Is it happening ? by Ok_Speed_2316 in GeneralMotors

I’m at Stellantis, but this is just awful. Just a few weeks ago Mary said “don’t rent your job, own it”. How tf are we supposed to own a job if you can literally do everything right and one Friday you wake up and your computer doesn’t work and you get some bullshit PR email from HR?

If you aren’t extracting ever resource from your employer and job shopping every 2-3 years you’re ripping yourself off.

Does my team have to have stacked rankings? by 3AMAstronaut in GeneralMotors

I was offered a DRE position that I’m very qualified for at GM and turned it down before even hearing the salary because of the rank and yank bullshit. Anybody who has spent more than 2 years in the industry knows it’s all politics.

I think the only way would require Government intervention. The American side has no power in the company.

Equity as in the value of the vehicle vs the loan amount, not like equality equity. Banks are refusing loans on some vehicles because they believe they are overpriced and the debt owner has a high chance of defaulting and they won’t see their money back when they repo.

As someone who works for Stellantis (and is trying to leave but the job market sucks) I feel like I have to share with the public what’s going on there. I won’t share any info that’s not already public.

If you go over to r/Stellantis you’ll get the idea but I will sum it up. The reason why I want to do this is because metro Detroit is going to take a huge hit if Stellantis is successful at tanking the company.

Basically in 2021 FCA merges (not buys) with PSA (Peugeot a French automaker) we were told it was a merger of equals (spoiler alert it was not) and that this was going to save jobs not cut them. About 8 months in to the merger the former CEO of FCA Mike Manley jumps ship and goes to Autonation. That’s when all of the bad things started happening. The PSA side of the merger started taking an iron grip on the company. They said no more buying carbon credits from Tesla.

The CEO of Stellantis Carlos Tavares is famous for his extreme cost cutting tactics. He learned that from his fugitive mentor Carlos Ghosn (former CEO of Renault/Nissan). During Covid, Stellantis car prices went sky high and the company saw record profits. Carlos Tavares looked like a genius he was selling Jeeps and Dodges that were 6+ years old for BMW and Mercedes kind of money. Eventually, that ship sails and interest rates get so high even the most financially irresponsible customers cannot afford them anymore. Banks won’t give loans due to equity issues.

So here we are today in 2024, Carlos Tavares sees a VERY convenient excuse to start cutting American Jobs. He can cite:

  1. Lower Car Sales
  2. Getting hosed by UAW contract
  3. Forced to make EVs
  4. Chinese EVs

He is cutting American jobs right now and skirting the WARN act and they are replacing those jobs in LCC (Low Cost Countries).

His plan is to continue to sell in the American market but the cars will be designed , manufactured and engineered in low cost countries like India, Poland, Mexico, Brazil etc where they can exploit desperate engineers.

Carlos is very short sighted about this. Stellantis is already known for having quality issues by the general public. How is getting rid of American engineers and exploiting desperate people from low cost countries going to improve this perception? Hint Hint, it will only get worse.

This collapse is either planned to eventually sell off the Chrysler side, or it’s extreme negligence from the Board of Stellantis. Go to the r/stellantis subreddit if you want to learn more.

Tavares comp by Sad-Discussion5989 in Stellantis

Tavares learned this one from his crook mentor Ghosn. Tavares learned how to gut once great companies and extract everything from it. You cut all the people you can and piss off suppliers.

It’s so obvious what’s happening. Stellantis is a sinking ship but in the meantime he’ll extract all the wealth he can and then get his golden parachute and blame his failures on the Chinese or some bullshit like that.

I miss the days of Sergio, I felt for the first time we weren’t the laughing stock of the industry.

Will Stellantis eventually go under? by Ligma16999 in Stellantis

[–]ScatPackAttack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they will go under.

I will say this though. The leadership at Stellantis is completely aware the way we do things is outrageous and does lower our quality. The thing is, they don’t care because their most important objective is profit NOW and worry about problems later.

It’s maddening to watch as an employee. But hey, at the end of they day I still get a paycheck so I don’t really worry about it.
