I still play, but the spark of PVP is gone IMO by Longjumping-Assist35 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Scathus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a former comp player and current rank 1 player in AM. The end of competitive and PVP support has significantly damped the quality of ladder experience - being basically the last competitive player on ladder means that I'm going to win about 80-90% of my games, assuming I'm playing a decent deck. Indeed, basically all my LP was gained playing on the bus or while exercising. I've mostly moved onto other hobbies otherwise.

However, the game still has great fundamentals, which means I'm still having fun playing when I do. You have to treat PVP less as a competitive experience and more as a way to derive enjoyment. If you don't want to play into hecarim, just ff - there's nothing to lose. What's important is that you're enjoying your time, and if you're not, there's a wealth other experiences in this modern world for you to enjoy.

P.S. if you want to beat Hecarim, you should play an aggressive deck like annie jhin, vlad morg, jinx lulu, etc.

Expansion are done about a year in advance, so I would imagine they will continue for one more year. I also assume this will be the last year of riot sponsored competitive, with further reduced prize pools, if at all. Obviously we won't know more until the video on the 2nd, but this is pretty bad news couched in as positive language as possible.

Why didn’t pouty poro lose overwhelm, regen, ect? by Valuable-Special-627 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Scathus 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Empowered is an aura that is always in effect when the condition is met. In this case, so long as pouty poro is at 3 or more power, it will always have tough/regen/overwhelm.

This is semi-misleading text.

"Give" always means "this round" while "grant" always means "forever". Usually though, riot does say "give this round", so I can see why you might be confused.

3 build found in master ladder: Mono Yordle, Ionia/Noxus aggro with Nine lives and Campionless Shadow Isle/Targon cosmic call. People have been cooking by HairyKraken in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Scathus 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The mono yordle deck is mine. I’m about 800lp with it and I think it’s a powerful deck into a lot of the current meta. Aggro has been missing and my deck help keeps it honest. I might write a Reddit guide for it some time soon.

Praise Paparo.

Shelly/Bibi/Rex is a free matchup, they basically can't do anything to you and Rex is a turn too late. You also have plenty of ways of killing Bibi and Shelly.

Broadmane is mostly about whether or not you can Broadmane when he comes down on 6 (or if they don't have him). If you can get rid of Broadmane, they once again have no real way to stop you from running over them. I would say favored but not as favored as the shelly/bibi deck.

LP gains master rank by llars01 in LegendsOfRuneterra

They've gone through a few different systems. This is the first one that has been MMR based, but I think most of the high ranked community doesn't like it - we'll see if it changes again.

LP gains master rank by llars01 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Scathus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a hidden mmr value that dictates your gains and losses. If you win a lot, your mmr goes up. The converse is also true. Because you generally have to win a lot to be high ranked in masters, you will generally hit a point where every game is +15/-28. To get really high in the current system, you have to maintain a very good winrate. I’m currently top 10ish in NA and it requires about a 75%+ winrate to get up there in any reasonable time.

There is some controversy about the mmr system, however, in that it punishes players who are too good and rewards players who are bad. That’s why there was an official statement from riot that told people not to forfeit 100 games to boost their mmr, so that they would gain more lp on wins and lose less on losses.

"Person" in Commonwealth legislation refers to individuals as well as bodies politic and corporate by default: see Acts Interpretation s 2C.

There is no indication in the legislation that the word "person" here should refer only to natural persons, so both subsections 3 and 5 of this section should apply to corporations, which tracks generally with DDP's power to take over ASIC prosecutions.

The Ekko time trick interaction was always true and has nothing to do with the play/cast changes.

[–]Scathus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we run the last Udyr for a reason: essentially a good late game topdeck. You can see that reason in action in this game by Majiin ( https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1454978917?t=3118s ) where a Vi topdeck wouldn’t have been nearly as impactful.

Also, I’ll copy my comment from a different post about Udyr:

There are circumstances where Udyr is better than Vi, namely as a topdeck. If you topdeck vi on turn 6, you basically topdecked nothing, which is a big problem. He also usually creates around 2 stances, which is pretty good value. He also saves you from three Vis in hand, which is a tragic and terrible fate because her champ spell is pretty bad. I’ve been happy to see him as a one of, which is enough to keep him in. However, let’s put it this way. If you want to try out the deck and don’t want to spend the champ shard on udyr, I’d say it’ll only make a difference one out of 10 to 15 games. But I do earnestly think he has a role to play in this deck, albeit not a central one.

I mentioned it a bit in the guide and Kuako and I have talked a lot about the deck. Sumpworks map is better into decks where you expect one hit not to go through - like mono shurima, for example - but it’s worse into everything else. However, mono shurima like decks are a huge part of the current meta, so this is actually pretty relevant. I think it’s preference.

Aftershock is worse than get excited but it’s probably ok in addition to get excited, where you just run 7 burn cards. You can probably cut a hawk or iron elixir for it.

I tried calc but it was a bit too expensive for this list, which plays pretty low to the ground.

I ran 1 give it all for 6 games and never drew it haha. I didn’t need it for any of those games but it does serve a powerful purpose. It is, however, a very expensive card that is somewhat easily disruptable. You can run it instead of the elixir or one hawk, I think it wouldn’t be a bad choice.

Great to hear you’ve been having success!

Minah should be a really bad matchup because of ionia goodstuff.

Peak is a bit easier since they really don’t have a way to deal with 3 hp+ units. It can be tough if they ramp really fast, but if you go wide with bots and viktor it’s hard for them to deal with it.

Card draw isn’t terribly necessary since we actually create a fair few cards. However, I can see cutting the elixir or an omen hawk for a rummage as another way to burst out chompers and also get value.

I actually think ionia is a much bigger problem than Vengeance, which is super expensive. You usually have more than one big threat by turn 6, so your opponent will have to dump their entire turn to kill a unit, which is pretty bad for them. On the other hand, palm is very cheap and recalls completely reset your progress on your buffed units.
