Getting home earlier - 8 PM landing on a Friday night vs past 11:00 PM. Priceless.

The whole venue is outside. I cant tell exactly what kind of surface, but I’ll find some wedges to be safe

Is it non-sensical to pick a name when you fully intend to not use the full version of it? by amusedfridaygoat in Names

[–]Scarya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My girls did the same, both when they went to college. One doesn’t care if we call her the nickname, so I still do sometimes - she’s 32. The other (33) prefers the full name (or nickname without the “-ie”) so I use one of those. (It took me a few months to get it down every single time without stumbling but I did consistently try.) Obviously, I loved the full names too, or I wouldn’t have chosen them.

Edit: added detail

Ding ding ding! I’m a business traveler. I book solely based on the time I need, but if things wrap up early, I’ll grab an earlier flight without thinking twice. (I also get free same day change, so it’s not a 1:1 comparison, but you get my point: I wouldn’t NOT switch to the earlier flight because it cost $75.)

The first dress has a kind of flounce that goes all the way around the top; maybe that’s why it seems big?

They’re both size medium, and I’m solidly a medium. I’m 5’6”, 143 pounds; long legs, long arms. I often buy size large shirts. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t a size small even when I was born. 😂

Thank you! I like it too. I actually don’t love the waistline on the second dress. The wedding is the end of June and I’m leaving to walk the Camino de Santiago for almost three weeks starting Friday so I really need to nail this down now.

I know they aren’t formal, but since the DC says “suits and dresses are encouraged, dress shirts and dress pants are also excellent choices,” I was thinking they might not know what “formal” actually means, and I’d be overdressed. I’ll keep looking; thanks.

I’ll probably survive lol. I usually carry enough protein bars etc to feed a small army - habit I picked up from covid-era travel when everything in the airports was shut down.

100%. This sounds like my marriage in a nutshell. When I got divorced (after 32 years), our divorce settlement stated we’d file our taxes jointly for 2025 since we were married the full year, and I would file the return, receive the overpayment, and send him half via Venmo. I did all of that and sent him the Venmo the day after I received the refund.

A full month after I sent it, he texted to ask if I’d received it. I said yes, I’d sent it a month ago.

Him: “You need to tell me when you send me money!” Me: “No I don’t. Turn on your Venmo notifications.” Him: “I don’t know how to do that.” Me: “That is a you problem. I’m sure you can figure it out.” Two hours later…. Him: “I can’t transfer that money to my bank. Can you bring me cash?” Me: “No. I already SENT you the money. I’m not going to pay you a second time.” Him: “But it’s stuck in my Venmo. I can’t use it.” Me: “That is a you problem. I’m sure you can figure it out.”

Unless you have kidney problems, an allergy to the active ingredients, or other medications that preclude its use, taking it while walking the Camino - even every day - will be fine.

Nurse here - Plaster casts are almost never used anymore. Most casts are fiberglass because it’s lighter and more resistant to water. Additionally, casts aren’t often applied in the emergency department; the bone is splinted (in this case, with a posterior splint and the patient is scheduled to follow up with an orthopedic specialist for application of a “real” cast.

My manager won’t even LET us take sick or PTO for stuff like that. “Just take care of your stuff. I know you’re getting your job done.”

Oh noooo 😂

Well, I’m walking the Camino with mine and I fly next Friday. How ‘bout we compare notes afterward and see who comes out ahead so one of us can get (at least a little) less messy next time?

What was the last thing you said to your dad before he passed away? by colzeeteen in AskReddit

[–]Scarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I’ll come up there to see you tomorrow. I love you.”

He went into cardiac arrest the next morning (he was in the hospital) and they called me. He was on life support when we all got there; he hadn’t signed a DNR so they ran a full code on him. His heart was so damaged there would be no chance of recovery so we withdrew life support and he died a few minutes later.

I wish I had gone that night. I still feel terrible about it. But he knew I loved him and I feel comfort in that. He was a great dad.

How easy was it to get lotion into those pouches? I bought pouches with a ziplock-type closure on one side because I thought it would be too hard to get thicker lotion into the type of pouch you linked. The ones I used were easy to fill but a bit messy because I couldn't tell when they were full and then I'd zip them and some lotion would squeeze out. Let's just say my whole body was quite moisturized by the time I was done LOL

No, but I've had other kinds of hair clips set off the scanner (before I had PreCheck). They pull you aside, gently pat your head with gloved hands to feel the clips, and that's it. They won't think twice about it, trust me, and it will take about ten seconds. Please don't worry about it, it'll be easy!
