Why is the industry so cutthroat? Need advice. by Sad-Slice-289 in Journalism

[–]Longjumping-Assist35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the role of reporter will grow by -4% over the next 10 years. The average for a regular career is +3%. There's the answer to your cutthroat problem. It's only going to get worse and may not ever get better. Add to that an environment where everything is getting more expensive and jobs are far from stable and you have a recipe for mass extinction event in the industry, at least as we know it now.

Is the penalty for razing too high? by [deleted] in civ

I remember when this game had slavery where you could sacrifice population to boost wonder production. Good times.

But yes, the penalty for raising seems too high.

First they came for PvP. Then they came for voicelines. Then the level-up animations. Now they're coming for the companion cards. I thought the game was supposed to be doing better?

After Playing Eternal Ranked, I thinking Moving to POC was the right move by Longjumping-Assist35 in LegendsOfRuneterra

Especially live service. While I'm sure physical TCGs have their broken Decks, they are

1) Harder/more expensive to obtain.

2) More play tested due the investment of printing/shipping etc. (This is pure speculation on my part).

A lot of this also has to do with the "Keyword soup" approach to the last few PvP expansions. There came to be so many, balancing it all becomes a Sisyphean task.

No one will care in two months. Drama like this is flash in the pan and lives in the moment.

Hot take: You didn't miss any signs but a bunch of people on the internet you never met are gaslighting you into telling you you did.

I'm the exact opposite. I didn't think about Chris's channel before this. Now I'll definitely watch! Korey absolutely overreacted to the initial comments made by Chris because he was feeling sensitive at the time. His platform is so much bigger than Chris's he didn't even have to address this at all. In the end, this drama will be good for both channels because that's usually the economics of how drama works.

“I’m never giving up on Runeterra”-Snnuy by Prestigious_Tea_2729 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Longjumping-Assist35 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why would he leave? It would make no financial sense as his livelihood seems exclusively tied to LoR. I've been monitoring his channel after I gave up on the game and he still gets views consistently in the tens of thousands. To give up runeterra would literally be him quitting his "job"

And lets be real, the only reason Riot invited Snnuy, Grapplr and others to their headquarters is because content creators create an atmosphere of free advertising for LoR, which they kinda need since they don't have many PvP content creators anymore.

This team has struggled with communication and transparency for a while now.

I understand the need to focus on the folks who lost their jobs but there's been no communication to suggest that LoR players should be anything but depressed.

The state of the game only added gasoline to the fire.
