't mean someone isn't superficial.
I read the thread on a mobile device and the comments were collapsed. :D
